  1. It's been all of 14 games (6-8) but sure man. Which is exactly why I asked whether the coaching staff is still the same as the ones that have lost almost 200 games the last 2 years, to discuss whether this is a trend with that organization or not.
  2. It's April, not the middle of July. Broxton has only 46 at bats so far. It's amazing to me that so many fans are considering a panic move based off such a tiny sample and even worse during a season where the Brewers are still in a rebuilding mode. Patience is the exact thing required with talented, but inexperienced major league players and the same with skilled kids in the minors for teams in a building situation as this team currently is. Yep. Ryan freaking Braun had a 6 for 43 stretch last year. Did in 2015 too. Happens. Broxton looked more comfortable at the plate tonight. Put it in play every time, got on base twice, went 1 for 3. Obviously not a breakout game by any means, but a step in the right direction. He'll come around. Or maybe he won't, I don't know for sure, but I know we can't say for sure either way after 46 ABs.
  3. I guess I just don't see the value in having someone else in that spot. Is giving some prospect sporadic ABs going to do anything positive? Heck can it be anything other than negative? I can see some anger with what they did last season(getting a lot of playing time), but this year that really hasn't been the case. I don't see any positive gain from putting a young guy in a bench role. Brinson I think is a guy that needs to play every day, but I wouldn't have a problem with Cordell or Phillips in a 4th OFer type role. Especially if used similarly to how Nieuwenhuis was used last year, I think Phillips would get plenty of reps in that role to make it worthwhile. It doesn't have to be a permanent role, or a permanent promotion, but a good chance for him to get his feet wet against MLB pitching . And I'm not talking anytime soon, more likely in July.
  4. How much of the Carolina coaching staff includes holdovers from Brevard? This is by far the most talented affiliate. You've got 5 guys who are either consensus top 100s or borderline top 100s on some lists in Diaz, Ray, Erceg, Diplan and Clark. The pitching staff is also loaded -- Ponce, Peralta, Diplan, Burnes, Medeiros, we're talking about organizational top 20s on a loaded farm, every single one of them. There is absolutely no excuse for the Mudcats not to be competing for a league title, much less struggling to play .500 ball. There is some serious internal evaluation needed here and they really need to figure out what is going on at High A.
  5. I hope someone claims him so we can just be done with him, but I'm not overly optimistic that he will be. Look, I've expressed dislike for Kirk, but I've also said that as a cheap lefty bat with some good pop when he can actually connect and a guy who can play anywhere in the OF, he's a good 5th outfielder for a contending team. He's just not a good fit for what we're trying to do right now, and I would say that whether he was hitting . 280 or. 080. I don't really see how he will be back in Milwaukee now. I guess if you want to keep him in Colorado Springs as injury insurance and depth, that's fine, but he's obviously not coming back real soon and within a couple months you can pretty safely move up Brinson and Phillips without worrying about service time. You've even got Reed still on the 40 for some reason. It's a lot easier for the team to just call up someone on the 40 than have to make a 2nd move to clear another spot on the 40 for Nieuwenhuis. And even if they do he's now got to compete with guys like Wren and Cordell for that spot and I'm not even sure if he's going to win that one. Barring some crazy circumstances like major OF injuries or Brinson and Phillips someone both just clearly not being ready in July, I don't see how Kirk is back in Milwaukee.
  6. I do agree with you but it is tough to continue to produce when your at bats are so sparatic. He's probably the next to go down since there's just no where's to play him. Make no mistake I'm not giving up on Aguilar, but I think his several thousand plus sample size of meh production in the minors speaks a lot louder than a handful of spring training ABs. I just can't really think of a single guy who ever really came out of nowhere to make a bench on the strength of a ridiculously good spring and then go on to be any kind of impactful player.
  7. The almost complete silence we've heard lately on Aguilar is a pretty good reminder of how much stock to put into spring training numbers.
  8. Kept the consecutive game HR streak alive. So at least there's that.
  9. Thought that about Broxton myself. You would think it's a vote of confidence in him.
  10. How about this one. In 18 games, the Brewers have led in every one of them, besides 4/9 against the Cubs and 4/6 against the Rockies. Of course the flip side of that is that we've already blown leads in 8 games and it's April 21st. 9 if we don't come back from our current 6-2 deficit tonight.
  11. LePay really likes to hear himself say 'Break even pitch. '
  12. Just love how Wainwright has been a giant pumpkin against the rest of the league for the last year+, but yet every time he sees that Brewer uniform, he turns back into Cy Wainwright.
  13. Of course now Angel Hernandez decides to give the corner.
  14. Way to protect with 2 strikes and RISP down 4. With Nieuwenhuis gone, Franklin has 'next position player to be DFA'ed' written all over him.
  15. ERA's of our starters this year: Milone: 5.63 Davies: 8.24 Nelson: 4.42 Peralta: 4.71 Anderson: 1.50 Anderson won't be that good, and Davies won't be that bad, but you've really got an entire rotation full of #4/#5 pitchers. It's not rocket science why we're not ready to contend yet, and we probably won't until we get the rotation fixed.
  16. Don't even bother telling us '2 minute challenge time limit' if you have no intention of sticking with it.
  17. Lol Wily. Every time I really want to believe this team can contend reality quickly reminds me that our pitching still sucks badly.
  18. Get out of it now or it's going to be one of those games.
  19. That wasn't a particularly terrible pitch, but Wily has given up way too many hits this year up 0-2 in counts.
  20. Sucks, but plenty of game left in this one to put up some runs. This isn't a Cy Young candidate Adam Wainwright anymore.
  21. Speaking of pitcher HRs...sheesh. Anybody but Wainwright.
  22. Not that that was all impressive of contact but Wily can hit. I remember that bomb he hit last year, just a thing of beauty and no cheap HR.
