  1. I've seen the Brewers reach the post-season three times and each time the berth was secured the final Saturday or Sunday. For once, I would like to see them clinch early - at home against the Philiies or Rockies and just enjoy the ride the rest of the way.
  2. Not to steal jjgott's thunder, but I watched "Scarface" on AMC the other night. Yadier's scoreboard mugshot reminds me of Tony Montana.
  3. Yes, an exciting match to watch. Glad I stuck around to the end.
  4. Sweet.
  5. The hotel that I'm currently staying at has haikus posted all over. Only on brewerfan can I relay those here. Business center For your convenience and use Ask if you need help The computer is An hour behind in time Our apologies Bag carts used by all Please return them to first floor Thanks from future guests
  6. Last night was my first time watching Nelson Cruz since the trade. And he goes out and scores the winning run.
  7. Just spent 40 minutes watching "In The Middle" because my DVR stammers and freezes every five seconds. My VCR never did that. Let's hear it for all this technology that makes our lives easier. Hallelujah!
  8. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who feels this way. The Twins had a better team in 1988 and didn't make the post season, so I thought that would be enough to take the bitter taste of 1987 out of my mouth. However, to this day the Twins winning that WS still sticks in my craw. Could you imagine the horrors if Milwaukee became a AAA team for one of the Chicagos? We'd never hear the end of it! To answer the OP, I would lose interest in professional baseball altogether.
  9. A couple of years ago someone here posted defensive position vs. OPS It was a pretty strong inverse correlation.
  10. Doing it right now. Get back to me in three years. On a related note, "a bird in the hand IS better than two in the bush".
  11. That was the day of Game 4 of the Phillies series. She had about an hour after finishing her marathon to get to the park, shower up, dress and get to work. I find that even more amazing.
  12. I had that problem with the houses adjacent to our sub-division, whose owners would not clear the sidewalk that abuts their backyards. One phone call to my council member, who then called the engineering department and missiona ccomplished - warnings issued to all. Things get done in Waukesha.
  13. Gee, some guys have all the fun. On my 30th, a friend had me over for frozen pizza.
  14. There was a time when nobody wanted to play in Green Bay but once they started winning, Reggie White and everyone else jumped on the bandwagon. Everybody loves a winner!
  15. I saw Phil Gardner do that once with David Weathers. But that was Phil Gardner being Phil Gardner.
  16. I'm still going to go with '78-'83, '87-'88, plus the last four listed. They were an AL powerhouse six straight years, and the '88 was still alive heading into the final weekend.
  17. Tom Trebelhorn did this once in the late 80's. A game in Toronto? Put the RP at firstbase just in case, but the second RP recorded the game's final out.
  18. I was able to convince the bartender in the small town I'm staying at to put on the Tour de France, only to find out Dish doesn't carry Versus network.
  19. Of course! Feel free to use my name.
  20. Ugh! This happened to me the July 5th game, Molitor Lot. The two guys were stnading there, which would have been fine with me, except for the fact they stand one foot, maybe two feet in front of the stall. I though I was going to hit them.. So I asked them to "back off" and his snarky reply was "I'm not in your way".
  21. What exactly is Gerut's heel injury? I'm currently receiving physical therapy for a heel injury and it's been a long, long, long and frusterating process.
  22. I was at the game Monday and was hoping for a PH appearance. Darn.
  23. The rarest event I've seen in an MLB game was 1977 or 1978 a player was declared out for batting out of order. Little League stuff. Bill Hall almost did the same thing a few years back, but corrected the situation during his PA.
  24. The very same thoughts entered my mind last night. John Cook and the 'Huskers coming to the Big Ten would put two of the nations top four programs in the conference. I guess the Badgers won't be winning any titles again for a few decades. My HR manager is an Illinois grad and big time into volleyball. I'm curious to her thoughts. I was thinking about other non-revenue sports. Track and CC don't play round-robin, so no issue there. Probably negligiable for women's hoops except for a return to an unbalanced schedule. Plenty of room in the soccer schedules. The Big Ten doesn't recognize hockey. If they have to go with twelve schools, I guess I could live with that. I refer they get rid of Penn State instead. Sixteen schools is too much for me, it would no longer feel like a conference.
  25. Bayern controls play in the second half, but all Inter needed was one counter-attack to put it away.
