  1. Well, if you spot Ben Sheets a 4 run lead in the first inning, you SHOULD win. So hopefully, let's see it. No repeat of yesterday. I'd feel a lot better about what happened yeseterday if we come back and get a good win today.
  2. Good start, again. Let's not take innings 2-8 off this time around.
  3. I think you're looking for the silver lining thread.
  4. Cordero IS starting to be a concern. He's 27 for 30 now, or 90% in save opportunities. Still very good, but no longer as dominant as earlier this season. His ERA is starting to creep up around 3.00, and I no longer feel as confident when he comes in with a 9th inning lead. The worst part about seeing him blow todays safe is seeing him do it against the Cubs. He's definitely starting to put a dent into his big FA deal next year, and I for one am glad we didn't decide to get a deal done a month ago and throw $11 million a year at him for 4 years.
  5. So, it is "against the rules" to pinch-hit for a pitcher in the top of the 1st, since they haven't faced anyone? Is that certain?
  6. These are the kind of losses that make me mad at my own team. Of all the games to blow a 5 run lead and give up a come from behind walkoff in the 9th, did you really have to do it against the freaking Cubs? I mean, really, come on, you've got good fans here in Wisconsin, don't do this crap to us!
  7. No, not likely CV would have pitched in the 8th, not with a 3 run lead, you go to the setup man.
  8. Who is that fat slob in the Cub's booth? Was he some kind of celebrity? I think he's gone now.
  9. I hope the bullpen doesn't make it interesting tonight, because the lineup hasn't done jack since the first inning.
  10. Come on, Yo. Don't let them get back into this any more than they already have.
  11. If expansion eventually does bring in 2 more teams, I think I'd almost rather see there be 2 division in each league, of 8 teams each, and 2 wildcards. Since this is essentially how baseball was before, without wild cards, I don't think this would be a problem. I agree, they COULD make 15 and 15 work. But like every significant change, it would be an adjustment and probably have some growing pains, so up until this point, they just would rather stick with what they got rather than go through the trouble of making a signficant change and moving an NL team back to the AL. (I wonder if the Brewers would end up moving again in this scenario).
  12. No matter how many years I see it, I still can't get over the fact that there are 6 teams in the NL Central, 4 in the NL West, and 5 in every other division. Doesn't it seem to make natural sense to move one team to the AL West and then all things are equal? The big argument against this, is that there will always have to be an interleague series going on. What I don't understand, is why this is such a big deal. So what if there is always one interleague series? The NFL plays "interconference" matchups every week, and they seem to do just fine. We can still have the limited amount of interleague games, while having an interleagues series going on at all times. I don't see why this is such a big deal. So what if there is interleague going on. Is there a rules saying that all teams must work simeltaneously?
  13. Booing is just part of the game, and I think most of the players are smart enough not to take it personally. I highly doubt Lee's trips to Miller were the first time he got booed, and I doubt it'll be the last. I didn't personally boo him, but he had the opportunity to stay here, and left for more money. Can I blame him? Certainly not, but I don't have a big problem with him being booed. It's just part of the game. As far as who DESERVES to get booed, that list looks like a pretty good one. I'd add any player that ever had any negative remarks to make about Milwaukee or the team, thus you can add Gagne and Zambrano to the list. Sheffield is still public enemy #1, and will be until the day he retires. I don't think there's a guy in baseball I respect less. Remember, some years back, when Roberto Alomar spit in that umpires face? Oh man, he got booed EVERYWHERE he went for a LONG time before people gradually started to forget about it. Deservedly so, though.
  14. I don't really care what people say. They will say that anyway. I would like to finish with the best record in the NL so that we have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
  15. I love MLB.TV, but the blackout restrictions are such a crock for several reasons. How are you going to black out a non-televised, away game? Is it really shame on me for not flying into Arizona during the work week to go to the park and go to the game? That seems a little ridiculous. Even games that are sold out, are still blacked out. So, I can't attend the game, because there are no tickets. I can't watch the game, because it's not televised. So my last resort is the computer, and for some reason, blackout restrictions still apply. Then again, why black out televised games at all? If I have access to a TV, do they really think I'm going to bypass watching the game on television so that I can watch it on my computer? Ratings aren't going to go down if they lighten blackout restrictions. MLB blackout restrictions are very outdated, and yet haven't been changed. That's a real disservice by MLB to the many fans that fund this business, that they still haven't gotten around to revamping restrictions so that they are a little more practical to modern times. It's not a big effect on them, so they don't even bother addressing it. Honestly, it's about time that they do. Sorry, maybe this should have gone in the venting thread, he he. But it really does make me mad.
  16. Here's a simple method to figuring out how good a team is on the road vs. home, without calculating percentages: Just look at the difference between number of games over or under .500 at home, vs. the number of games over or under .500 on the road. Thus the Brewers at 30-13 are +17 at home, and at 16-19, are -3 on the road, for a +20 home differential. Again, that's the biggest differential in baseball. We saw this last season, too. The Brewers difference at the end of the year was an astounding +42 home differential. Only the Devil Rays were able to match that, finishing with an average 41-40 record at home but an abysmal 20-61 on the road. While it is nice to see us playing so well at home, I'm a little troubled at seeing us heading in the same direction as last year. Most teams play somewhat better at home than on the road, that makes sense and is true for most teams. But the difference, in my opinion, shouldn't be THIS extreme. Again, I wish I could explain why we play so much better at home than on the road, when compared to other MLB teams, but I really don't have the slightest idea. With this much of a differential, there has to be more to it than just knowing the field better and playing with more focus in front of their fans.
  17. Here is what I don't understand -- why not just start Capuano on Sunday? He historically is dominant against the Cubs, plus then you can give Bush his full rest before his start on Tuesday. Doesn't this make the most sense?
  18. What other pitches? I don't think Wise really has any other pitches that are really effective, and from what I've seen, he throws the offspeed a good majority of the time.
  19. I thought you meant do we need to watch his innings, as in do we need to actually be watching the game when Carlos is throwing. I was going to answer, "Not really." When Villanueva pitches, that's where I usually go take the snack/bathroom break, as I am usually pretty confident that he's just going to throw another scoreless inning.
  20. Matt Wise seems to baffle hitters with his changeup. And I just don't get it. Most effective changeups that I've seen around the league, work best when complemented with a good fastball. In Wise's case, he throws the offspeed the majority of the time. They know it's coming. I would think they could just sit on it, but apparently, they can't. So, can someone please explain this to me? Does Wise just have uncanny movement on his changeup? What differentiates his offspeed from the average changeups in baseball?
  21. Vargas iz very fortunate that that wuz onli a 425 fout strike nstead of 4-2 astro's.
  22. "Luke Scott hasn't hit the Brewers all season! He's 0 for 16!" (Scott cranks a long homerun to right). Anderson y do you even talk.
  23. Not too nitpik this line up so much cuz its a good 1, but why ain't Miller startin? Since we alwayz go wit 2 different catchers in 2 dayz when a day game folows a nite game, wouldnt it make more sence to start Miller againt the leftie 2day and Estrada against the rightie 2morrow?
  24. Right now, it's still speculation, but it looks about 99% likely right now that this was a very, very ugly murder/suicide story, with Benoit as the responsible party. From what I've heard about Benoit, he must have had some major, major mental issues going on that nobody knew about to end up taking his own child's life. Just an awful, awful story, especially if the story turns out to be as believed. USA network and the WWE wouldn't look too good to have dedicated 3 hours tonight to his career highlights, either.
  25. As if today wasn't good enough already, the Cubs have managed to blow a 5 run lead in the 9th. They've given up 6 in the 9th with STILL nobody out! LOL
