  2. If they end up tied, the teams split the lottery balls (224 each) with the additional one being determined by a coin flip. The problem is, if you lose that coin flip, you also end up with the 12% chance of getting the 5th pick.
  3. So, they bought out 2 years of FA, and he was making 1 million this season. Going with the 40/60/80 Arby guidelines, 143/3.8 is about ~37.6 million per year. Yikes.
  4. When there's no tests for the drugs most players are using, adding stronger penalty for the dumb ones who get caught is just silly.
  5. I don't think Gomez duplicates his 2013. I don't think he OBP's above league average. I hope I eat crow, but he didn't change his approach much last year. It's not like his BB% had a big jump, what spiked was his LD%, and maybe he sustains that, and I hope he does, I just doubt it.
  6. The rock is part of the aesthetics. Makes the whole room come together.
  7. Overbay, of course. He's our "Mark Kotsay type" this year. Kidding. I'd imagine it would be Bianchi, as he played out there last year (it was only 5 innings, but he did play out there)
  8. Yes, it failed miserably because putting a high SLG, Low OBP hitter at the top of the lineup is a bad idea. You want that guy hitting with men on base, not setting the table for your best hitters (because he doesn't set any sort of table). You want to put him 5th or 6th in the lineup. My prediction: If Gomez hits leadoff all season, he will lead the league in outs.

  10. If you don't want your kid to play with an old broken down toy, you don't give it to him. Overbay will be Roenicke's old broken down toy this year.
  11. Typical short sighted Roenicke move. Put a low OBP guy hitting leadoff, because he's fast. Instead of moving everyone up in the lineup to give our best hitters more PAs, just put a worse hitter in front of all of them. Didn't we already try this with Gomez hitting 2nd in 2012, where it failed miserably?
  12. 1) Smith put up better numbers as a 23 year old in AAA then Wily did. 3.03 ERA, 10.1 K/9 and 4.2 K/BB compared to 4.33 ERA, 8.8 BB/9 and 1.8 K/BB. 2) Smith does not have problems with walking everyone.
  13. There will always be guys who get hurt and guys who don't. It's part of the human body. Saying "Why can't guys be like the single most durable pitcher in history" is no different then saying, "Why can't everyone hit like Ted Williams?"
  14. Smart is small for a 2, so he is a guy without a position and he is a shooting guard who can't shoot. He shot under 40% in Big12 play this season. 28% from 3. Against even bigger, faster and better competition I don't think he'll be able to bull his way to the hoop and get foul calls like he does in college. I think that whomever is left amongst Exum, Embiid, Parker or Wiggins is clearly a step above Smart, and I'd argue Julius Randle is a step above him as well. As for a Lakers trade, since they've already traded their 2015 and 2017 first rounders (2015 with protection, so both picks could be bumped back by YEARS), the first first round pick they could trade is 2019 -- with the same protection.
  15. Because his .320 OBP when he hits .220 will be higher than Overbay's .300 OBP when he hits .250.
  16. I really love bringing up Hank the Dog in front of people that are sick of hearing about Hank the Dog.
  17. Ian Eagle, calling a game for the Eagles.... can you say bias?

  19. when the Knicks got Ewing in a lottery that was obviously rigged, did NY at the time at least have a good possibility of landing the top pick, or was it more like when Orlando landed the #1 pick for the second year in a row to nab Chris Webber? It was a 1 in 7 chance for everyone. They literally put the envelopes in a drum and rotated it....
  20. I will be there, in line by 8, and near the front of the Bluemound lot. Good times will be had, for sure.
  21. http://mlblogsbrewersbeat.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/ben-sheets.jpg One of my all time favorite Brewers. Will never forget the scream he let out after beating Peavy, 1-0, Sept 6th, 2008.
  22. Agree completely. Sadly, Smith won't get a chance until someone gets hurt.... and even then he may not.
  23. I was at the Brewers game that day, in the 400 level concourse when a gentleman ran screaming past me, yelling "WES HELMS. I LOVE WES HELMS HE BLEEPING DID IT!"
  24. Red Rock's on Water st has some solid wings. Brewski's on 76th and Bluemound also has some darn good wings. Quaker Steak and Lube blows BW3 out of the water for my money for a chain place to watch a game at, and their wings are large, and delicious, instead of tiny and mediocre.
  25. The difference between #4, and one more back injury will be a lot more than 3.8M, though. I think he has to come out now.
