  1. Sheets stats vs Peavy ERA, walks, and strikeouts Very similar Sheets with best record What makes Ben so much better? Knows "how to win games" Both pitchers are good Playing in a pitchers park Expect many runs
  2. Showed project in class Will rush home to see CC Watch the Brewers win Interview called back They don't want to hire me Please stop my sad day
  3. Number of professional sports sideline reporter gigs in Milwaukee: 1 or 2 (I don't follow basketball enough to know if they have one). I can see where Trenni didn't think she would ever be back in Milwaukee.
  4. If a football slips while the quarterback is throwing it and it misses it's mark by two feet, there is no increase in the chance of injury. I believe they did away with erasing a game before 5 innings. IIRC, they changed the rule last year so that if a game is PPD before the 5th inning, the game is picked up where it left off.
  5. You pass everyone through waivers to hide which ones you are looking to deal. If you only tried to pass one or two through, everyone would know who you're trying to get rid of. If everyone except the one star player you aren't giving away for a few years (Sheets circa 2005 or Braun circa 2008) nobody knows who you're actively shopping. Also, you may not want to trade the player now but may want to get rid of him because of something that happens in August (ala Barrett/Cubs). It's keeping your options open. That's why a lot of them go unclaimed, GMs know you'll just pull them back if they are claimed. Claiming them will only case the GM to become mad at you, which isn't good for future trades.
  6. I think Menotti80 should spend the rest of the game watching Matty V on NBC http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. I don't think Braun would be put on waivers. I can't think of a single trade that the Brewers would entertain for Braun. The Tigers might trade Sheffield if the right offer comes around. I remember two or three years ago when Melvin put everyone but Sheets on the waiver wire.
  8. I wonder if Arizona was Plan C. Maybe another team in contention (Yankees, Rays, Cubs) were interested in Dunn. Arizona is the team that claims him. Since Cinncy really wants out of the contract they decide to trade Dunn to Az.
  9. The Cubs are delayed from rain Reds/Pirates with nothing to gain Cards try to fish Beat Marlins to dish Ortiz gives Texas some pain
  10. Brewers on west coast The offense might not produce Soup needs to pitch well This game starts too late I need sleep to work at 8 But I choose baseball Get to see Cubs lose They will finish before 9 But Georgia has rain
  11. The 'Stros didn't have a problem with Soup's pitches on a Sunday day game.
  12. Kendall does not play Neither does the All-Star Braun Brewers still win big Hawing adds her own But I post before I go The Haikus makes wins
  13. This game will be won Ned has put Counsell on bench Muscle is released It is a bit soon Our number is forty-four Playoffs are soon here
  14. They are on a roll My Haikus have won both times So I'll keep at it We'll get two earned runs The Brewers will still win big Ten will be unearned
  15. My Haiku was wrong Please repeat yesterday's game The Brewers won big Offense has come back Let's win in "The Queen City" Make Home say "D'oh"
  16. Dave Bush will not win Brewers are slumping badly Robin 19 sad
  17. The other thing to remember is how much different playing 2B is from SS. On a ball hit to SS's right, he's running at an angle away from 1st. A 2B is running directly away from the bag. On a DP ball the SS only takes throws coming from the direction of 1B and has to throw it back in the same direction. A 2B must take a ball and throw it at a 90 degree angle or more different direction from the catch. There may be a couple of bad plays if you take a career SS and put him at 2B. I don't have a good answer to solve our infield situation. But I am very happy that we're looking at the team and realizing there aren't enough lineup spots for good players on our team.
  18. They might be the same people (re: Yost) that said last year at this time, "but we're still in first so there's no need to worry" when it was obvious to everyone that the ship was sinking. I don't really blame Yost for this series, even though I don't like him and think he needs to go. When Doug puts together a team that will win games by scoring tons of runs, and that team decides to stop hitting for a week, wins will not come. We knew we had a mediocre pitching staff, but belive our hitting would carry us. The problem is that we have no OBP so we're still a team that will hit a lot of solo HRs.
  19. Hmm, the no contact Brewers offense going against Harden, while one of the best hitting teams in the NL going against Bush. I guess we got to dream about the post season for a good week this summer.
  20. I had requested off for every home game back in March when I got my tickets. This week is the busiest week of the year for my business and I was told last Friday that I could not get off for the Thursday day game. So I sold my pair of $12 tickets on the internet for $90 each. Blacking out the game would not have changed my situation. Should I have just eaten the tickets even though I probably could have gotten even more than that? If anything, blacking out the game would drive ticket prices up since it would not be possible to see it on TV. Higher ticket prices would mean even more people would sell. The good news is that I shipped the tickets to East Troy, so they are hopefully Brewer fans.
  21. Did some number crunching on adding 10 wins. That would be a WARP of .062 per game. We've played 100 games. So Weeks would have a WARP 6.2 higher than what it is now (2.7). That would mean he would have a WARP of 9.8 right now. That's MVP numbers to reach that in 162 games, let alone in only 100. I think that shows how unrealistic it is for one player to cause a 10 game swing in the nubmers. Looking at it in that light, CC only adding 2 wins seems really accurate.
  22. Any time I hear about a Cubs pitcher going on the DL I think of this article. And to put a sour note on all of this injury talk, I'm sure they are just waiting for one of our pitchers to take his annual sabatical to the DL.
  23. I'll go out on a limb and say the Brewers get nobody for their bullpen.
  24. With Kapler, we have the ability to back up all of the outfield spots. Branyan may also cover a corner outfield but he is also the 3B and back up 1B. Counsell is the back up SS and 2B. Counsell is also one of the first off the bench. Of those 3, Counsell would be at the bottom of my list. Dillon didn't have much to back up anymore and being a RH bat wasn't a good option to pitch hit. We moved him out and got someone to back up 2B who hits LH. And when a team tries to use a LHP against our back up 2B (like I've seen done to Counsell), Ray-Ray switches over to become a RH bat. Besides the money (which is for half a year so only Mark and the investors should be worried about it), this deal is a good move. There is a worry because he's 36. But just like CC and his heavy work load, we only need Ray-Ray to last until November.
