  1. My man crush on Villar is going to unprecedented heights. Oh Hill. Again, we've got to capitalize in these situations.
  2. I totally fell for it when Scooter Gennett was our best player for like the first week of the season. Well, never thought he was our best, but thought maybe he was in line for a breakout year. So much for that.
  3. These big innings we give up wouldn't hurt so bad if we actually capitalized once in awhile when we get a chance for a big inning.
  4. Segura has been alright for the D'Backs. Hill has been surprisingly ok for the Brewers. Anderson has been really up and down, but has done alright. I'd say this trade is one that both teams can say they got what they wanted. Well, I think what we really want is for Isan Diaz to end up as the centerpiece of this trade. Still plenty of time for that to happen, but he's not having a good year in Appleton.
  5. Enrique Cruz for me. He was worse than a pitcher. He was overmatched in every AB.
  6. The harder we try to 'manufacture ' runs, the harder they come.
  7. Please stop striking out looking so much with RISP. It is beyond frustrating by now.
  8. I'm not all too upset about these losses, I think it's good we stay grounded and remember what stage we're at right now. As fun as it would be to flirt with .500 again I'd be a little uneasy about it if Mark A. starts second guessing trading Braun or Lucroy.
  9. Ueck: 'That guy can handle Peralta. ' Along with every other hitter this year.
  10. I'm not against taking back Fielder in a trade with Texas, as long as they know it's certainly not for our benefit. Fielder back is a fun storyline and all and might put a few more butts in the stands, but ultimately we'll need to win to see 3M fans again. Any decision by Stearns to take back Prince will be based on business, not nostalgia. They'll need to either eat most of the salary or make it significantly worth our while in terms of a return (assuming this is part of a blockbuster deal for Lucroy )
  11. No idea what his willingness would be. I would guess he'd be open to going to a contender but that's a total guess. He might prefer to stay out of the spotlight of a big market at this point in his career, I really don't know. He may ask for his 2021 team option to be increased or converted to a player option, not sure what the possibilities are on that.
  12. If we are offered Swihart +, assuming the + includes no prospects greater than Swihart, we shouldn't be trading with Boston no matter how much salary they want us to eat.
  13. We really need a 1B. The Diamondbacks aren't good. So let's give them a trade centered around, oh I don't know, Ramon Flores, for Paul Goldschmidt. So then for prospects, I guess we'll give them, say, Devin Williams and Monte Harrison. Of course they need to take Garza off our hands too to help offset the cost of Goldschmidt. Sound insane? Of course it is. It is also about the equivalent of what these clueless writers in Boston are proposing. I'm guessing these same writers would start the bidding at 2 top 25 prospects if they were shopping Ortiz.
  14. The rest of the article is pretty awful as well, basically suggests they can have Braun and Lucroy for Swihart and a few garbage prospects, but I had to start somewhere, so I went with the awful line about declining Lucroy's option.
  15. http://beantownbeattomdarcy.sportsblog.com/posts/18855676/red-sox-trade-rumors--is-a-ryan-braun--jonathan-lucroy-blockbuster-coming-.html "Boston may decide to turn Lucroy into a rental and decline his option after the season." (Diet Coke spit take) Are there any of these writers out there that actually have a clue?
  16. The amount of times that our hitters go down looking with 2 out and RISP is really alarming.
  17. Any deal for both Braun and Lucroy needs to include Espinoza and either Devers or Moncada. It's going to get old fast if the perspectives of GMs interested in Braun and Lucroy are anything close to that of these writers, because they're not even in the ballpark. If they aren't willing to meet that price, so be it, we'll hold, but Stearns isn't going to let anyone take advantage of him just because he's a new GM and we're rebuilding. There's nothing wrong with keeping Braun around for the next stage of the rebuild if there is no proper offer. Even if he's a 120 game player now, 120 games of a .900-1.000 OPS player is still very valuable. With all that said, Braun isn't doing us many favors the last week or two with how much time he's missing. He needs to have a relatively healthy and productive June and July to be able to drum up the amount of interest it will take to move him before the deadline.
  18. I like how in order to accommodate the Red Sox taking on a great player with a near 20M contract, we have to take a really horrible player with the same contract. Makes sense.
  19. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/news/red-sox-among-potential-landing-161500896.html That's pretty horrible, Braun and Lucroy for a trade centered around Swihart? I like how he says 'Lucroy would be included in such a trade too' like he's an afterthought.
  20. It's really not. The rule states that even if you're out of challenges you can go out after the 7th and make a suggestion that the umpires should look at the replay. They don't have to grant it but they obviously thought it was close enough to take a second look. So then rewrite the rule to call it what it really is - managers get unlimited challenges after the 7th. The whole concept of a 'suggestion' is ridiculous. Obviously any coach or manager at any level of any sport wants any close play ruled against him to be reviewed. It's not a play that would have been reviewed without manager intervention. Wait for the outcry from a team when a crew refuses to grant a review on a similar play.
