  1. He has one of the best eyes in the league. If you’re right, you get a pass.
  2. I really don’t think a .445 OPS and 0 extra basehits is helping us win games now. As SeaBass mentioned, he’s already been semi-benched.
  3. I actually think this is about as low pressure of an environment, at least as much as that can be at this level making your debut, as anyone could ask for. He's already secured the bag and his future. Poor performance won’t take that away. The offensive bar for him to meet couldn’t possibly have been set any lower. You could easily argue that it’s just as beneficial for his development to start learning his craft against big league pitching.
  4. This season was supposed to be the season when Ortiz *should* have some positive regression. Instead, he got even worse. I think we need to consider the strong possibility that 2024 was the aberration.
  5. Pratt has been swinging a better bat lately. We know he’s our guy going forward. You’re not really losing anything, so I’d be fine going to Pratt anytime at this point and living through the growing pains.
  6. Nah, better off just ignoring you going forward, it’s no longer worth the time or energy.
  7. Some perspective: on May 17th last year we were 21-25 and had just gotten shut out for the 4th time in 5 games. Given the rash of bad injuries, it hasn’t been as bad as it feels.
  8. Which is a really important aspect to a winning team, I think. The bullpen has stunk, but that’s more variable and fixable. It was interesting that Murphy let Harrison go over 100 pitches today. Maybe it was just a one off, or maybe the pen has left him with little choice, but I hope he loosens the reigns on the starters and lets them start working deeper.
  9. Harrison has been one of the big bright spots. Nice to get back in the W column.
  10. Pat Murphy postgame presser last night: ”There’s no guarantee that we jump right out of this. This might be whatever it might be.” Skip, if that rally speech doesn’t fire up the troops to start turning this around, nothing will.
  11. I agree that you may as well swap Jones out for Lara at this point and see if you can get a spark. It may be harsh, but when you’re the 25th or 26th man on the roster and only got up because of injuries, you either show something fast or get ready to pack your bags.
  12. No one on this board complains more than you. You just complain about people complaining, constantly.
  13. That Zerpa trade looks rough. I’ll take Mears back and they can keep the change.
  14. You can play him every day in Milwaukee . He doesn’t currently have better options blocking him.
  15. Cant argue with it, have added some good pieces on D for not having a 1st.
  16. Mike Washington is my totally uneducated guess for our next pick.
  17. Yeah, I am being a bit disingenuous and tongue in cheek because of our tendency to draft players that are often still in developmental stages and don’t contribute early (Van Ness, Gary, etc). As you and others have pointed out, the Packers current CB room means Cisse would have to be disastrous not to contribute as a rookie.
  18. All the piling on we did on the Cubs on page 1 has not been aging well.
  19. “We’ve always tried to take guys who have more left in development,” Gutekunst said. “He played at a high level this year. We think he’s going to really help us next year, and we think his upside’s really good. There’s not a lot of 20-year-olds in the draft. We took one one time in Kenny Clark, and that worked out pretty well. We hope this works out that well. No hesitation.” Translation: don’t expect anything out of Cisse for at least two seasons.
  20. Wright is the kind of “insider” who just throws 50 plausible things at the wall and then reminds you that he called it first when 10% of them end up being randomly true.
  21. Jayden Reed extended , 3 years, $50M. This feels cheap for what the WR market looks like.
  22. Maybe. It’s probably being overly dissected, I guess the bottom line is that we had a lot of opportunities yesterday to come away with a lot more runs and steal a win with Skubal on the mound and did not get the job done.
  23. It’s unusual only because you’re usually taking all the way. If Contreras takes and a throw goes to 2nd, the plan is going to be for Turang to stop and get in a rundown if he isn’t going to trot in safely to get Lockridge in from 3rd. I’m not even sure that they’re going to throw down. The odds of Turang getting thrown out at 2nd with Lockridge still just standing there on 3rd not scoring are pretty much nonexistent.
