  1. That’s kind of what I figured. I know you can’t take analytics as gospel but I assumed a strong recommendation to go for the 4th.
  2. Not necessarily true. There was still enough time to get the ball back if you fail on 4th. You need to hold them to 3 and out, but either way, you aren't winning the game if you can’t stop them from driving down the field, even if you make a FG. ”Kick the FG to tie it there” makes it sound automatic. If it was, I imagine the discussion is different. You have a street kicker with a special teams unit that has already allowed two blocked kicks this year. I imagine the difference in odds between a successful 47 yard FG and a successful 4th down conversion were marginal at best.
  3. One thing that needs to be considered when making these decisions is that getting into FG range used to be like a 45-50 yard task (touchback at the 20, drive to the 30 or 35). Nowadays you’re starting with touchbacks at the 35 and most kickers have leg for 60 or beyond. So you’re talking maybe 20-25 yards to get in range. Case in point the 7 second drive before halftime. It took absolutely nothing but a touchback, an intermediate route against a soft zone, an immediate timeout and a kick. I felt nearly certain that if we kicked we were losing either 23-20 or 26-23.
  4. I think the biggest thing they have going for them is that everyone else looks equally as mediocre. Tampa Bay is technically the best team in the NFC, and it wouldn’t surprise me a bit if we went into their place and beat them. Or lost. Same with the Rams, Lions, Vikings, 49ers and Eagles. Wouldn’t shock me either way. Sheesh honestly you could add 5 more teams to that list. It’s really anybody’s conference this year. Regular season record and playing as many playoff games at home as possible will be a big deal.
  5. I’m going to totally disagree. As good as Havrisik has been for us, he was 4 for 9 from 40+ before getting here. They were talking on the broadcast like this kick was a chip shot. 47 yards, on the road, pressure situation, for a guy who was on the couch 2 weeks ago, is no sure thing. Then even IF you make it, you still have to hold them out of FG range (which we didn’t do). Then even IF you do that you still have to win in OT. Just too many things you need to go right if you trot the FG kicker out there. Going for it was the right call and also helped burn more clock off.
  6. Just so people have their expectations in check on what “go for it” actually means. Our version of “go for it” is something the Dodgers would find to be …adorable, would be one way to put it.
  7. As an owner of Kyler Murray in several dynasty superflex leagues I am not feeling great about it.
  8. My guess is roughly the same. Freddy has a cheaper contract but Burnes had the better track record and was more of a reliable workhorse. Something around the same value but obviously different in structure. I dunno. Ortiz looked like a pretty good acquisition a year ago and now not so much.
  9. Let’s put some respect on Lucas Havrisik’s name. If he doesn’t connect from 61 for the franchise record, Arizona likely wins it with a FG on that last drive. He came through yet again.
  10. This defense has not been as good as it should be yet this season but it has not been because of Parsons.
  11. Gary always overpursues.
  12. lol Hobbs. What a terrible signing by Gute.
  13. Kicked it into the end zone for mistake number 1. Now they only need to go 65 yards.
  14. Whew. In real time I thought I saw a slight bobble.
  15. Lol. Matt Lafleur and his 3rd and short calls . You can’t make this crap up.
  16. Now you absolutely have to capitalize with 7.
  17. That would have been classic Packers if we gave up the 4th on a 12 men penalty.
  18. Packers defense: “We finally got a stop to hold them to 3! Keep it rolling?” Packers offense and special teams: “Lol naw”
  19. When I pointed out that Stokes had to settle for a small one year deal and Hobbs got a big multi year deal despite them being nearly identically rated on PFF, I was told Stokes was garbage and Hobbs was super underrated.
  20. Hafley has really not impressed me this year. You add one of the best pass rushers in the game and somehow you don’t really improve?
  21. Me: “Sweet 7 second drive before half to salvage 3! Can we make some adjustments at halftime, come out and regroup, and build on that?” Packers: “Lolol 3 and out coming up for ya”
  22. That will be interesting trivia in a few years.
  23. Yeah … if you trade for Micah Parsons, you’re saying something about your expectations. And those don’t include flirting with a 6/7 seed and a first round exit.
  24. That made me feel a little better. Finally a special teams bright spot. It’s going to be sad when we have to cut this kicker because he’s done everything he’s been asked to do.
