I suppose their thinking was that the difference between 16 and 17 is more significant than the difference between 15 and 16 as far as an in game lead.
Analytically, I wouldn't mind it if they went for 2 every time (except for situations which obviously calls for the contrary, like a XP wins the game.) Having a kicker who has shown that XPs aren't automatic certainly contributes to that.
How easy was it to predict that the Packers D would immediately and swiftly shift the momentum in this game negatively on the first drive of the second half?
I've seen Campbell go for it when the punt seems obvious and punt in 4th and short situations in opposing territory when it seems like the obviously wrong move. He's tough to read.
Same thing I was thinking. They've started doing it lately and for no apparent reason got away from it there. Even if Dillon didn't go the wrong way he had no shot and was going to get blown up in the backfield.
