  1. You are right. Shows I shouldn't trust Cubs fans farther than I can throw 'em.
  2. I was down in Chicago last weekend, I was reminded that Alex Gonzalez has always been a Brewers secret agent, as well. 30 seconds in... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mZfOHoIG-8&feature=related
  3. A lot of that lower positioning has to be from drafts done before he was exonerated. I wonder where he's gone in drafts of just the last two weeks. ESPN has his average draft position as 4.9.
  4. hmm, Mark McGwire has failed for a few years now and Sammy Sosa (600+ HR) might fail as well. Or were you just referencing "clean" players? (Sheffield may be "clean" because he never appeared on a "list" but that doesn't mean he didn't use. Yeah, I meant guys without the taint of steroids. I don't think Sheff gets in even if he doesn't play in the steroid era. McGwire and Sosa would both be in, easily, if they weren't tainted.
  5. Someone is going to get to 3,000 hits and not get in. It will happen, the same way it happened with 400 HRs, and now could very well will with 500 HRs -- Gary Sheffield. My guess is that guy will be Johnny Damon (if he can find a job), who is 277 short of 3000, but it could very well be Michael Young.
  6. Exactly, but when Matt Kemp under performs compared to last season (99% guaranteed) no one will make a big deal out of it But Matt Kemp said he's gonna go 50/50 this year!
  7. Hairston signed so early (Dec 6th), that the Brewers weren't sure where their payroll was going to be. This was before K-Rod accepted arby, and had signed his 9M deal.
  8. Here we go again.... I highly recommend http://www.mywoot.net/ for all your woot off needs.
  9. Crab People.
  10. Chicago restaurants without an alcohol license sometimes let you bring your own booze.... at least, that's my understanding.
  11. There's no way a bar would let you bring in your own booze. That's how they make their money. You could look into something like this: http://county.milwaukee.gov/Upto60People9026.htm
  12. Molitor had a career 122 OPS+. He was really, really really good at hitting. Young's is 106. He's a good, but not great hitter. Young has had 3 seasons with a better OPS+ that Molitor had for his CAREER.
  13. Your numbers are completely off. I have no idea what you're looking at. vs RHP as LHB .218 .291 .418 .708 in 295 PA (.271 BABIP) vs LHP as RHB .268 .358 .465 .823 in 81 PA (.400 BABIP)
  14. If Johnny Damon gets to 3,000 hits, the number will no longer be magical. Much like when Dave Kingman hit 400 HRs.
  15. If you get off on 894, you'd want to take Greenfield to National (they criss-cross at 63rd st) and National to Miller Park Way. That is, if you plan to park in preferred or the lot to the East of the stadium. If you want to park in the North lot (off Bluemound), hop off at HWY 100 and take Bluemound Rd.
  16. Bars no longer have opening day packages. The Brewers no longer sell group seats for opening day.
  17. I hope you don't expect to watch the road games, from MLB.com's website: Regular Season Local Live Blackout: All live games on MLB.TV and available through MLB.com At Bat are subject to local blackouts. Such live games will be blacked out in each applicable Club's home television territory, regardless of whether that Club is playing at home or away So, if you're in the Brewers broadcast area, you cannot watch Brewers games legally.
  18. Hopefully Nyjer stops tweeting before he gets himself suspended.
  19. I was surprised he actually got some ABs. I'd forgotten all about that. At least one was in the game where Gamel got his first career hit and Gabe Kapler became my least favorite baseball player of all time. September 7, 2008. Broke up the perfecto. Stupid Kapler.
  20. I just butchered 130 wings. Making the marinade shortly. Grilling out, watching hoops, and drinking good beer all day tomorrow.
  21. Their backcourt now consists of two guys who score a combined 40 ppg, on 37 shots a game. Ellis can't guard anyone, and he doesn't get to the freethrow line. If you like 18 foot jumpers, you're going to see a lot of them with Jennings and Ellis.
  22. fangraphs.com defensive since 1999; -12, -4, -3, 3.2, 8.0, 7.3. -1.4. 9.7, 5.0, 7.0, 5.1 -0.3 = 5/12, tossing out the first year in'98 when he didn't play much although the 3.2 year wasn't a full year either so he could be 5/11 as negative on a fully year including last year and is getting older. How is that skewing a conclusion? Before 2002 they were not using UZR, instead they are using Total Zone ratings. Also, I really don't see how what he did 10 years ago has anything to do with how he might do this coming season. It doesn't. The same way Kotsay's pinch hitting average over his 15 year career had nothing to do with it either. His UZR/150 over the last 5 years averages out to be 7.8. The fluctuation in his WAR has been almost entirely based on his bat, rather than his glove. His 3.4 WAR year was so high because he was basically a league average bat. Considering he is a dead pull hitter, Miller Park should help him in that aspect over Turner Field.
  23. Best tweet I saw on this: "Essentially, the Bucks traded for the guy who let Brandon Jennings score 55 points."
  24. Yes, absolutely. Than be paying Ellis 33M over the next 3 years. They could've had Curry. They also could've gotten Scola, Dalembert and No. 1 pick plus other considerations for Bogut and Jackson from the Rockets. They took the worst of the poo poo platter, instead of buying out or amnestying Jackson.
  25. Yes. Yes he is. I can't wait to see that shot replayed.
