  1. It was all strategic, he fully intended on Cordero starting the inning the entire time.
  2. I am waiting for Bill and Brian to say something like "Well, it's unlikely that the pitcher comes through with a grand slam here," and then chuckle slightly. Guys, come on. At least play along and be somewhat superstitious. You know the day is coming when they say, "7 innings of NO HIT BALL for Sheets! Wow!"
  3. Well, either of our predictions would have been better than that. I remember a better day when Hall used to be a clutch hitter. I absolutely cannot STAND the way he still tries to pull everything. They're not going to pitch inside to you, Bill, You can take the ball the other way. You've shown that before. For the love of God.
  4. . Gotta take the bad with the good, I guess, I'm sure Nedly would get plenty of hate-mail if he PR's for Prince there.
  5. Well, for those who want to see Bill Hall finally come through with a clutch hit -- here's his chance. I'm thinking strikeout, but I hope I'm wrong.
  6. Someday, Prince is probably going to make a very good DH on the Yankees or Red Sox. So let's enjoy this for the next 4 1/2 years.
  7. I know I'm bias, but does it not seem like the strike zone has been more generous tonight for Obermueller than Brewers pitchers? Maybe I'm just bias.
  8. It's been Hart, Hardy, and Fielder tonight. That's it. Not a very encouraging performance against Obermueller. Sure doesn't look like they're "turning the corner".
  9. I love Braun, but I disagreed with him batting #3 from the first day he was there, and he's not changing my mind. We're one swing by Prince Fielder from another very, very ugly performance by our lineup against a poor starter.
  10. Hey, good job by our fans not getting out of the way for Cabera. That's very quietly 5 straight quality starts for our rotation. Good to see after all the problems they've run into over the losing streak.
  11. 6 IP, 3 ER for Vargas. I'm not intending to bash Sheets here, or even saying Vargas pitched a great game. I just find it a little funny that when Vargas puts up that line, he gets flack for running into problems, and people (myself included) call him out and say his days in the rotation are numbered. Yet when our ace, Ben Sheets posts that exact same line, he gets praised for being our ace stopper and getting us back on on a winning track.
  12. Pretty early yet, but Vargas' PC is getting up there -- do you hit for him this inning, and go with Villanueva in the 6th? Or is it worth letting Vargas bat to have him pitch a maximum of 1 more inning?
  13. I recall Estrada priding himself on being a "defensive catcher".
  14. Actually, that was a pretty good pitch by Obie, I'm not surprised it was a called 3rd strike, except for the fact that Vargas wasn't getting those corner calls, so it does make me a little mad.
  15. Where would we be without Prince right now?? #19, I believe that's 4 straight games with a homer.
  16. At least Vargas can get out of a jam like no other.
  17. "Uggla has no home runs with the bases loaded." Are Brian and Bill even a little bit superstitious EVER?
  18. I love Prince, but what was he thinking on that one?? 2 straight mental defensive miscues by him that won't show up in the boxscore.
  19. Prince should have been a little more heads-up there, he should have easily been able to beat him back to 1st.
  20. Come on Claudio, pretty sure he's not going to pitch around you.
  21. I still don't understand why everyone hated Darron Sutton. Sure, you laughed at him, but you also enjoyed watching the game with one of your own true fans doing the play-by-play. He made it exciting. I miss that.
  22. Vargas will be okay... In long relief. I think by the beginning of July, he'll be replaced by Gallardo.
  23. Not sure why I'm bringing this up right now....but I just can't figure out how Bill Hall went from being a 35 HR a year slugger at age 26....to a punch-and-judy the following year at age 27. It just doesn't make any sense. I can't imagine he hit 35 "fluke" homeruns last year.
  24. I still don't like Braun batting 3rd. I just don't. Having a rookie with less than a week of MLB experience, no matter how hyped he is, batting in your "best hitter" spot where a lot of clutch hitting will be necessary, just doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I liked Hardy and Prince batting back to back much better.
  25. Man, at first I was bummed that we went down 1-0 with a 2 out clutch hit, I thought Vargas was going to get out of it. Then I saw Willingham get a hold of one, and I thought it was 3-0, so I don't feel so bad about a 1-0 deficit after the top of the inning anymore. Doesn't really matter. 1 run is all that Obie needs. Brewer bats -- please, please, PLEASE don't make me come back and edit the color on that after the game. I'll do it.
