  1. Big single by Graffy. Those 2 out RBI hits are key.
  2. Gwynn is a nice story, but a "leadoff man" who can't draw a walk and has a career OBP around .300 just isn't the true leadoff man that everyone thinks he is. He is a situational PH and PR'er, not a starter.
  3. I don't have time to do that kind of research right now. But I will check it out tommorow and post on the main board about it.
  4. Since he is in Kansas City's system, I don't think we can call him up at all.
  5. Also for what its worth Bush did pitch out of it, he made two hitters look bad that should have been the 3rd out and both got little fluke hits. Sometimes they are just going to drop. A smash down the right field line is a fluke hit? No. I don't dislike Bush. He could be very solid. But he is MUCH more likely to get ripped and ending up having the floodgates opened on us than Capuano. There's no question about that.Capuano is absolutely more likely to keep us in the game. There's no nonsense about that.
  6. You're missing the point completely. It's not about having a good game every time out. Cappy's first couple outings, where he barely went 5 innings, weren't exactly good ones. It's about doing enough to keep your team in the game. MOST of the time, Capuano does that. Even if you have a lousy day, if you've only allowed 3 runs in 5 innings, your team is still in the game.
  7. That's the difference between Bush and Capuano when they're not on. Capuano, even when he's off, finds a way to get out of it in the 5th inning.
  8. I hate this dumb ballpark. It seriously looks like a custom-designed stadium from a video game.
  9. Rickie needs a day off. He is really struggling right now.
  10. I wish but there's no double header tommorow. Perhaps Sunday but my best bet is that they reschedule the game for Jul. 30th.
  11. They could make it up Jul 30th, as we happen to have a 3 game set at St. Louis prior to that day with the 30th off. But that would have us playing 27 days straight, a pretty brutal stretch. Not sure if MLB as a precedent usually minds having teams play that many days in a row, or if they'd rather just do the double header on Sunday. I guess we'll see, but I don't know when else it would really work into the schedule except those 2 games. This early in the season, I'd be shocked if they tentatively cancelled the game and replayed only if playoff implications came about. They'll make it up sometime.
  12. Way to go Gabe ! This would be huge if we can hang on and get a big series win on the road.
  13. Wouldn't it be funny, if we scored a run after already using Cordero, and let Bush come in for an inning as a "pre-inning" to his starting game later? It would be theoretically possible for Bush to get a Save and a Win on the same day. I wonder if that has ever happened in MLB history. I doubt it.
  14. Wow. I still hate the call. But I'm happy that it worked out. NICE double play.
  15. NO DESSENS PLEASE!!! This is going to be a topic of discussion if it costs us the game, but in a game where you lose if you give up a run, you HAVE to go with the guy that gives you the best chance for a scoreless inning, that is Cordero, even if it's not a save situation. Please, please, no Elmer Dessens.
  16. I'm really starting to like Aquino. He looked DOMINANT that inning.
  17. And the Marlins hitter doesn't try to do too much and pokes a 2 out single into right-center. Take notes, Crew.
  18. Could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure that Cirillo made a couple starts at SS last year and did just fine. I wouldn't like to see him platooning there on a regular basis, but the need for him to start there would be so rare that I don't think it would really have mattered that much.
  19. I don't have a problem with Craig, I have a problem giving $3 million a year to a guy who is undoubtedly a bench player at this point in his career. If we were absolutely desperate, I can see it, but we could have kept Cirillo for much cheaper, who I feel is still the better player.
  20. LOL...I like it...I say an average of .100 should hereby be known as the "Moeller line".
  21. Nice AB's, guys. The top of the order sure is getting it done. Man, I'm sure getting frustrated with this team quickly, they look completely different than the opening day squad. They're just getting dominated.
  22. Good thing this is the "vent" thread: - All the ways in which we looked so good in game 1, we look bad in now. We look bad on the bases. We aren't stealing them, and we're getting picked off. Our defense looks questionable again. We don't look disciplined enough at the plate. - Sheets looked like an entirely different pitcher today. His velocity was down, and he got hammered. - The top of the order is NOT producing. Rickie and Prince are not showing NEARLY enough discipline at the plate. - Everytime we're trailing close, we give up a few runs, then come back and make it CLOSE again. - Craig Counsell is a bench player. Not a starter. - Once again, we can't get timely hitting. We're constantly stranding runners in scoring positions. Just this game, Zambrano has given us multiple opportunities to break out with a big inning, and we end up having to settle for 1 run. - I hate FIBs.
  23. Love what I see out of Claudio Vargas so far. So far, our #5 starting position doesn't look so solid after all after what we've seen from Vargas and Villy.
  24. Hall, Mench, anybody home? Would you like to take a rip at a pitch right down the middle sometime with 2 strikes?
  25. Even if we don't pull this out tonight, (which the odds are firmly stacked against us at this point), I'm very encouraged by this first series. There's a TON of season left, but if we can avoid injuries, I think we're a playoff team. I really do. I don't believe there is any team in the NL Central that is all-around better than us.
