  1. Jamie batted lead-off for the season opener. Does he still bat lead-off? I was thinking (uh-oh), with Brewer Fever leaving us next month, we'll need a couple of people to back up Jamie when he pitches. I believe Robin and Johnson volunteered their efforts. If Thursday's game gets out of hand, which it may, should we bring one or both in to pitch an inning or two? Last week was a bit of a mess getting a lineup and substitutions finalized. I say from now on we stick with our 7:40 deadline. If you show up afterwards, your name is at the bottom of the order and you sit on the bench. I also propose we decied on 5th inning defensive switches prior to the start of the game so everyone knows what's up. Jamie, I know you get tied up with ground rules and pre-game drills. How about I handle all this? Iron Chef only played one inning in the field last week. We can't let this happen again. Here are my thoughts for Thursday's game. With the bombs these guys hit, I think AJAY and Dougjones should be in the OF the entire game. With razzzorsharp being out, start Robin at 3B and possibly switch with Brewer Fever (P) mid-game(?) Possible defensive switches: C : Brian or Iron Chef in for Radman 1B: Brian or Iron Chef in for Bball 2B: Nullbyte in for Jamie LF: Johnson in for Houlie RF: Jimbo in for Colbyjack The floor is open for discussion. On edit: I really would like to get a team photo taken before the game while there's still daylight.

  3. I could make it. All I would be looking to do is hit some fungo balls, work on judging fly balls, some infield practice. We've had enough batting practice, plus there are batting cages. The biggest room for improvement is glove work, IMO.

    Game 1 recap

The ump mistakenly called it a foul ball because he temporarily believed that it didn't matter that the ball hit the foul line, because it was on the foul side of 3rd base when it flew over it. Even the shortstop on the other was laughing himself silly over that. i hope they at least kept their own. Not sure. They only had one guy on the bench. The manager drew up the lineup on some Playskool whiteboard.

    Game 1 recap

So, apparently your opponent was the Club Carnival Dudes. I offered to exchange lineups, but they didn't keep a scorecard. I tried to go by uniform numbers, but they were only in front above the left breast and small in size. I was shielded from the right-handed batters. Couldn't pick up the OF's numbers.
  6. I arrived before the 8:00 game and had the opprotunity to scout next week's opponent, Bay Street Bar, as well as Anna's. I did a "measles chart", where I plotted the location of each ball put in play. From there, one can find patterns and align the defenders accordingly. I really want you guys to take a look and decide if it's worth going into discussion. green = grounder, purple = liner, red = fly The size of the dots are in proportion to the value of the hit, given what rluzinski posted elsewhere: 1B = 0.49 runs, 2B = 0.79 runs, 3B = 1.06 runs, HR = 1.42 runs Bay Street These guys had three lefties in the lineup, all the size of Barry Bonds. The one guy smoked two close to the tennis courts. I say all 4 OF play deep and conceed the dinks. I would also recommend putting the speedy guys in the OF to start the game. Anna's These guys pulled *every* ball. Nothing to the right side. Only five grounders. I say this team begs for the use a "rover". Their lead-off guy showed some pop, that was it. Any comments?
  7. Valpo, you did well. You're our J.J. Hardy. If you want ugly, check out my outfield assist *cough, cough*, bailed out by a heads-up play by the C, P and possible bad call by the ump. U-G-L-Y.

  9. Thanks guys. i coulda swore there was a guy on 3rd when valpo missed the popup and scored an insurance run. It's really, really sad when the team scorekeeper (moi) doesn't even know the final score. I should all updates posted by 5 pm Friday.
  10. I'm calling on some help here guys. I honestly thought Club Carnival scored twice in the top of the 8th. Am I wrong? I want to get the details as accurate as possible. Let me know where I'm wrong. Top 8th *Ground out, short to first *Single *Grounder to third, throw wide of second. Runner scores, batter to third. Batter thrown out trying to score. *Batter reaches on error?????? *Batter reaches first on shortstop losing ball in darkness, runner scores. *Pop out, third base. I was the one who retrieved the errant throw, I though the lead runner scored. Or did the only run score on the dropped pop? Was Brian or Iron catching the 7th/8th?
  11. The first pitch in franchise history. http://my.execpc.com/~silkey/brewerfan/Game060518_01.JPG
  12. Don't worry Robin, we're all getting in! And yes, just north of the corner of KK + Oklahoma. I'm going to park on a side street west of the park.
  13. Only rain on the radar is over Lake Michigan rotating to the south. Winds 15-25 mph blowing straight to left.
  14. LC goes to who wants it I guess. How about we shift Dougjones to LC, colbyjack to RC and reserve player in RF?
  15. My arm is well rested and I'm ready to go. I would assume the same is true for our closer. Hope we don't have to pull him in the seventh with men on. ---------- With any luck, the weather will hold up.. looks like we have a pretty good chance of actually playing tonight. I'm pumped! I was pumped last week, only to be letdown. When we get the 'GO', then I'll be ready. The dewpoint dropped ten degrees since yesterday morning, so the air is drying out. If it rains, should be short and light.
  16. Just put me at the bottom of the batting order. Once again, Jamie's call. I would guess you'd be in the orginal spot for continuity purposes, plus with AJAY out we need your power.
  17. Jamie will have to make the call on 1B and LC.

  19. No rehab (hopefully), but at this rate I should be down to about 180 pounds by next weeks game, making me much faster than previously exhibited. Only problem with losing 15 pounds so quickly is you've surely lost some muscle mass. Hopefully, you'll still have power along with your new found speed! On edit: I suppose a rehab assignment would consist of playing for the milwaukeebrewers.com message board team.
  20. Will this require a rehab assignment?
  21. Brewerfan.net Addicts I think that would only apply if brewerfan.net was a porn site. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. You're not being a wuss, it is incredibly nasty outside. If tonight's game is still on I will be incredibly surprised. Aw c'mon guys, I've ran in marathons with worse conditions worse than today. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Think to yourself "it's a great day for softball". I'm mentally and physically prepared to play, and will be disappointed if we don't.
  23. In this morning's paper no scores reported in from Sijan for last night. Doesn't look good for tonight.
  24. At 213 we all need to practice going opposite field. Kidding aside, keep in mind the fence occupies 9 degrees of the 90 degree span of the field. Trying to hit the fence risks hitting a foul.
  25. 213 can't be right, is it? Most GPS systems are off by at least 30 feet. (national security or something like that.) It's true about the national security thing, but I think the built-in fudge factor is more like 15 feet. FWIW, I had first base at 58 feet and third base at 60 feet. Second base was IIRC 90 feet (should be 84).
