May v Ray. A fun matchup of names.

Things aren't looking good. Guys are underperforming. Guys are banged up. Winning with depth has been their recipe all season, having a deeper bench, a deeper staff, a deeper bullpen has allowed them to keep winning series all season. But much of that depth has been sucked dry, and the Brewers, on August 12th, are a shell of the team they were designed to be, and now we're left knowing what it's like to try and field a winning team without any shortstops.

Right now, on August 12th, I don't believe the Brewers will be able to hold off the Cubs for the division. But if they can tread water for the next two weeks, and be in a healthier position come Aug 31 for that series at Wrigley, I think they can right the ship. But they will need to bunt and bullpen, and Murph their way to scratch out wins. It's going to be an absolute bear to watch, and if I were to make bets, I don't think they can "tread water". I think they will go something like 7-10 in the next 17 games, and I could see it being worse, particularly because they are having to try and monitor pitcher workloads at the same time.

As impossible as it is to believe, the Brewers have basically been an average MLB offense since the deadline, and they've been winning. But they've played the Marlins, Mets, Rockies, Giants, Angels, Pirates, and Twins. I agree with the IGT's consensus, that they will need to play better in order to beat the teams coming up on the schedule.

If that is to come about, I think the two main keys will be our Venezuelans. Coming into the season, I think most of us felt like Contreras and Chourio were our two best position-players (Turang has since surpassed them both, despite his platoon splits). They will need to play like that for the Brewers to win the division+. We can blame all the other players all we want, but those two are the two most important bats to wake up. Not Yelich, who, due to his role as a DH, can simply ride the pine, and be a pinch-hitting threat. Not Hamilton or Bae, or whoever else is batting 7, 8, 9, or starting the game on the bench.

Chourio and Contreras MUST be hitting in the middle of that lineup every day and performing in their roles if the Brewers are going anywhere. This has been true all season.

Well this game can help validate the trade or provide more reason why the prospects given up were too much. May needs to be the stopper and based on what we are seeing from Harrison one of the top two or three pitchers down the stretch and into the playoffs.

with Ortiz, Pratt, and now Turang apparently, hurt at the same time, this has the feel of the 2025 Packers type of season where injuries are just stacking left and right at the wrong time.

I'm headed to the ballpark to will on a victory in person. 

Strongly agree that getting a solid performance out of May is exactly what need. Especially since he cost a premium and is facing one of the "discount" starting pitcher acquisitions in Ray. 

To put it more bluntly, Ray sucks. We need the offense to show up.

Why aren't you all PRAYING harder?  lol   Man, the Brewers stunk that one up last night.  Now we got Robbie Ray salivating to improve his numbers with the limp noodle Brewers offense.   Oh boy..  

Too be honest, Sunday I just had a feeling this Padres series was going to be bad when I saw the probable starters for San Diego.

Enjoy the game.  Man I love that ballpark.  It’s been a long time since I’ve gone but I remember they wouldn’t let you go down the aisles either while the inning was in progress or in between pitches.  I can’t remember which it was but I remember it being awesome.
