  1. Black’s trade value is probably quite minimal at the moment. I don’t see how coming off the bench and going 1 for 7 in the next week is going to change that at all. Someone would take a shot on him, sure, but I don’t read much into the move.
  2. It’s been really exciting. They’ll obviously cool off at some point, but they’re definitely very good. Based on the remaining schedule, the Cubs probably have the edge for the division, but it could definitely go either way. My dreams are of a World Series. My bets, if I were to make any, is that they win a Wild Card and fall in the first round. It’s not that I don’t think they’re capable of more. I’ve just gone through the heartbreak too many times to get my hopes up until they can prove that they can get over the hump and at least win a playoff series or two.
  3. As of right now the Brewers are tied for the best record in baseball, pending the Tigers result today.
  4. They got Ohtani coming up this inning, and presumably don’t want to use Megill so they’re playing the matchup against Ohtani.
  5. That was Chourio, who fortunately was hustling all the way. 1 more second and it’s only 5-4. Not great baserunning by Vaughn, but I won’t be too critical of him right now.
  6. This last AB notwithstanding, Haase just hasn’t done a lot to make a case for more playing time this year. Brian I think it was also brought up the point earlier today that Williams’ relationship with this pitching staff is likely a crucial ingredient of their success or they wouldn’t be pushing Contreras so much.
  7. Contreras has to be better. You are too important to this lineup to keep coming up small in situations where we just need a flyball.
  8. Monasterio popped up Ball 4. They are giving us every opportunity to win this game and so far we are just not taking it.
  9. His total splits are pretty even, although he’s had far more success against RH starters than LH starters.
  10. I think you’re selling Collins short. With his defense, he’s already an above average starter. Will he ever be a superstar, no, but I’m confident he’s a better everyday player than Tyler Black is ever going to be.
  11. I don’t think showing MLB teams what Tyler Black MLB ABs look like is a very good precursor to trading him.
