  1. Same here! HBOBB is what appeared in the "scoring" section of the ribbon board. I added 2U to my scorebook as well as "HBOBB" (in quotes). If the Brewers ever bring back Baseball Bingo, I hope they use HBOBB for a square. Zach wasn't so much "pitching really well" as "pitching well enough." Even before Billy Butler got himself on my baseball enemies list, I realized that the pace of Zach's pitch count wasn't consistent with lasting nine innings. Still, a nice effort, and if he's the odd man out when Garza comes back, I will be unhappy. I saw the pic of your scorebook on Facebook and it was the first thing I searched for. The view from my seat had the perfect vantage, but alas I was at the concession stand. I didn't clearly see the play but did see the ump's non-verbal communication and understood the call. My first thought was to look at the auxiliary board and sure enough they were on top of it!
  2. A new one tonight - had to make an entry in my scorebook for "Hit By Own Batted Ball" (HBOBB).
  3. I missed the game due to other commitments. In hind sight, would have been nice to catch some of it. I was a ten year old in 1976 and I really did like the robin egg blue scheme with the Blue with yellow trim. The M on the caps looked a tad too big.
  4. The job that Ned Yost was groomed for.
  5. You'll have to bring up and extra arm for that double-header.
  6. Reminds me of a Brewer game against the Yankees about 30 years ago where New York scored a run and no one knew but the umps. The score on the scoreboard was wrong and the final score reported on the national media was wrong.
  7. WTMJ has new graphics during their newscasts which involve rotating gifs in the corner of the screen. Quite distracting.
  8. That was fun to follow the last month. Glad they got it done this weekend as I have to work this Saturday and will miss the matches. Spurs self-destructing in the second half with the season on the line, lucky they finished with eleven men on the pitch.
  9. Watching the match Sunday, I chuckled when the announcer described Leicester as a "collection of cast-offs and late bloomers". Kinda describes another club we know.
  10. And the correct ruling. I wouldn't have considered it a routine play.
  11. Odell Jones took one into the ninth, 1988.
  12. I remember seeing something on TV way back on this subject, say black uniforms (before they became trendy) ie Raiders, but also when the Pittsburgh Penguins switched their primary color from blue to black mid-season circa late 70s and there was an immediate effect on performance.
  13. "Robin egg blue" was used through 84 (or 85). It was around that time most teams switched to gray.
  14. The last two Sundays now catching Leicester City's magical run. A wild final 15' today. How did that free kick not go in?
  15. I believe the scoring will go three earned runs charged to Nelson and the "Team", one earned run for Blazek but unearned to the "Team". Team ER do not have to add up to the sum of the individuals.
  16. I believe he has his own baseball card, position listed as "Des. Runner". Think Topps 1974.
  17. Gallardo was painful to watch. Im not just saying Nelson is a good pitcher, I said he is enjoyable to watch. Gallardo was the king of the 20 pitch 1-2-3 inning and that just isnt fun to watch on TV. Yovani just couldn't punch a guy out. I was one who was getting quite frustrated at the high pitch counts going in to the fifth.
  18. It happened. When Ron Wolf first came to Green Bay, one of the first things he tried to do was change the color schematic to Notre Dame colors. That didn't go over well.
  19. I went to sports card and memorabilia show this past Sunday and it had maybe a third of the vendors compared to ten years ago and very few browsers.
  20. I would so love to respond to this, but it would have to go to the political thread.
  21. Did he work the 1982 World Series for NBC?
  22. Hey fans, March is approaching and no one has brought BF's annual Winter Meetings. Is there still any interest?
  23. It is. But remember, it's the generation that also came up with many of the great words and phrases still used in baseball today, so take the good with the bad. (Then again "hardball" doesn't bother me anyhow, unless it's said by someone under 70.) This is the generation that went crazy over rec (fast-pitch and slow-pitch) softball in the 70's.
