  1. ON: OF Garrett Mitchell, activated P Logan Henderson, activated The 40-man roster is at 38.
  2. Women's team played well enough for 38 minutes to take down Marquette on their court, but just couldn't seal it. It would have been a nice win for them, they need something positive. Forbes rises to the occasion for Marquette. Kennedi Perkins left with looked like a nasty concussion, hope she is OK.
  3. OFF: P Brandon Woodruff, contract expired P Jose Quintana, contract expired C Danny Jansen, contract expired 1B Rhys Hoskins, contract expired ON: P Sammy Peralta, claimed P Coleman Crow, selected The 40-man roster is at 36.
  4. And now for something completely different: no sign of Marlins Man in Toronto. Passport issues?
  5. Red Sox, 1986
  6. Darn.
  7. People are calling this one of the greatest WS games ever. I'm curious to the viewership numbers after the 12th inning, if it would rival an NHL game or even an indoor soccer playoff game. If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around, does it make a sound?
  8. Also, do not overlook that his lack of running a tight ship may have led indirectly to a suicide of one of his athletes.
  9. One thing not discussed here yet is the expose' the Wisconsin State Journal did last month on the athletic department. Now it's facing a big lawsuit from former athletes. This could be the thing that does Mac in.
  10. As said above, a gut-punch to be a Mariners fan. Three innings away from a WS and a win prob up to 82%. I've been to both cities and love them both. Was pulling for Seattle to get their first WS. I wanted to sit down and watch this game, and caught innings two and three. Looks like I missed a good one. But only so many hours in a day. Retirement can't get here soon enough.
  11. I would give it Bauers (+0.07 WPA), but yeah, Durbin was #2 at +0.00 WPA. :( P.S. Yelich was #3 at -0.13 WPA.
  12. Yelich was the team's LVP that series. Yeah, had the home run, then followed up with a GIDP to kill a rally.
  13. I didn't tune in until just after Ohtani's second homer, and didn't know he was starting. So this "greatest single playoff game performance" didn't have the full affect on me. Interestingly, I go fangraphs and his WPA for the game is just +.35, while Yamamoto's Game 2 was +.37. So it wasn't even the best single performance this *series*. I've been OK with Brian Anderson and the number of games he worked this season, but watching the games and Brian getting excited about the opposition was hard to swallow. Yes, I'm aware he is paid to do it and he would do it for whomever would have won. Maybe time for him to move on and fully commit to bigger things, like Gary Bender, Merle Harmon or Matt V.? I know some people chuckled when he first signed on, but he made people forget about Darren Sutton real quick. I was at the UW-UCLA volleyball match, which afterwards I made small talk with the father of a UCLA player who was wearing a Dodgers cap, going "at least you'll have one win tonight". He was very complimentary towards the Brewers and said they have nothing to be ashamed of, they had the best record. I can envision next season when the Dodgers visit Milwaukee for the crowd to erupt in "Lock Them Out!!" chants, if only to troll the Dodgers, but also to send a message to MLB and the country. Maybe other cities can join in. For me, this season was the most fun watching since 2018 and am sad the fun is over.
  14. Being a numbers guy, something I've done after every series since 2011 is to analyse the WPA for the series. 2025 NLDS vs Cubs: 1. Patrick (+.38) 2. Vaughn (+.33) 3. Misiorowski (+.28) 4. Chourio (+.23) 5. Contreras (+.22) 6. Uribe (+.16) As we know by now, the series was won by the bullpen and three bats, and the numbers show it.
  15. Yes, a very enjoyable win. I'm in the minority, that I'm neutral on the whole Counsel thing. So beating him didn't matter much to me. Just the psychological boost by snapping the series losing streak, and the regular season justified by taking advantage of the 1-seed. And sending home a group of people who posses a high snootiness level. As a child of the 70's, the LCS and WS really only matter to me. To me LCS >> LDS. The win was nice, but more important games to follow. Prior to the game, I was resigned to prepare for the worst but hope for the best. A loss would have sucked, but I would have been over it in a week. The first post-season match up between the two clubs, but I'm sure more to follow in the next 25 years. Future opportunities for revenge if it came to it. I'm streaming the Chicago Marathon right now and thinking how cool it would have been to be there strutting around downtown in Brewers swag.
  16. The only thing giving me comfort right now is that Poto has MIL -148/CHC +123. Basically a 57/43 proposition. These are the people that should know. About to get the oven ready for a pizza and sit down nervously for three hours. If the Brewers are behind mid-9th, I may not watch the end, even if a walk-off is possible.
  17. Worse than 2018 Game 7? That game had more riding on it.
  18. They throw a lot numbers and stats on the screen, but the one that caught my eye was this being the 55th post-season game in club history. I would have guessed thirties, given the the 26-year drought. Caught the guy behind the Cubs' dugout wearing a "bambi bombers" T-shirt. I had the exact same shirt, but faded 40 years ago. How did he keep it looking so new?
  19. That's the run line. Meaningless. All the games are 1.5 runs. The Brewers are -155 to win, a solid favorite.
  20. OFF: P Bruce Zimmerman, outrighted P Erick Fedde, outrighted The 40-man roster is at 38.
  21. As well as Marquette.
  22. Using my stat skills, I computed the odds of attending 1-9 as 1:4,454. The Brewers have lost four (out of 154) games that had a win prob >90%. You've seen three. Those odds are 1:12,204. Please, stay away.
  23. 6-1. The only loss the HR derby game where I didn't arrive until the 6th. Next game: NLCS.
  24. OFF: P Joel Payamps, DFA ON: P Bruce Zimmerman, selected The 40-man roster is full.
  25. I had two options this afternoon: Option A) Watch Badgers football. Option B) Watch the replay of the women's marathon World Championship race from last Saturday. I made the correct choice. And was more entertained.
