  1. I don't like putting Pedro up there. He never had a downside to his career. He threw 300 innings after his age 33 season, while Maddux (for example) threw 1900! I don't like rewarding a guy's greatness because he couldn't stay healthy to play longer.
  2. He was, when Hawkins came off the DL and we finally went with fewer than 3 catchers on the roster.
  3. Powell is one of the best in the league. Period. That's like saying, "What's so great about Yovani and Greinke? Halladay >>> both of them."
  4. He also had 4 WAR last year. He is really, really good. And, you can say Gomez has changed his approach, but he's walked ONCE this year. He still has no idea what pitch is coming and is swinging hoping to make contact.
  5. He got a few scattered claps, pretty disappointing, actually. I stood up for his first PA.
  6. YEAH! A win now trade by a GM trying to save his job that hurts the future of the franchise, and they aren't even going to make it into the playoffs. GO BUCKS! What a dreadful team.
  7. There were many people (myself included) who thought he might have a shot of playing CF from time to time when he was first called up. A play in the gap in Houston comes to mind. One of the best catches I've ever seen. I still think he's better than Braun out there, which means our OF as a whole is pretty darn good all things considered.
  8. my gameday is like 3 batters behind the audio, so painful.
  9. Yep, saw that right after I posted. For some reason I thought it was 7 days, although that's apparently for concussions.
  10. How do you send a guy back down to the minors before his replacement gets to Milwaukee? I'm sorry, but that's just.... stupid.
  11. The percentage of white players is almost exactly the same as it was 15 years ago. Kid's, overwhelmingly have more choices these days (and are sometimes even restricted in those choices --- pick one sport and play it year round) so there will probably be fewer baseball players as a whole as compared to 20 years ago. I think the problem is an economics issue and a space issue as much as anything. I want the game to be enjoyed by everyone. Have you been to Miller Park? You can count on one hand the number of African Americans you'll see at a game most times. I think that's a shame that kids are not being exposed to the game, in school, on the playground, in the backyard, or at a pro-game.
  12. The Dodgers turned a triple play. Are you kidding me?
  13. It's an issue because the sport has sort of become self-segregated in the US. Inner city/poor kids no longer play baseball growing up, and it's been that way for about 20 years now. You get the best players by having everyone playing the game from a young age. If this trend continues it (fewer and fewer players playing the game) it will hurt the game as a whole.
  14. I have 6 different USB connectors for my tablet, phone, mp3 player, video camera, and digital camera. Are you freaking kidding me? Oh, also, each one of them has its own unique way to be charged. Most of which don't involve the USB cable.
  15. Veras is the guy that replaced Hawkins and Saito -- they only pitched 82 games last year combined. Dillard and Parra are replacing the likes of Mitre, Braddock, Sean Greene, and Dillard himself. As for Morgan, his BABIP is .222 right now. There's no way it stays that low, his career babip is .340. He'll be fine. I'm more worried about Ramirez who looks like he can't get around on a fastball right now. I wish they would've signed Hairston, but he signed really early, and obviously wanted to play on the West Coast. He probably could've nearly doubled his money had he waited a month to sign.
  16. I really don't think they had the extra millions. They added 15 extra millions for Ramirez and K-Rod.
  17. I would've rather seen Nyjer there. Less chance of a DP and less K/PA.
  18. I assume that should read Nyjer Morgan, not Nyjer Gomez?
  19. It was the bottom of the 8th with the best closer in the league last year warming up. If they score, it's 98% chance of it being ball game. You've got to try to cut the run down at the plate there.
  20. The crazy thing is that the 'Chop is all Dieon Sanders' fault. It was never around until some FSU fans brought it to Braves games.
  21. Well, after it took about 3 days most of the time last season....
  22. I'm sick of Kohl. Even if I love that he's kept the team in Milwaukee. He's been the owner since 1985. In the last 20 years, they've won two playoff series. TWO. They also happened in the same season. 16 teams make the playoffs every year. Imagine the wrath for the packers ownership group, if their principal owner had won 2 playoff games in 20 years.
