  1. Johnny Estrada just failed to score from 2nd on a double. That's um, unusual.
  2. Could be wrong but I think Hardy has much better splits with RISP. Odd move anyway, but I guess Garner wanted to ensure maximum probability that the score remained the same. Still a little surprising, but not all that crazy, IMO.
  3. Damn, that were some big insurance runs we lost out on.
  4. I shouldn't feel more nervous about a setup man who leads the league in holds coming in than a 23 year old kid with less than a year of major league experience. I shouldn't, but I do.
  5. We don't need 7 starting pitchers on this roster. Maybe Villanueva should be the guy to go down to AAA when Capuano comes up.
  6. Scoring question on the Jenkins play -- does he get credit for a stolen base, since he was initially safe, then came off the bag? Or is it a caught stealing?
  7. Without looking it up, I'm going to guess that Sheets has gotten better run support this year than any of our other starters. Maybe Vargas is close. What a nice change, either way.
  8. Any reason not to pinch hit Jenkins for Mench in the 8th against a righty, Ned? Seriously, I have long been an advocate that Ned is the right manager for this team, but he is a very poor in-game decision manager. I can't figure out what he's thinking sometimes. Is that really smart baseball to "save" Jenkins, Gross, Prince, just ASSUMING that there will be extra innings? Newsflash, Nedly, we need a run first!
  9. Atta boy, Brian. Nothing like having a LOOGY who walks the lefties he faces.
  10. I just can't really be a huge fan of Turnbow as a setup man who you have to cross your fingers and pray every time he comes in. Now he finished blowing it. I don't care how many games he saved in 2005, you better find a better option to close in 2008 if you want to have any kind of confidence in holding a close lead in the 9th.

  12. This could be unravelling in a hurry. I'd be happy to get out of this inning with a tie. Doesn't look like Gallardo will get the win.
  13. Nice, a 4 pitch walk to start the 8th. We don't need a "wild thing" appearance.
  14. Assuming he's done, what a great night for Gallardo.
  15. Gallardo with the pickoff baby!!!!
  16. Great job guys. Lately, I'd much rather see something like that, a well-manufactured run, than a solo shot. It's a good sign. We already know we have power. It's good to see them playing much better smallball.
  17. Boys, do we plan on calling any pop-ups today? Just wondering. They kind of teach that stuff in little league.
  18. Brian Anderson comments that Gallardo has not given up a hit through 4 innings. Gallardo gives up a hit. Thanks again, Brian. Sutton would have known better!
  19. Graffy, Counsell, Mench, and Miller all in the same lineup. YUCK. I guess it's good to get Prince an extra day off once in awhile, but what's up with JJ? Did I not hear the other day that he would probably be back Saturday night, but definitely by Sunday?? This had better not continue.
  20. I would think you meant for this to be in blue, since it seems like every time this year that Bush gives up 2 quick leadoff singles in the 6th and 7th, the floodgates open. It's not like we haven't seen something this year to go off of when he starts struggling in the 6th/7th. I do see your point. I wasn't calling for him to be pulled, I was just saying to get that pen ready. Makes a heck of a lot more sense to make that move when it's 6-3 with a runner rather than when they've come all the way back to tie it.
  21. A little luck never hurt...good job getting out of it Bushie... I feel VERY good about this one now. Of course when we were in Texas, up 3-0, 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, nobody on, 2 strikes on the hitter, and Cordero on the mound, I felt pretty good, too.
  22. Why is the Milwaukee Bucks' head coach's son wearing a Twins hat and a Mariners jersey? Is he as confused as his father's team was this last season? Nice to see Billy add 1 more. I feel pretty good about a 5 run lead against the Royals with 4 innings left. Hopefully Bush can go 7, but get him out at any signs of a huge inning meltdown. I smell a Capellan appearance tonight.
