  1. Wow, great job working out of it! Got the curve working, the strikeout on Walker was the big play. Now how about a walkoff of some kind.
  2. Not exactly the way you want to start out the 9th with the score tied. Can't be walking the leadoff man on 4 pitches.
  3. Even if this works out, I still don't really understand it. Smith isn't a LOOGY and had retired the first 2. Even if Cespedes reaches, Smith would have still had the L/L matchup against Loney. Glad Thornburg got Loney to make it a moot point, but just don't see why it was necessary.
  4. Thornburg replaces Smith with 2 out and nobody on with his spot up next? Must be a Broxton for Flores double switch coming up.
  5. I just can't even be surprised anymore when we squash great scoring chances.
  6. Whatever links are showing Ray as being a perfect 44 for 44 in steal attempts are wrong. He was 44 for 52. Still really good, but he's not 44 for 44. http://www.d1baseball.com/player/corey-ray-ray-co45/
  7. Yeah, Counsell didn't manage the pen well tonight. I really don't even know why Knebel is a guy who should be guaranteed a roster spot coming back from injury.
  8. Just destroying every opportunity we get tonight.
  9. Agree with Boomer that he would need to sustain this for at least an entire season to be a significant trading chip. Right now he has far more value to us as a player than as a trade asset.
  10. Does our record give us any sort of leverage? I would think if we're 18-42, teams know we HAVE to sell him, it's just a matter of who bids highest. Right now we can say hey, we don't have to sell anything, we're a few games out of a playoff spot and have some nice upcoming talent from the minors, so if you want Lucroy, you need to blow us away.
  11. Absolutely not worth discussions with Cleveland then as a deal with Bradley as the centerpiece isn't worth two playoff chases of one of the game's best catchers. Bradley still carries a lot of risk as a high A player. He is basically putting up Chris Carter numbers in High A. His ceiling is Adam Dunn, but he's no sure bet to get there.
  12. Call me crazy, but that package is underwhelming as hell given what we know about Swihart, and I'm not all that certain Devers is as big of stud he's projected as. I've watched him more than a few times, and I don't think he's the blue chip prospect the mainstream says he is. His numbers in advanced A ball are God awful too. Not real surprising for a guy his age, but also not someone I want as a center piece in a Luc deal. I'd still do that deal because it's probably the best we could do and Devers is the perfect match of upside and need for us, but I can understand your skepticism. I'm nervous about any deal with the Red Sox. Their prospects are notoriously overrated.
  13. Ramirez looks like quite the hidden gem.
  14. I don't know why that review took so long.
  15. Nieuwenhuis is 3 for his last 38 and isn't part of our future. Is there any reason he needs to continue to play every single day?
  16. Can we have one damn game where we don't blow countless scoring opportunities?
  17. That's a lot better than some of the trade proposals I've seen from Boston. Cechninni is a top 100 prospect at a premium position. Ynoa is a decent back end of the rotation prospect. I agree I wouldn't do this deal for Lucroy, but Hill alone would never fetch this kind of a return, and if he somehow did, Stearns would and should jump on it in a heartbeat.
  18. Villar not being in the top 5 SS is an absolute joke. Addison Russell can't hold Villar's jock this year and he leads by a mile, but that goes to show what a joke AS voting is. Is there something that fans have against voting for, you know, the best players? Wouldn't we want to see the NL have the most competitive team as possible? Especially Cub fans, who have legitimate WS aspirations, wouldn't that HFA be, you know, kind of important?
