  1. Never thought this day would come, but happy that it has. I will be rooting for a ... cubs ... victory ... for the next four days. Although this day also signifies that the Brewers are close to the playoffs with a week to play.
  2. What I love is on Saturday when Fox pointed out that the Brewers haven't made the playoffs in 26 years, and the next closest team in any of the four major sports is the Arizona Cardinals at 9. What a pathetic franchise. I'm starting to entertain thoughts of contracting the Brewers. This is the time of the year for me to turn my attention to the Cowboys.

  4. Why is everyone so mean? There is plenty of time left in the season and it's too early to worry about scoreboard watching or winning games. We need Cam and Kendall to feel good about themselves in October. There's no need to worry about getting to October in the first place. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  5. I personally saw Mark A walking the concourse on Thursday. He was on the way to his seat with a security guard escort.
  6. How come a franchise like the Rays can garner no attention from the hometown fans and yet find a way to best both the Yankees and the Red Sox, and we're stuck with this heaping pile of donkey doo?
  7. I don't like him straying from the bag with a runner on first. He starts walking off the bag and jumps back when he identifies that it will be a pickoff throw. This gives the runner an advantage to getting back.
  8. There's only one solution. On the 10th against the Reds, CC should strike out all 27 hitters. (I picked the 10th because that is the next CC game I will attend. If he wants to get selfish he can wait to do it against the Cubs.
  9. Totally Yost's fault. He should have known we would score 7 in the 9th and not worried about using the bullpen.
  10. Quick question. My brother is going over to his SO's house, who has ATT satellite. Any clue as to what channel number the game will be on?
  11. You can teach a 5' white guy how to slam dunk, but put him in the game and he can't do it. Prince just isn't a good defender, no matter how much work the coaches or Prince himself puts into it. Which makes you cringe at the thought of what he would look like if they didn't work on defense with him.
  12. They aren't the people I have a problem with. I have a problem with the group of 22 yo's. Twice every half inning one is getting up to go to the rest room or visit the concession stand. I don't understand why their $7 beer can't wait two more batters.
  13. My section (104) still has the cranky old guy usher. He's the gatekeeper for the Mercedes-Benz Fieldhouse. He's actually kind of nice if you are someone who follows rules. He just has that angry look to him. I see him smile when he gets a chance to pop beach balls with his pen. He only takes them away because that's his job, and he loves the reaction he gets when he holds the ball up and pops it. There is a reason they don't give away free cups. That is how they handle inventory. If there is a cup missing and no corosponding sale, they are charged with giving away free soda and have to pay for the "missing soda". But I believe a lot of them now have small water/ice cups they will give away. You are allowed to make a mess, but only at your own seat. Don't stand in a public spot and spit all over, do it at your seat or have a container. The usher that asked about the sunflower seeds into the bullpen probably didn't see it before. He's supposed to prevent anything flying into the bullpen, saw you spit, and asked you to stop. They don't ask the people in the bullpen if it's bothering them. I pull the season ticket rank when in the parking lot. I can't stand the parking attendants and their (often) dumb decisions in the Mets lot.
  14. I hope the playoff spots are clinched well before that last series. I don't need the heart trouble of knowing we have to face the Cubs, and more specifically the horrible fans they bring with them, in order to make the playoffs.
  15. I started messing with the numbers of Hitter A and Hitter B. I let both hitters have the same amount of HRs over 600 PA (since HR are the best possible outcome). The difference in the numbers will be Hitter B having 111 less singles, but 74 more BBs and 37 more 2Bs. So 1/3 of those missing singles turn into doubles. I don't have enough time at work to run the numbers of this result, but my eyeball doesn't think there would be a drastic difference in the overall effect of these two hitters in the lineup. The amount of times the BB fails to score a runner is offset by the increased offense of the double. If a Hitter uses the better BA to increase performance over another player, it will show up in the SLG stat. Here are the numbers I came up with: PA outs 1B 2B HR BB BA OBP SLG Hitter A 600 360 151 23 20 46 .350 .400 .500 Hitter B 600 360 40 60 20 120 .250 .400 .500 I think we keep Weeks. He is still young in baseball terms, shows flashes of greatness, and still projects to be very good. It's true that he's been in the Majors for a while. But if the Brewers hadn't been bad for that long of a period and needed to call guys up, this would probably be RW's first or second year in the league. He's still several years away from Ryan Howard's rookie year age. And do you remember how bad Hall was the first couple of years when he was brought up too early?
  16. Turning the Brewers into a perenial contenter (which he would do by locking up CC and Braun to long term contracts) will increase the money the Brewers will bring in. I could see Mark investing more money in the team.
  17. IIRC, Mark A didn't like the look of the manual scoreboard. He wanted to get rid of them for that reason. The digital scoreboard was put up as a replacement. I have to wonder about the UWM ads. There are a lot of cross promotions going on with them. UWM has a homecoming game at The Keg, UWM usually plays the 2nd game of a double header at The Keg once a year, and they started the baseball class. I wonder if that is a "free" ad because of 1) community consciousness 2) UWM would just about sell out the place on their homecoming game.
  18. I actually like that play on words. Citgo-- C-it-go -- See it go. [political]Although I would never get gas from them, even though their station is one block down from my house[/political] And iirc, Yahoo/SBC/ATT park has a Citgo gas pump to count homeruns also. I think Ricoh should get a refund for sponsoring the so called defense the last couple of years. Also, the team doesn't get all of this money. I believe they only get the ad money from the things sold at the park. Aflak, Ricoh, Usingers, Hardware Hank, etc go to the media outlets that broadcast the game. So FSN-WI is getting richer while still paying below market value for the games.
  19. Brewers start their slide Billingley strikes out fifteen Dodgers win all three
  20. In 94 the players went on strike, and people blame Bud for that. What would have happened if Bud had locked them out?
  21. 1. I think Contraction was a giant bluff. Both cities needed a new stadium, and the union was balking at the salary tax. Contraction talk didn't get the stadiums built (one team had to be moved and the Twins are building a new one now), but the union finally conceded something. 2. The Expo saga wasn't the best, but how was he supposed to handle it? It was clear they needed to leave Montreal, but moving them to a city without a stadium garantee would have just left the franchise in the same hole. 3. Brewers of the 90's. First, the team went downhill when he gave the team to Wendy. Second, I have a conspiracy theory. What if Bud realized in the early 90's that he wanted to sell the team. The last thing he would want is for a new owner to buy the team and promptly move it (re Braves). So he held ownership until a new stadium could be built and a hefty profit margin could be made. Since the team was horrid right after The Keg openned, he slashed payroll and built up a stock of young players. Then he could sell it to anyone knowing they'd be crazy to try to move the team at that point. 4. Steroids: enough blame to go to everyone. I didn't hear too many media member raising a big stink during that time either. 5. WS Home field advantage: Granting it to the league that wins the ASG isn't the best way to decide it, but it's no worse than the way it used to be decided. 6. Bluring the league lines: Before Selig MLB operated like two different entities, NL and AL. Except for the DH, he's pretty much erased any difference between the leagues. I think this benefits baseball since both leagues now work together to push the same direction.
  22. For me, the goal is World Series. However, making the playoffs is a step to getting to the World Series. If you fail in the first step, you'll never make it to the top of the stairs. I'd peg both Aces to get as many starts as they can. When (not if http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ) a playoff spot is locked up, you can restructure your rotation for the postseason. We can use September call ups as fill in starters to set our rotation. After a spot is locked up, those regular season games don't mean so much.
  23. The Brewers got the sweep because StL had no relief pitching.
  24. As a full season ticket holder, I was given the option of purchasing my seat plus an extra seat in the Terrace Reserved section. I only own one seat, but my mom owns the seat next to mine. We were able to get our "extra" TR seats next to each other. I have the tickets at home (I opted to have them mailed back to me after the mix up last year), so I don't remember the details but do know we had an extra pair to "give to friends".
