I didn't hear it, but is it possible that this quote was also just a simple mistake? Maybe he meant to say "starter" but just said "reliever" for some reason.
Right on, that's what I miss about Sutton. With Sutton and Bill, you almost felt like you were watching the game with your buddies, other fans who were into the game as much as you. I prefer that over some guy who knows the combined batting average of the Brewers outfielders for the last 3 years.
Does anyone else miss Sutton? Yes, I know that sounds crazy to some, but you got used to hearing that familiar, enthusiastic voice and those dumb catch-phrases over the years, and I'm finding that it just doesn't sound the same without him anymore, and I think it might take me awhile to get used to not hearing him on TV this season. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
Here's what irks me so much about just ridiculous calls like that. For the scorekeeper, it's just showing a little respect for a veteran hall-of-famer. How about for the pitcher who gives up multiple earned runs that inning because of a call that was obviously wrong, and ends up with a 5.00 ERA for spring training instead of 3.50 because of it? I'm not sure whether the team is going to go back and take into consideration what happened in the first spring training game and a bogus call, but if they don't, for someone who might be borderline to make a rotation or bullpen, stats can be skewed badly against someone, and that's not right.
Bonds grounds out on his first pitch and then has a ball pop right off his glove in the next inning. And the scorekeeper calls it a HIT. Unreal bias, even though it's just a ST game.
From what I've heard, Gallardo is the best pitching prospect we've had since, well, Ben Sheets. Does he really have that much upside? That would be wonderful, it's just that my knowledge on the guy is very limited. All I have are the stats. Can anyone who knows a little bit more about the guy than me shed some light on what we can expect and how quickly? Thanks.
LOL, speaking of Jenks platooning, we have enough MLB (at some point in their career) outfielders to field an entire team. Jenkins, Hart, Mench, Nix, Gwynn, Gross, Clark, Anderson, Rottino, Krynzel. Getting a little excessive, I think.
Exactly...Pray he keeps it going. If he ends up at .280 with 20 HR's, teams with a comfortable payroll might think, "Hey, respectable outfielder, great against righties, good defense, sure that's worth 7.5 Mil to us. Which would be good f
Dave Bush is both the best pitcher in baseball and the worst pitcher in baseball, depending on which Dave Bush shows up. He is the poster boy for inconsistency. But when he's on, he's on.
