  1. If Ishikawa steals ABs or starts from Aoki it will be a crime. If he gets anywhere near the 255 PA's Mark Kotsay got or the 50 games Kotsay started it will be criminal.
  2. Because, as was shown last year, RRR picks "His guy" in spring training and doesn't change from that. The fact that Kotsay was getting ABs and starts in CF over Morgan proved that last season. The fact that Kotsay started in the freaking playoffs proves that. The idea that an inferior hitter (and defender) in Ishikawa may very well get PAs and starts over Aoki is a horrible thing. The fact that it all but eliminates giving Weeks or Ramirez an early rest in a blowout is a bad thing. The fact that that it kills double switching in a blowout is a bad thing.
  3. For a few years I used Rotorooter Magruder
  4. I just wanted to quote this, as I heard the news on the radio and just got home and was about to post the same thing. There was 0 reason to do this. Giving Izturis that many ABs this season would be criminal, and will cost the Brewers games.
  5. Yeah, I figure this move means we get to see about 5x more Cesar Izturis. Just what we always wanted! Is it too late to sign Counsell?
  6. Zack Greinke is gonna win the Cy Young. I barely have any doubt about this.
  7. I hardly watched any of the women's final four aside from a glance or two at the bar tonight, but holy cow that court looked awesome.
  8. Last year they had Mark Kotsay, Danny Almonte, Wil Nieves, Craig Counsell and Brandon Boggs on the opening day roster. I like Aoki, Conrad and Kottaras off the bench a lot more than any of those guys.
  9. The 7 foot stiff from Illinois is going pro. I've never watched a guy that big who could move as well as he could in spurts just not care on the court the way he did.
  10. You forgot these two: http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0gV15444jOeNO/x350.jpg
  11. Votto's deal was justifiable. He's been 1B to Pujols the last 3 years. Soriano, on the otherhand, was a guy with a career .320 OBP who had a monster year in a contract year. They may regret it, but they won't regret it nearly as much as the Phillies will regret Ryan Howard.
  12. It is not a "one and done" type of show. You really cannot take any episode as a stand alone viewing and expect to be moved by what someone is doing. It is a slow build, within both interpersonal relationships, delved deep into the psyche and also the culture of the US of A during the 60's. Since I didn't live during that type period, I find it a sort of fascinating look back at how that culture may have been (through rose colored glasses, of course). Oh, and also, Scotch. You're probably missing Scotch.
  13. The reason to have him is for late inning double switches, and as a guy, just in case Gonzalez needs a day off. I was a bit shocked Maysonet did not get the job, but I think they sort of figured having 2 backup SS's was better than having one.
  14. All that really matters is TV money, and we all know the Brewers are dead last in that sense. I'd imagine the Reds grew a pretty loyal fanbase in the 70's with the Big Red Machine. Also, looks like their MSA is 40% bigger. Wow. Why can't they sell tickets?
  15. I would've taken him over the other two 200M contracts signed this off season.
  16. Our manager, last year, for 38 games, decided it was a good idea to put the worst hitter on the team hitting second. 1/4th of the season, he had the worst hitter on the team hitting second. Would you have felt the same if it had been YUNIB hitting second instead of Gomez? Because that would've been about the same thing. According to McCalvy, it seems like he'll be doing the same idiocy again this year.
  17. The billionaire owner in Detroit could also do the same thing.
  18. Every time one of those articles gets printed, it makes me think they aren't talking to Zack about an extension.
  19. 96 wins proves that wrong. A team doesn't get to "96" wins with poor decision making. I will admit that Roenicke is new to managing a ball club, because he is, but despite that he did an average to above average job last season and 96 wins backs that up. There is more evidence at this point to extend him rather than fire him. I agree with you on the second statement of yours. Overwhelming talent can overcome a lot of bad decision making. No matter how many good decisions the Astro's manager made last year, they wouldn't have won 96 games.
  20. Aoki Adokie Make It So, Tony Plush Randy like the Wolf
  21. I always pictured him more as General Disarray http://southparkstudios-intl.mtvnimages.com/shared/sps/media/images/606/606_image_05.jpg?width=600
  22. I think it's refreshing for an athlete to be honest and open. I don't consider this trashing the organization (and really, I can't blame him for saying what he said). He said he knows it's a business, and as employees of the team, it was their job to get him on the court. It was obvious to anyone who watched him last year that he wasn't right, yet the team made him play the full season with one arm, in order to try to make the 8th seed in the playoffs (again...). Then he comes back this year, barely done with rehab from the surgery he knew he'd need 1/3rd of the way through the season before -- because the team rushed him back to make him play. Comparing that to a guy who both trashed the city of Milwaukee and admitted to deliberately tanking in games to get himself traded.... well... to each their own, I guess.
  23. He's done it a bunch in spring training so far.
  24. You forgot, Mark Kotsay, CF. I am very worried that he's going to play Morgan or Aoki in CF with Gomez in RF this year.
