  1. I don't know if people heard this or not.... Chris Perez, of the Indians, talks about getting the call from LaRussa to plunk people. I still cannot believe he tried to deny throwing at Braun. http://siriusxmsports.posterous.com/chris-perez-indians-closer-discussed-getting
  2. If you're a history buff, there is a great bit of walking to do around Boston seeing things like Sam Adams grave, amongst many other things. As for the Fenway tour, make sure (if possible) to get one of the tours that goes up to the Monster seats. That's just too cool to miss.
  3. His last 19 games, since he's raised his BA from .238 to .268. BA OBP SLG OPS .397 .416 .589 1.005 BABIP: .419 There is absolutely a 0% chance he keeps this up. If we regress to his career babip of .284.... his BA drops to .269. OBP of .286.
  4. Has a lot more to do with him hitting in front of Braun and Prince than anything else (at least, I hope....)
  5. Guys who hit their 500th between 1960 and 1971: Aaron Mays Robinson Killebrew Mantle Williams Banks Mathews No skepticism was ever brought on those guys. They were just great. Its a gosh darned shame Bagwell wasn't a first ballot HOFer. I love Thome, and cannot stop watching his 490 foot HR. The guy can still hit, its more a question if his body can hold up another season.
  6. Yes, its my feeble attempt at satire, as I have never really comprehended why it is called a magic number in the first place. I figured it must be magical.
  7. And for August, there's the lovely hawing, posing with a wonderful bratwurst covered grill, and relish tray.
  8. There really is no parking space inside/under the stadium. No structure or anything like that. As for what's not bugging me: After Monday's game, walking across the bridge to the Yount lot, my buddy and I walked next to Ron Wolf. Didn't want to say anything, because I don't think anyone else realized who he was. As he turned to go down the stairs towards his car, I just said "Mr. Wolf, thanks for signing Reggie." He smiled, and nodded his head.
  9. Its so he can focus on his catching, because, apparently, if you hit 5th instead of 8th in the lineup your brain can only think about hitting 5th. Not which pitch to call or who is hitting for the other team at the moment. Heck, I bet if RRR hit him 5th, he'd probably end up catching with his mask on backwards or something.

  11. They were really playing for the best chance of catching the flyball, as opposed to getting him out on a hit. Although, I don't think Braun ever changes where he is positioned by more than two feet based on the situation (just one of my pet peeves after watching 4 or 5 two out doubles with a guy on first go over his head this year).
  12. All I could see when I saw that picture..... http://images.sodahead.com/profiles/0/0/1/8/5/7/1/2/1/Michael-Jacksons-smile-16733967352.jpeghttp://4.bp.blogspot.com/-frI4djlt-80/TbaJe2VvUOI/AAAAAAAAA3g/Fez9L3Gtei8/s1600/bianca-tai-raiders-cheerleader.png
  13. While it's true that ankles are easily re-injured, I don't think it has much to do with how soon you came back. It's the initial injury that weakens the joint, not really how long you rest it. Ankles heal at different rates depending on the severity but what you do depends entirely on how it feels. I've had ankle injuries that I incurred playing competitive basketball. If he's already walking on it and putting his full weight on it without assistance, he's already well on his way. The next step, is literally a step. Is he able to walk up and down steps normally, then he's close. The last hurdle will be pivoting on the ankle. The good news is that normal baseball movements are much less likely to injure ankles than a sport like basketball, where it's very easy to land on another foot. Most ankle injuries in baseball are from landing awkwardly on a base, just as Weeks did. To some extent you can control that. The issue with re-injuring is how much rehab you have done to restrengthen the tendons. Rest comes first, but if you don't do the proper amount of rehab then the tendons will still be weak and will be much, much easier to have the same type of injury occur again. I'm sure he'll be in some sort of soft-brace for the rest of the season, while doing rubber band and "alphabet" workouts to get his ankle back to 100%.
  14. http://www.bestsportsphotos.com/images//t_40440.jpg Too soon?
  15. I'd rather he come back later, at 100% than sooner at 80%. Ankles are so easy to re-injure.
  16. "Tickle it into the outfield" is now my favorite euphemism.

  18. I will be attending my 5th straight Brewers game this evening. Setting a new personal record, and tomorrow will make it 6 straight. I really will miss Milwaukee if I get a job somewhere else.
  19. Gomez....Baseball, baseball, Gomez...... can you hear me? (thanks a lot, Hawing)
  20. Pitching will click on all cylinders, the influx of veteran grit from Hairston will add at least 7 more road wins this month. A completely unrealistic and optimistic 22-6.
  21. What I don't understand is why Lopez is automatically a better option than Wilson at 2B. in his last 500 PA -- his totals for 2010 and 2011 -- Lopez has a .640 OPS
  22. In fact, the 'Crews days off are horribly split up. I just don't get it. 2 days off surrounding a 3 game series, and 2 days off surrounding the 2-gamer with the Rockies. RRR will have the opportunity to skip Narveson down the stretch. I wonder if he'll use it, especially the way Greinke has been throwing the ball.
  23. I dont understand sitting Morgan against a RHP. I simply do not. If you feel such a need to play Kotsay, sit Hart for a game.
  24. Kotsay in CF again today. There is no excuse for that, period.
