  1. After the game four weeks ago I put my 'portfolio' in the equipment bag prior to my vacation. It had the scorebook Jamie purchased along with my clipboard and the scoresheets from the first five games. I got the clipboard back. Anyone know where the rest of the stuff is? The scoresheets aren't that big of a deal, it would be nice to keep on record. The score book maybe we could use in the future if we can find it.

    Game 9 recap

Who said we had a bad team? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Welcome to brewerfan.net
  3. Jimbo, do you still have the full resolution pictures of files of the pictures on the team website? Zac, yeah I have all the pics saved.
  4. I wonder how many other teams have their own softball cards? Bay Street Pub = Garbage Pail Kids (those were cards, right?) ---------------- When I posed for my shot, I tried to go with the pensive look. The way it turned out, I don't know how to describe it. LOL Never considered my a pitcher, though. More of a rover, except we decided not utilize a rover, so I guess I'm more of a Utility/Multitasker. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ---------------- Zac, how about a team card? Check out the pic in the pinned thread. --------------- If you can crop Houlie out of the team pic, use it for his card. --------------- You can use the pic I had of valpo making the running catch. --------------- Maybe use the softball logo vs. website logo? Just a suggestion - it would match with the unis. --------------- All I can say is TREMENDOUS JOB! Any plans to make actual cards?

    Game 9 recap

I think that I outta get charged with an error in the first inning? I've been calling those "infield singles" all season. Next year I may have to toughen the standards.

  9. AO = air outs? Don't ask, I got it from mlb.com (AO + GO + K = PO) BF/BB is the ratio of batters faced per walk - something I invented. Keep in mind, foul outs are really strike outs. Give Robin19 credit, plus the catcher gets the putout! Wow nullbyte, I wasn't expecting a recap (nor was anyone else) but I'm glad you did. What a way to finish the game - two OF assists!
  10. Good job, men! I knew my absence would increase the odds of winning. I looked at my watch at 7:57 CDT and realized you were just finishing up. My mind was too involved checking out Beverly Hills real estate. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. First Issue. I got clubbed tonight. 0.1 IP, 6 BB, 1 HR, 7 ER I don't what to say. I just couldn't get comfortable. The silver lining is we found a good guy in Robin19. I'm confident he'll lead the team to victory next week!

  13. What does beravement mean, exactly? Bereavement List (correct spelling-title is wrong) is something MLB established last year. It's for players taking a short term leave of absence for non-baseball related issues. You'd think mlb.com would have a link to this stuff, but nah.
  14. I'll be here THIS Thursday, guys! May I suggest: Start myself at P, Robin19 at 2B. If need be, we'll just switch? I will also vote 'daisy chain'. The bottom of the order has ben shorted the last two games. And averages say we'll only miss out on a run ot two. Also, I thought Jamie would be batting.
  15. AP - The Brewerfan.net Gamers today announced U Jimbo will be placed on the Beravement List proactive to July 4. He will miss the July 6 Landmark due to family obligations (vacation). This opens a spot on the 20-man roster. I'll be in SoCal enjoying fun in the sun. This should allow enought time for defensive re-alignments. Right now nullbyte and Robin19 are the scorekeepers. Either: 1. Someone volunteers to help the two out. 2. nullbyte and Robin19 are not in the field at the same time. 3. Forget about it for one week. Would someone be willing to update the stat page and upload it to their webspace, or should wait until I get back the following Tuesday?
  16. My glove is smaller than others because I have small hands. Turns out my glove is the same size as valpocrewsader's. Is there any kind of oil or something out there one can use to rub into the leather to soften it up?
  17. Jamie: I accept your challenge! Looking forward to Thursday. On edit: I prefer not to scorekeep the innings I'm pitching (to keep my mind focused).
  18. Jamie, think 'roster' page. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Jamie, I appreciate the offer. Practicing with Houlie Saturday I was kinda sorta OK. Today I met with valpocrewsader and I struggled. Maybe my arm was a bit tired from Saturday, who knows. If you want me to start, I'll be happy to start. Just be prepared to have a short lease and don't hesitate to use it.
  20. My words were a bit confusing, my bad. Our opposition walks *us* about one time in nine, which comes out to about four per game. Since we've played a half-season, I think that's a big enough sample size for a league standard. But you're correct, Fever. A successful team needs to limit the walks to about three max.
  21. I hope everyone can stomach one more stat post. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Looking at the stat page, our opponents average about one walk every nine batters. I think that's the standard we should use in finding our next pitcher. p(walk) = p(ball)*p(2-0 count) + p(ball)*p(2-1 count) <= .11 set x = p(strike) p(walk) = (1-x)[(1-x)^2] + (1-x)*[C(3,1)*x*(1-x)^2] <= .11 solve for x, x >= 2/3 For anyone practicing, shoot for two-thirds strikes. Any fewer than that leads to too many walks which would get ugly real quick.
  22. Houlie and I hit it up this morning. We pitched to each other while my wife caught. Then we did OF practice. I'm getting a little better with the pitching, but still kinda iffy. Not as many deep balls and flat balls as Thursday. Maybe 50/50 right now. Houlie caught everything hit to him. I, on the other hand....http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif I'm using a new glove. Is it possible that I'm dropping balls because it's not broken in yet?

    Game 5 recap

Good catch, Brian. I had "FC/E6" in your box (why?). Maybe I was confusing that E with the E6 on Houlie's hit. All told, 4 errors in that inning. SS=2, 3B=1, RF=1. Ironically, all four runs were still 'earned'. On edit - additional game notes: RISP: BF = 8x15 - great job at clutch hitting! CC = 5x13 - clutch pitching, Fever holds the power hitters in check. I think this is the first game where we had more fly outs (9) than ground outs (5). I think the 16 hits were a game record. We were hitting the ball well. I mentioned before the game their 7-11 hitters went 3x15 last time. This time they went 7x13, but all 7 hits were singles, many of the seeing-eye kind. I wish we would have played deeper for their SS, he burned us for two long bombs again. Otherwise, the top of the order did minimal damage.
  24. Russ, Keep in mind this is slow-pitch softball vs. baseball. Basically we play station-to-station. I assumed everyone advances one on a single, two on a double. With two outs, the runners take the extra base. In real time I've been quite liberal in awarding "infield hits". Ground outs, I assume the throw goes to second, if applicable, else to first. Everyone else advances. Fly outs and strike outs - no advancement. I didn't simulate fielding errors nor advancing on throws. I wrote up a program in Visual Basic, stored the probabilites in Access. While I was at it, I drew up a Brewerfan.net Game Day graphic similar to MLB, that way I could watch all the valpos, Robins, razzzors streak around the bases and light up the scoreboard!

    Game 5 recap

Thanks for the kind words DJ, glad I was able to contribute. I just want to apologize to everyone for my lackluster performance last night. We won, but I kinda had an empty feeling inside while driving home. Now this morning I realized maybe next week will be my turn to pick somebody up. I made two hitting mistakes and a stupid drop. I'm going to look at it as a learning experience and make myself a better hitter. Just seems as if that pitcher has my number, struck out three times in two games, yet noone else has struck me out. If I get more practice shagging flies, I'm confident I can do OK for my self in RF.
