  1. I dunno if we would have, but I’m pretty convinced we win Game 1 if Brice wears one.
  2. Good to see that you’re at least being honest about your fandom now and no longer pretending.
  3. “Springer, you idiot, why would you swing at that?” - Me, who would probably need to start my swing before the ball even left Yamamoto’s hand, from my couch
  4. This series is making me sad that we didn’t put up even a smidgen of a fight. This is like a back and forth, 10 round heavyweight fight. The NLCS was more like a 94 second prime Mike Tyson versus some local journeyman fight.
  5. As someone who hasn’t the slightest idea of how NBA contracts are supposed to work I am happy to know we just signed him to a cheap 3 year deal.
  6. Is this supporting cast just a lot better than we figured on? Mostly everyone contributed. We all pretty much agreed Cole Anthony was a hell of a minimum signing. Ryan Rollins looks really legit.
  7. There was only one issue. It was the hitting. That was the problem. Not half of it.
  8. It is a lot more impressive than scoring 4 total runs in 4 games. We allowed 3.75 runs per game in the NLCS — the Jays are currently averaging 3.6 runs allowed per game. The fact that we got soundly swept while the Jays are up 3-2 has nothing to do with the insignificant difference between those numbers and everything to do with the fact that the Blue Jays are hitting and we did not.
  9. I struggle to understand why people lump our pitching in with our hitting as to why we lost the NLCS. Our pitching wasn’t perfect, it could have been better against a really elite lineup, but you can win an NLCS with the pitching we had. They kept us in every single game. Some guys had great individual performances and others did not. Our hitting problems were a significantly greater contributor to losing this series. We did not just hit badly, it was historically badly. The performances were woeful across the board except for maybe 1-2 guys. You hate to just pin it on one group but when you literally needed to pitch 4 shutouts to win the series, the hitting really was the full stop reason for our unsightly exit.
  10. Yeah, it’s really disappointing. Nitpicking on Murphy here, because he’s obviously a good manager, but I could have done without the whole “us average Joes against Goliath” mentality. It’s not productive to say that the Dodgers probably barely know anyone on our roster. Did we just miracle our way to 97 wins? The Dodgers are obviously superbly talented but not infallible. Learn from it and be ready to play next year. It was obviously still a far better outcome than losing to the Cubs.
  11. It’s definitely probably not accurate for us to assume that we would have beaten the Jays, which I think many fans were.
  12. The offense in general operates much better when Doubs isn’t being force-fed the ball.
  13. Hobbs played 3 snaps last night. It will be 1 in the box because 2 were called back by penalty. That 4/48 is not looking great.
  14. Yeah, that’s totally fair. I’ve accused him of riding Rodgers’ coattails for his pretty record and been frustrated with his slow starts but whatever his adjustments were in the second half, he nailed it.
  15. Ok. That’s game now.
  16. Can we not make this silly interesting for no reason?
  17. Agreed. Lions game was our best game of the season, but it’s also week 1 so take with a grain of salt. Today is by far our best road performance which is important.
  18. Good coverage. We did something positive on ST.
  19. I’d assume it if Boswell comes up to kick one down 2 with 3 seconds tonight.
  20. Yeah, didn’t love that 2nd and 8 call.
  21. McManus leaving 6 points on the board feels pretty big right now.
  22. Most teams start out their drives after a kickoff from around the 30-35 these days. Our return teams still prefer the traditional 20-25.
  23. This is by far our worst special teams game of the season …. And if you have any familiarity with our special teams, that is not an easy accomplishment.
  24. So it’s fine that Rodgers just threw the ball directly into the ground?
