  1. Not throwing strikes to Hamilton is inexcusable. He's the one guy in MLB that you absolutely don't want to put on for free.
  2. Perez would have walked about 8 pitches ago if he had anything resembling an eye at the plate.
  3. I think the fact that we tried desperately to trade Scooter and found zero offers for him is a pretty good indication of his actual value level around the league. Scooter will cool off, as he always does.
  4. Was going to add this to the previous Thames thread that Briggs started but it was locked after the Thames signing. Someone is going to ask, if we haven't discussed this already so I may as well throw it out there. Suppose that the first 12 games from Thames are no fluke and he's mashing at the deadline with 20 Hrs and a .900+ OPS. Obviously his contract and production would make him an extremely valuable trade asset quickly, possibly the most valuable trade chip we had available. He's also 30. But we also don't have a clear 1B option coming up through the prospect ranks, either. Would you trade him for a haul at the deadline, wait and see if he'll be worth even more after the season, or just be happy you signed him and have him under control for 4 seasons? Obviously there are other factors at play here like whether or not there are emerging 1B options in the farm and how close the team is getting to competitive baseball.
  5. He's going to be streaky, but Broxton looks pretty lost at the plate right now. Hopefully now that I said that he goes yard next AB.
  6. I would like it if there are about 29 GMs after this season regretting not pursuing Thames.
  7. Me too, but that wasn't a very good pitch to Cozart. Don't think the previous 2 were mistakes, though, but I think Davies is probably the most likely starter to disappoint this year. A higher strike zone isn't conducive to what he does at all.
  8. Atta way Tooter. Needed a 1 pitch non productive AB.
  9. Haven't been very impressed with Davies so far this year, but that really was a pretty decent pitch.
  10. Yep. Continuing to freak out over his mistakes is the definition of insanity. Sure it's annoying but it's a learning process and he's just too good an important for us to be sitting him. No one is calling for him to be benched (well, not for more than a game or so anyway), but it sure does get frustrating. The K the last inning doesn't bother me, we know it's going to happen plenty with him, but the constant pickoffs are maddening.
  11. Why did the Reds pull their starter after one inning?
  12. Never as good as you think you are when things are going right, and never as bad as you think you are when things are going bad. I'm enjoying the good things right now, but we'll have 4 game (or more) losing streaks along the way too.
  13. Are you freaking kidding me Villar? Are you just completely clueless by this point? Getting on base doesn't do you any good if you can't stay there.
  14. I actually think Arcia is a good 9 spot candidate to hit the pitcher 8th with the kind of power that the Brewers have at 1-3, but I don't see Counsell doing that.
  15. After tonight's win, the #Brewers have posted a 1.62 ERA with Manny Piña catching (50ip, 9er) and are now 5-0 in his starts. #MILatCIN He was pretty decent last year too. Not saying he's going to be a late blooming Lucroy but I do think there's a good chance the Brewers can get better than average production from a combined tandem of Pina and Bandy which is pretty amazing when you consider both were acquired for basically nothing. That's not even considering what Susac ends up doing, who was the highest touted of the 3.
  16. The Brewers are the only team left in MLB to have not lost a game on the road.
  17. Lieutenant Frank Drebin the homeplate ump for that last AB ? Those pitches were damn near perfect.
  18. Right? I'm circling the bases either way. I couldn't care less what you do with the ball.
