  1. Yes, there are a lot more basketball teams than baseball teams at the Hyatt. But I know some teams do stay here. Ray King always stops into my shop when he's in town (he's got huge hands). A coworker once went to go use the facilities in the Hyatt (which is where we have to go). He was doing his business, turned to his right, and realized the guy next to him was future HOFer Greg Maddux. He played all cool and just gave him a head nod and said, "Hey Greg". Or at least, that's what he gloated to me.
  2. I work next to the Hyatt downtown. Several teams use their facilities when coming to play. The "unwritten rule" is that inside the hotel is basically their house for the trip. That is the one place they can go to get away from fans and autograph seekers. You can talk to them and engage in conversation like anyone else, they just don't want to be asked for an autograph every ten steps. They know that once they step outside the hotel building, they will be asked constantly for autographs. The Brewers are probably not used to be asked for autographs on the road and may not care about the rule. An older veteran player may understand the rule and be upset when it is broken. Don't feel bad about "breaking" this rule. The only people that really know it are the players, the hotel staff, and the professional autograph seekers. Cameron was probably having a bad day and was expecting to relax while still inside the hotel.
  3. I've taken a VB.net class and I'm currently in a database design class where we'll touch on SQL. Most of my computer experience has been private stuff for friends, off the record work stuff, or me just messing around on my own time. Stuff that doesn't show up very well on a resume.
  4. ((unless I'm off my mark with Joe, this entire thread is supposed to be a big blue poke in the eye to the who replaces Prince at frist thread))
  5. As an FYI, the right side of the out of town scoreboard has the batter's picture along with some stats. Sometimes it has those career stats in such and such a count. The ribbon board has the wrong count on it a lot also. I assumed it was a case of the person running the graphics putting more time into other things (including stuff to put up next) that leads to errors. I'd think the same is the case for the broadcast. The person putting the count up probably has 15 other things to do at the same time and occationaly makes mistakes.
  6. He's hitting too many extra base hits. He should be going for more singles so he has a chance to steal 2nd.
  7. I'll take my 8yo or 15yo sister to a game and they have to hear names of male body parts constantly being shouted by the crowd. And a bunch of words that would never pass this cuss filter. Their response is that they have the "right" to say those things and I shouldn't have a kid there. I've also twice seen drunks intentionally pick fights at The Keg just this year. And the fights were only Brewer fans, not hazing another team. With success, you are seeing a lot more of these drunken louts at our games.
  8. Milwaukee lost the Braves, does that mean Milwaukee fans don't care about baseball? Or that an owner just wanted more money and moved the team? IIRC, that was the same situation with the North Stars.
  9. Probably about as lame as blaming a goat or a dead home run hitter for your franchise WHOAS. Sports fans like to link events that have nothing to do with each other.
  10. Great avatar PrimeTime Laporta or Branyan.
  11. My first question is whether you have any tips for finding a job. I'm seeing a lot of 2-5 years experience. I don't have a technical degree yet (I do have a BA in Music), but I need to leave my current position and would like to sign an entry level job that could eventually lead to a programming position.
  12. I'm about a year away from getting my AS in Software Application Programming. I was checking to see if anyone here has a similar degree and can give answers I may have.
  13. My problem is that the only time I want to follow the game via computer, I'm at work or school. Neither of which keeps up with the latest and greatest technology.
  14. I've camped at Bong park before. I can't describe the general facillities because whenever I went camping I "roughed" it sans electricity or running water. And Bong is not very far away if you live on the south side of Milwaukee county.
  15. I agree with Ned on his quote. The manager shouldn't care whether a run is earned or unearned. His primary concern should be how many runs the other team scores compared to how many the Brewers scored. I think people would be upset if we lose 7-6 and Ned says, "That's ok because two of those runs were unearned." I'd much rather have the manager judge his pitchers on the quality of pitches one makes rather than the defense and luck behind him. And Mota still gave up a HR after the error.
  16. There might be a discount for that date, but I think there is the box for the coupon code for every game you order. I don't think the presence of the box signifies that there is a discount. It's easier to code the box to always be there and for the program to only check for a discount if there is something typed into the box.
  17. If you mouse over the related videos at the end on the bottom, the second one says Gatorade commercial.
  18. MLB.com Sortable Team Stats: Defensive Stats: Sorted by DP The Brewers are 9th in the majors and 3rd in the NL in turning the DP. But the Pirates are 4/1, so I don't know if turning DPs are a good stat for doing well. A good team wouldn't let the runners on in the first place.
  19. I would put Sheets as #1 and Corey as a very close #2.
  20. I should call Doug Melvin and claim I'm Barry Bonds and would play for only $1M, up front, in cash.
  21. I say, since they are in the central, both should be given 10 year contract extentions. :D
  22. Corey probably didn't sign because he knew he wouldn't be in a platoon this year. Playing the entire year will probably drive up his value before he signs the long term contract. If this was the thinking then Hart and his agent are very shrewd, which is to be expected.
  23. "...hope you weren't eating, listening to that." She only changed keys 3 times, and was singing the words to the National Anthem to a different tune. What's the problem?
  24. A four game sweep? Even if they stink and we are at home they should win at least one of them. If the Padres only have a 20% chance of winning a game, math says they have an 80% chance of winning one of those games, and a 40% chance of winning 2. (I think I did the 2nd one correctly, but I know the first one is right)
  25. I like how we're behind the Cards in the standings but still have a better "chance" of making the post season.
