  1. Trenni Kusnierek scheduled to be a curling sideline reporter, although she wasn't on today. And Randy Moss sideline reporter for ski jumping(?)
  2. Not attacking you or anything but people always bring up "name recognition" and "brand" when it comes to the Olympics. That's why people say Lolo Jones made the bobsled team. Personally, I don't care about established name recognition or anything like that. I just want to see great athletes perform. You don't get the name recognition/brand until you do something great. That's what the Olympics (should) allow athletes to do. Everybody starts out as a nobody until they do something great. Every Olympics will have unknown athletes that emerge and become fan favorites. First possible candidate is Kate Hansen. Her pre-race ritual has "viral" potential.
  3. First time in several Olympics former NFL playcaller Tim Ryan isn't doing Alpine Skiing. My favorite Ryan quote came in 1994 Lillehammer describing bare chested Norwegian spectators, "Must be Green Bay Packer fans!!". In hockey, some chime is played at each penalty call, same as Vancouver. Is this some international hockey thing? Favorite LOL moment from today- A.J. Mleczko: "When Hillary Knight left Wisconsin, she weighed 159 pounds. She hit the weight room and now weighs 180, would like to get to 185." Mike Emrick: "Some of us can get to 185, without the weight training."
  4. I think it's a throwback to the old days when one had to strap on the skis and go shoot dinner.
  5. I love the Winter Olympics, much more than the Summer version. The X-games type of events I can take-or-leave, otherwise I'll be watching every minute I can.
  6. What are the odds Axford saves Game 7 of the World Series this year? Given the Cardinals recent history, it may be greater than you think.
  7. That's awesome. Did you have a necklace made of second basemen's teeth? October 31, 1973 No, no teeth available at the time. http://my.execpc.com/~silkey/AZC10.JPG
  8. Easily my favorite Brewer as a kid. Dressed as him for Halloween in I believe '74. I'm not an autograph collector, but was thrilled to meet him about five years ago.
  9. Caleb Gindl got his first big league hit in yesterday's game. No acknowledgement from the scoreboard, instead a "Generac Back-Up Player of the Game" commercial.
  10. How did Dante NOT get a card on that penalty? He would have been sent off.
  11. I found out last night the airspace from Manitowoc to Port Washington just off the lakeshore is classified as "RESTRICTED".
  12. A follow up: took it back to the shop, sound worked fine there. The only thing I did different when I brought it home was plug the speakers in *prior* to powering up and the issue was solved.
  13. I collect the team sets of the Brewers, I don't focus on individuals. I'm attempting to collect all the Brewers team sets, but as RockCoCougars alluded to, too many high-end sets back in the last decade. I had a good friend who got the Bevacqua card in a pack. Robin had to have been 19 in that video, and old enough to drink the Schlitz! I believe Mike Hegan was in there as well.

  15. First things first, are the speakers plugged in correctly, turned on, and can you test them with something else to be sure they are working (an ipod, or a radio, or anything). I powered up my laptop and the speakers worked fine off that. My first thought was the driver. However, it worked fine before last week. Should I uninstall and re-install? What would cause it to fail?
  16. Serious question, please don't laugh. Had the desktop taken in to have some malware removed. Got it back and now I can't get any sound. Volume icon in the taskabr is enabled. Thanks.
  17. Watching WTMJ this morning, I saw something new - the "Car Cam". The had a reporter driving around the back roads of Sheboygan County, "reporting" about how much of a mess it is. As if we didn't already know.
  18. We attempt to make it to one men's game and one women's game a year. Saturday night we checked out the men's team. I'm no hockey conaseur (sp?), just appeared to be to much sloppy passing in the defensive zone. Surprised UAA didn't score more than once.
  19. Ugh. My contract was coming up and hoping the company would hire me permenant. Turns out while they were stalling on getting back to me, they were interviewing my replacement. I'm out Friday, she's in Monday.
  20. Movin' Shoes on S. Park
  21. I was there as well. Don't feel bad about the race. I'm a veteran and my knees were throbbing before the finish. The pavement on Hawley and I think it was 44th were all beat to heck. Took me two days for my legs to feel fine. I exited I-94 at 70th and took Bluemound in. The Molitor lot was open. If you're already planning your next race, you're hooked!
  22. Now they're doing it at college volleyball. Good luck with that, hawing!
  23. Chicago Marathon bans Armstrong http://msn.foxsports.com/cycling/story/lance-armstrong-banned-from-running-chicago-marathon-090712
  24. Exactly as in 2008, NBC with a rather uninspiring final sign-off prior to cutting to a new sitcom they wish to promote.
  25. After posting prolifically four years ago, just my second post on this thread as the games are winding down. My random thoughts: Just got done watching my Super Bowl, the men's marathon. Too bad my man Sammy isn't alive to defend his title. The Ugandan surprises the Kenyans with a basic high school cross-country move at the Mile 23 mark. Good to see Meb climb back from 16th to finish fourth. Nothing wrong with that. The thing about Jordan Weiber not making the AA finals is the setup that caused teammates to compete against each other. Kinda defies the spirit of team sports. Notice how the American media failed to mention three others found themselves also out due to the rule. No, it's not wrong to root against the basketball if you feel the team has prima donnas. I've yet to see one Chinese athlete with a tattoo. Why do the German unis say "GERMANY" instead of "DUETSCHLAND"? This is new. The splash-o-meter during the diving is an intersting new graphic. Something I'd expect from Fox Sports. In the field events for track, I'd wish NBC would post the metric measurements next to the English equivalents. I'd think they'd be easier to follow. A much better showing by the USA track team this time around as opposed to the disaster that was 2008. The relays did much better. It's unfortunate the men's 4x4 couldn't get the gold, but what can you do when you have just Angelo Taylor and three AAA call-ups? I don't know, I just haven't been as inspired by these Olympics like I was in 2008. With the exception of Missy Franklin, it seems it was the same stars in the marquee events. Like trwi7, I prefer the Winter Olympics.
