  1. Frankly if I'm Melvin and a California banker starts deciding he wants to fire the manager with TWELVE games left I'd think about walking. "You can't fire me cause I quit"..... And Melvin would have no problem finding another GM gig, sooner or later. I hope this isn't a sign of future George S. type tendencies from Mark A. Final word to Mark A., "The best executive is one who has sense enough to pick good people to do what he wants them to do, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it" Theodore Roosevelt
  2. Really? Wow. I think Yost was gone any which way so with as bad as we have been for two weeks I don't mind this move it might work, it might not either way we were not doing anything.I could maybe see this move if we had a legit candidate waiting in the wings. Instead we're putting a first time manager in the driver's seat for our first playoff run in a quarter century. The logic just isn't there and I'll guarantee this gem wasn't a Melvin idea.
  3. I'll think this was a dumb move even if we win the World Series.
  4. I'm sorry but what a idiotic move. This reeks of Attanasio sticking his nose into baseball operations and calling this shot. I know it's his right blah, blah, blah....but I sure as heck don't want a California investment banker who probably never made it past Little League calling the baseball shots. I'm not a Yost fan or hater but to pull any manager who worked to get 16 games over and tied for the Wild Card lead for fricking Dale Svuem with TWELVE games left looks desperate and stupid. Unless Svuem gets the fairy dust out and puts a spell on Prince, Rickie, etc.'s bat fans are going to be dissapointed. This clearly was not a Melvin move cause he's not that naive. Sad thing is if by chance this works, I see Attanasio calling many more baseball shots which will be bad for us in the long run. edit: fontodelics
  5. You can probably add Torres to that list pretty soon. That's pretty much the whole bullpen Melvin gave him. Or is Stetter going to be our new closer until he sucks it up too? How anyone can blame Ned for using what Melvin has given him is beyond me. Who does Melvin want Ned to throw in there in a "pressurized" situation?
  6. Pads fans were rejoicing when they got rid of Linebrink. Hopefully he would have gone after someone more productive instead of a guy with peripherals on the decline.
  7. Brewers should give him the Gilbert Brown treatment and send him to Duke University for an all rice diet. Think he'll go for that?
  8. I wasn't thrilled with the bullpen configuration in the spring and I still don't get what Melvin was expecting. Improvement was shaky at best over a Cordero led pen when you sign a couple guys coming off disaster years and a reliever thinking about retirement. Also if this is our "all in" year Melvin could have scoured the league for a reliever producing in '08 among the bottom teams in July. Depending on the talent level I wouldn't have minded giving up a high to mid level prospect(s) for help at a run this year.
  9. Which makes it amazing to me that TH and Ned Yost don't get along. If anyone knows what Yost feels like it's probably TH, yet he attacked Yost like nobody's business. I guess you could call this whole blowup, poetic justice.
  10. I could have swore I saw Lindsay Lohan hunkered in the corner snorting coke out of her hand.
  11. Tom H needs to give Ari Fleischer a honk. Damage control time.
  12. Tom H would better serve himself and his paper to ban himself from blogging. Some guys just aren't good "off the cuff" communicators and I think Haudricourt falls in this category as he takes himself way too seriously and has paper thin skin. I have also soured on Haudricourt after his mid season attacks on our manager and team, he really needs to regain his composure. I also am not too thrilled with the Witrado kid taking over as he seems sub par. I'm the last person to rag on a man just trying to start his career and I'll still give him more time to grow in the job but the early returns aren't good.
  13. I don't think that many people adore Prince Fielder right now. A year ago maybe but I think he's lost some fans over contract (or lack there of) activities and more recently his on and off the field behavior and quotes. It may get worse going forward, hopefully not. **Although if the criteria is just being known then he's definitely up there.
  14. Isn't Parra older than Prince and been in the Brewer system longer? It became apparent yesterday Parra knows much more on how to conduct himself like a Brewer than Prince.
  15. Prince didn't stay too long with the humble "ah shucks" routine he had going when he came up. There's been warning signs for awhile now regarding Prince's behavior. We all look aside when he produces, that's our fickleness but hopefully his behavior gets better as he matures as a person. Except I have a gut feeling that won't be until well after he's left Milwaukee.
  16. Last rant for the night: For the love of God, get bullpen help. Your bullpen sucks Melvin.
  17. It's the wrist though. If Rickie wasn't a high pick he would have been demoted to AAA 3 months ago. Time for him to master the fundamentals in AAA and earn his way back on the big league club.
  18. It's Bananas for Yost to get blame because he doesn't yank our highest paid player in the 5th. Soon people will start complaining about bullpen overuse. The only thing I can get on Yost for is not making Suppan go out there until at least the 7th no matter if it becomes 20-5 Astros. Suppan eventually needs to earn the ungodly amount of money Melvin handed him. And if Soup continually needs to be bailed out then obviously our GM shouldn't have put him on the roster.
  19. I'm sure this has been touched upon in the vent thread but I applaud Yost for not bailing out Suppan yet again and destroying our bullpen for a week or so. It's getting down to sink or swing time and we're paying Suppan big cash, he should not need to be bailed out every start. He's pitching like a bum's Greg Maddux right now and starting to look like a black mark on Melvin's record. Pitching will be our downfall this year if we don't make some improvements.
  20. Cool thing to do, shows team camaraderie. Could have picked better timing when the daughter wasn't on his lap but it was all in good intent.
  21. If you can get a Volquez type with huge upside for Hardy this off season then you have to make the move, imo. Although if Hardy keeps improving this year or maintains I'd rather try and move Escobar and maybe Hall for pitching.
