  1. No, but we have a pretty good assortment of excess prospects who need to be added to the 40 next year and only so many spots available. I’m not sure Jett Williams really has a role here, for example.
  2. He can’t. It’s either not a competitive pitch, or it’s right down the middle. Ergo, he’s not an MLB quality pitcher.
  3. Which prospects? This is far too general to be true or false. There is a Grand Canyon between Jesus Made and Tyler Black.
  4. Call them fast, Sproat will be serving up plenty more meatballs between now and then
  5. Nah, he’s been electric like always since returning. Cost dependent obviously but I want to go to a World Series. The guy on the mound today isn’t going to contribute to that.
  6. He’s 6 for his last 27, 14 for his last 60 with 1 HR, and is hitting under .200 the last month. Christian Yelich “heating up” sure means something a lot different than it used to.
  7. The best argument I can make for going after a guy like Skubal besides the fact that he is Skubal is that he would likely replace Sproat.
  8. Can’t field his position either. Good job Vaughn bailing him out.
  9. He is just not fun to watch pitch. Everything is either nowhere close or a fat meatball.
  10. Guys, Sproat sucks. His next start will be in August. I don’t know how many more starts we need to see to start acknowledging it.
  11. No one outside the immediate Yelich family enjoys watching Christian Yelich ABs more than Luis Lara ABs.
  12. You know when a hitter pops one up on the infield and somehow two infielders miscommunicate and it just drops in and is a “single” in the box score? Sproat is having the pitching equivalent performance of that so far.
  13. That was a fat cutter by Sproat right down the middle. He’s lucky that Gilbert didn’t hit that into McCovey.
  14. Ok, but they can be in the same lineup … 😅
  15. We are probably not that much in disagreement if you are conceding that there is zero chance Yelich is forced off the team “absent a complete and sudden collapse of his baseball skills” rather than zero chance at all. Maybe we just disagree on how likely that is to happen and/or just how bad that collapse needs to be. For me I agree that Yelich in his current form isn’t in danger of being forced off the team. I’d be fine with less playing time and would prefer him at the bottom of the order but that’s a different discussion altogether. My main premise is that Matt Arnold is too smart of a man to fall for sunk cost fallacy in the even that Yelich sometime in the next two seasons becomes completely unplayable to the point where he’s hurting the team.
  16. There have been numerous examples in MLB of players who completely cratered that the team moved on from. With a career like Yelich, it typically isn't the path of an embarrassing DFA but rather “you’re going to ‘retire’ with grace and we’re going to pay you quietly.” The Alex Rodriguez route, basically. Yeah, it’s true that there aren’t a lot of such Brewers examples (maybe Jeff Suppan is the closest), but what you’re describing is sunk cost fallacy and Matt Arnold is smart enough to understand it. As we all pretty much agree, we aren’t there yet. He’s still productive enough to roster and play — for now. However, if he does indeed crater to an A-Rod -1.2 WAR or a Lorenzo Cain .465 OPS, and the Brewers have no realistic reason to think he’s going to recover, I guarantee they’ll quietly discuss a graceful way out with him rather than have him burn a bench spot on the roster over far better options and put themselves at a competitive disadvantage.
  17. It’s a really exciting time because it’s just been so long since I’ve seen this well rounded of a lineup. I think you could make a legit argument that Pratt, Turang, Lara, Mitchell, and Chourio all have 4 plus WAR upside. That’s over half the lineup. Some uncertainty about the future at 1B, 3B and C but it’s not like the existing options are performing terribly and none is going to keep the team from being a perennial contender for years to come. The real question will be what to do with Yelich. I think you do give him at least this season to see if there’s a last big run in the bat. If that doesn’t happen, I think you have to go into this offseason with the realization that better options have passed him by. It’s a difficult conversation, but being a contending club, you can’t justify two more seasons of tying up the DH position for him just based on tenure if there are better options. Fortunately for him, he’s only mid - not a disaster, so smart money is that they’re going to run it back with him at DH in 2027 and at least try one more year. But if he continues to fall off, it’s going to make for some difficult in-season decisions unless they can hide him with phantom IL stints for most of 2027.
  18. I think Jett is a guy the Brewers will look to move at some point. He just doesn’t have any obvious role on the team, his prospect pedigree makes him fairly valuable and they would need to add him to their 40 next season. Unfortunately, the timing sucks. We will probably have to let him get healthy, hope he rakes for a month or so and maybe move him in the offseason, Brock Wilken and Luke Adams may need to get traded for the same reasons. All potential roster crunch victims that have value.
  19. I think the Vikings will be better. They won 9 games last year I believe with a QB situation that could literally not have been worse. The Lions I don’t see as a SB contender but I don’t know who even really fits the definition in the NFC. I could easily see the Seahawks drifting back to 9 wins and none of the North teams winning 10 would be a huge shock to me. If I had to pick a NFC favorite I’d go with the Rams but I’m not extremely confident in it.
  20. One thing I hope we can throw in the trash can this year is the “youngest team in the NFL” narrative that we like to spin every year to insinuate that “young” equates to “ascending” when it often in fact, does not.
  21. I would guess they’re still probably a 9-10 win team if Parsons is healthy this year, but we’ll see. If January comes around and all of the sudden you’re a 6-11 win team then it becomes pretty scary. Then you have no real direction, a HC you just extended, no 1st, and a franchise QB that is fine but not really an elevating one. At that point I think you’d have to have all options on the table, including a total tear down and seeing what you could get for Parsons and Love, but I don’t think they’d have the stones for it. More likely they’d spin some narrative of what went wrong in ‘26 and tell us why the same will produce better results in 2027, I dunno. The division will be very tough. Maybe they can tread water until Parsons is healthy, and maybe LVN will come into his own and once Parsons returns they look a lot like the first couple weeks last season. Maybe the offense runs well through Golden/Watson/Reed and Kraft is healthy and Jacobs has enough for one more season. But there are a whole lot of maybes between 6 wins and 12 wins.
  22. Should be the same mid team that we are every year. 6 or 7 seed, likely first round exit. We’ve quietly gone from NFC Championship contenders on an annual bases to more competing for the 2nd or 3rd best team in the division. And we paint it in a positive light because Aaron Rodgers isn’t here anymore and we didn’t completely fall apart after him so we should be ever so grateful for that. Truthfully I’d rather fall apart for a couple years and take our lumps if we can rebuild this team for a couple years but that’s clearly not happening anytime soon especially after the Parsons acquisition.
  23. Not sure what you would get for him. More than Aaron Civale, but my guess is he has more value to us than he would be worth on the trade market.
