  1. Brett, That's a matter of perspective, and I don't agree. The way I see it, we haven't scored in our last 8 innings. It doesn't matter what it usually takes to win a game, the point is that after the first, there were still 8 more innings to score runs. You don't call it a day if you get 5 runs in the first because you've met your quota. You pat yourself on the back for a good inning, and move on. That inning is history, you still have a job to do for the next 8. It's not just today we've struggled after the first, and it wasn't just Friday. I'd be willing to bet that at least 1/3rd of our runs or so the last few weeks have come in the 1st inning. That's great to come out with intensity, but it needs to be maintained.
  2. Almost forgot. Dear Offense, The game contains 9 innings, not 1. Nor can you take your result from the first inning and multiply it by 9. You must play the full 9 innings. You have made a habit of this the last several weeks, please seek measures to resolve this problem.
  3. Dear Ben, Chris, Jeff, Dave, Claudio, Carlos, Yovani, Matt, Brian, Chris, Derrick, Francisco, Corey, J.J, Craig, Ryan, Prince, Johnny, Geoff, Gabe, Rickie, Bill, Damien, Kevin, and Tony: Just because you're playing at PNC Park, does not mean you have to pretend that you are the Pirates. Sincerely, A Concerned Fan
  4. Well, this looks good. Have we had a 9th inning rally this season?
  5. And to top it off, some great baserunning. I seriously do not understand how we can look SO good on some days, and just awful, like Bad News Bears awful on other days.
  6. Prince needs to calm down and relax. I know he's very frustrated, but throwing things in the dugout and hitting water jugs isn't going to break him out of his slump.
  7. He hasn't looked impressive, and he's gotten lucky at times, I'll certainly say that. His WHIP indicates that. But walks and hits per innings pitched don't score runs by themselves. In any event, if we're this disgusted with a garbage time reliever that has a 2.96 ERA through over 27 innings, things are VERY good in Milwaukee.
  8. I agree with Schroeder, that wasn't a very good idea. Not sure if that was Braun's idea or not.
  9. If we can get through 3 more innings with the lead, I couldn't care less how much it rains.
  10. Should have been a DP right there.
  11. I'm going to say Pence on the hunt for Braun, Braun's gotta be the front-runner right now.
  12. The ideal game tonight would be a 5 inning complete game shutout for Vargas. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. Personally, I don't think that's it at all. Did you see the 9th inning of the first game of the series? Hall made 2 catches that were probably among the best he's made all season, especially the 2nd. Yeah, he made a bonehead play yesterday, but I don't think he looks lost at PNC, nor do I think he's out of the lineup because of it. I think he's just getting a day off, nothing more. He's been swinging a pretty good bat besides yesterday, but I think Ned just wanted to get him a day off. Makes more sense to do it today than tommorow against a lefty. And yeah, I'm relieved that we don't face Chico. Seriously. He had a pretty good game against the first time this year.
  14. All right, I think it's finally time to come out and say that we should really start taking it easy on the guy. Every time he's brought in, we act like he's the worst mop-up reliever in baseball. Seriously, he's got a 2.96 ERA in over 27 innings since he was brought up. Can anyone honestly say that they expected more from him? Yes, his WHIP isn't impressive, and I've never been a fan of his stuff at ALL. But let's give the guy his due already -- he's done a respectable job for us, especially for a guy who everyone looks at as the last man in the pen.
  15. Anyone know what the chances of them getting this one in are? I heard heavy rains in Pittsburgh, but I just took a look at the radar, and it doesn't look that bad at all. Not sure?
  16. So that's why we went on such a terrible skid. Sheesh Trwi, couldn't you have figured it out at least by the end the Padre series and saved us all some grief?? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. Guys, give it more than just one bad outing. Remember Villanuevas first outing out of the pen? He gave up 3 earned runs without even recording an out. Now, how has that turned out? If he continues to struggle in his role, then yeah, bring him out of the pen. But Gallardo is a solid, composed youngster who I believe can give us some quality innings out of the pen. Hopefully it's not for long -- I want to see Gallardo in the rotation as much as anybody. However, we need to look at the long-term, too. If we make the postseason this year, Gallardo will likely be a big part of that, and we need him at his best -- not burnt out after his arm has been overstretched in his first year.
  18. This is what makes me so mad about this team. As easily as they can come out and just destroy their opposition, (see Monday, Saturday), they can just as easily come out and look like a poor farm league squad. This was a POOR AAA pitcher they faced today, not even a hot prospect. Are they allergic to anything better than 14 over .500? Not to mention the Cubs have jumped on the Nationals early again. This just in -- the Nats absolutely suck.
  19. How much do you want for your almanac?
  20. Basically, the MLB blackout restrictions have gone so far, it's to the point where as long as you want to watch the game, you can't, regardless of where you are.
  21. It seemed to me like we had absolutely been dominating coming out of the gates lately, so I went to check some stats. In our last 12 games, we've scored 24 runs in the first inning alone, an average of 2 runs every time in the first inning for the last twelve games. We've scored in the first inning 9 out of the last 12 games. The beginning of our lineup seems to be doing a VERY good job of getting to starting pitching immediately and seeing him well the first time around. That's an absolutely dominating stretch. Doubt there's any way to look up something like this, but I can't imagine any 2 week stretch in recent memory when a team, or at least a Brewer team, has been swinging the bats so well in the first inning.
  22. Nice baserunning, Jenks. We're doing a sweet job today getting runners in from 3rd with less than 2 outs.
  23. Man. Sheets is lucky the wind is blowing in today, otherwise he's given up about 3 dingers already.
