  1. Yes, dated by a couple of days. The only Brewer to throw a no-hitter as we all know. Had a chance to see make a mound visit during my visit to Fenway last month. Red Sox starters have the highest ERA in AL. The starter that day gave up 8 in 6 innings.
  2. Who's the guy in the orange shirt along the touch line?
  3. In 1995, Wisconsin defeated Duke 2-0 to win the NCAA championship in men's soccer. The Wisconsin State Journal's (I believe) Andy Baggot wrote afterwards how nice it would be if the same could happen in basketball. Tonight's the night. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1995_NCAA_Division_I_Men's_Soccer_Championship
  4. He still owns the site, but he's focusing on other things in his life now. He might still be lurking around here for all I know. I bumped into Brian thirty minutes ago. I told him about this thread. He said he'd check it out.
  5. Ma Fischer's The Gyro Stand (Clement & Oklahoma) City Market (Watertown Plank Rd.)
  6. Riverfront Pizza isn't far from Discovery World. What do you want to know about Country Springs? I live ten minutes away?
  7. D5 champ Young Coggs Prep is located three blocks from where I work. I didn't know it before last weekend and I've driven past it everyday for the last year. Also, they beat Hustisford in the sectional final, and we have employees drive in from Hustisford after we consolidated operations.
  8. I have two, about to get a third. I have no problem with it. People think I look cool in them. My motto is "If you look good, you feel good." I have a Lance Armstrong jersey that was a prized find after cowering the internet for a year. Now, I never dare wear it in public.
  9. Tom Skilling worked in Madison back in the day.
  10. Hmmm, must be the study center. I had to wait two weeks for the first study. Then when we agreed to do the study with the CPAP, they wanted me in the next day, though I chose to wait a week.
  11. "Jericho's official random thoughts thread brought to you by brewerfan.net"
  12. I find that I was only 20% vested, hence they pulled their money back per their policy.
  13. Follow up: I was there seven months, then laid-off. I'll have to read the fine print before I can answer the above questions. I don't feel ripped-off, just irked. The ability for them to pull the money back surprised me, never heard of it.
  14. I still have my 401-k vested with my former employer who laid me off in June, 2009. In August, my 401-k took a big hit when the DJI declined modestly. Thought it was curious but didn't dig deep into it. Now, I'm looking to roll it over to my new employer. Today I see the statement a line that $5,200 was "forfeited" in August. Help Desk explained that the former employer retracted 80% of its contributions because I wasn't employed there five years, and would have retracted at any attempt to rollover anytime, anyhow. Didn't know a former employer could do that.
  15. If one is looking for a metric, how about road attendance? Talented/Winning teams draw well on the road. It's one criteria I use when selecting which Brewers home games to attend.
  16. Ugh. Thanks for posting. I didn't see it as I turned away for a moment to hear people groan. Anyone have video of Pagnozzi allowing a pop foul to land on the on-deck circle?
  17. Glad you brought up 1983. Everyone talks about 1982 and all, yet no one remembers they were successful the following year as well. First place in August until the (ironically) west coast road trip from hell. The days as an AL powerhouse were gone forever.
  18. Milwaukee has a roof, so it's hospitable to a cold weather team that plays its home games outdoors.
  19. Last week I vacationed in Montreal. Took a tour of Olympic Stadium. One of the tour guides was a big baseball fan and assured me "We're gonna get another team, we're gonna get another team...in three years!" Could it be you don't have a team anymore is because few people came to see the last team?
  20. So the competition is over. Three of the last six Winter Olympics I've had the opprotunity to pretty much watch unlimited coverage. The question is, will NBC again break away from the Closing Ceremonies to premiere some lame show, only to resume coverage after we all went to bed?
  21. John Morgan (my favorite TV sports analyst of all-time): "Jamaica missed a practice run due to a delay in their equipment arriving. Didn't matter, Winston Watts was too busy signing autographs to practice anyways." -- I see a video tribute to the Jamaican bobsled is out ("It's Bobsled Time!"), with viral potential. -- Japan's women's hockey team had an Aoki, but no Brewers mojo as Japan finished last.
  22. The job market in 2014 compared to 2009 is day and night, at least in my field. Don't play the desperation card. LinkedIn is a good way to go. Search LinkedIn or google to locate meet-and-greets and support groups.
  23. Missed shots and bad strategy. For anyone reading this who doesn't know, you only get 8 stones in a curling end. To score 7 points, you need to have 7 of those 8 stones closer to the 'button' (the center of the painted rings on the end of the ice you're throwing to) than the other team. By the time the other team has 6 stones in the house, and you're sitting with all of your stones out in front of the house....most teams would look to hit some of the other team's shots and start to cut down on the potential damage. Instead, they kept trying to draw in (throwing weight to land in the house, without hitting the other team's stones). It's inexplicable to me what they were thinking in that moment. Not sure if there's a youtube clip yet; I know there wasn't one when I went looking on Tuesday night. http://www.nbcolympics.com/news/still-winless-us-falls-hard-great-britain Still looking for the clip so I can see how the whole end developed.
  24. I see in today's paper the USA women's curling gave up a seven-spot, a dubious Olympic record. What the heck? I don't usually go scouring the internet for curling videos, but I'm curious.
  25. I missed it, what happened? I saw there were a lot of penalties. Twice missed CAN with too many women. Also, CAN's second goal was controversial. Blew the whistle as the puck was sliding under Vetter across the goal line. The whistle shouldn't have been blown, and it was blown before the puck crossed the line. Finally, inconsistency on what was whistled for checking and what was let go.
