  1. 1) No. 2) The 2014 team ended with a negative run differential. The idea that they were some great team simply isn't true. Over the last three months of the season they were outscored 267 - 314!! The fact that ownership looked at that team in the offseason and thought, "We are fine" was a huge failing.
  2. C'mon guys, this wasn't about being guaranteed a starting spot. That's Lucroy's agent leaking that. This was about him demanding they waive his team option.
  3. Alright I apologize. I thought you were attacking me. It's sounds weird, but it's been a roller coaster of emotions today.
  4. He must've gone to Junior College. They are eligible regardless of how many years they spend in school. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/draftday/rules.jsp
  5. IF being the key word...there are too many variables...and when have the brewers EVER hit on any prospects they have acquired thru trades?? When they have hit, it's been there own homegrown talent. That's why i said earlier...I agree 100% with Tim Allen's take...enough talk about " multiple prospects" enough talk about "high ceilings" and "potential" in a deal for LuCroy. What this franchise needs more than anything else to turn the corner is an absolute "can't miss" guy...that's what you should be asking for in a trade. I'd rather have one "can't miss" prospect, than 5-6 "high ceiling" guys with "potential" that may or may not work out...because honestly, they might to an extent, but I'd bet none of them would develop into a can't miss guy. 1) You're quoting Tim Allen, who would trade the entire AAA and AA teams to win 5 more games this season. So, I can't exactly take your words seriously. 2) The idea that not trading Lucroy for the best deal you can get right now would have no effect compared to playing out his contract is ludicrous. 3) The Brewers have traded approximately 1 guy with anywhere near Lucroy's value in the last 10 years: Greinke. For that they got Hellweg, Segura and Ariel Pena. Segura happened to be the #1 Angels prospect and was considered an absolute "Can't Miss" prospect. What this franchise needs more than anything is to acquire talent for a guy they won't be resigning. Things they didn't get with Sabathia, Fielder and Hart.
  6. I'll never forget this game: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIL/MIL200709030.shtml That 2007 season was a fun one for sure. I see he allowed a passed ball and 3 wild pitches. Is there something else I'm missing there? He scored from first on a Craig Counsell triple, on what might be my favorite Brian Anderson call ever. Sadly, I can't seem to find a link to the video.

  8. Clearly Kottaras also needs to be on the list.
  9. Everyone always forgets Tris Speaker and Mel Ott.

  11. Judge throws out Minor League's class action lawsuit. Will continue to pay guys in the minors almost nothing. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/mlb-scores-big-win-in-minor-league-wage-lawsuit/
  12. Always loved watching him play. The way he seemed to uncork those vicious throws from RF with little to no effort always amazed me. Not sure where I'd rank him all-time. His 10 year run was pretty impressive, averaging about 5.5 WAR per season -- actually really similar to Jim Edmonds in that sense. Ichiro will most likely be enshrined on the first ballot to the HoF while Edmonds received less than 5% on his first ballot.
  13. No. They don't have to spend anything. The salary floor rules are simply that the team must pay out that much in contracts. So, if they don't meet the floor, then they just have to pay the players who played for them extra money. This is an idiotic contract, the same as Henson's was the moment he signed it. When you can get 90% of a player for 20% of the price, it's a dumb deal. They are now set on spending 25% of their cap space on C's (assuming they trade Monroe) who really aren't that good. Once again, John Hammond negotiated against himself and lost. Actually, yes they do. The cap is 94M and teams must spend 90% of that. If they fail to do so in contracts they write a check for the difference, which is then divided among the players on the roster at season's end (which you stated). But they're still spending at least 90% of that cap number hence they MUST pay that dollar amount. You can believe Plumlee and Henson aren't worth 4/52 and 4/44 but the market absolutely says otherwise. Henson is actually underpaid based on the market. Why else do you think player's are getting absurd contracts for their actual skill set? It's the market due to the new cap. Henson, if given 30mpg, will post a double-double plus blocks/altering shots. Plumlee has put up 8/8 in 25mpg in the past and he's a better player now than at that time. Most importantly, who are better, and cheaper, options than Henson and Plumlee that fit the Bucks system? I'll wait.... The cap number is rising again next year to low-100M so if Plumlee is given more time due to the absence of Monroe and continues to perform well he would have received a larger contract next year than he just signed hence saving us money. Plumlee, like Henson, needs more and consistent PT as they're effective when on the floor. They both fit the mold for what this team targets in general - length, athleticism - and in regard to their position - rebounding, shot blocking/altering and better defense than Monroe, which absolutely will be traded to have the Henson/Plumlee combo at C. Is Plumlee worth 4/52M in general? Absolutely not. But it's the market. Henson, if on the market now, would get a heck of a lot more than the 4/44 he's under. Just like Middleton would get a lot more than he signed for (potentially close to a max contract). It's why they're working on locking up Giannis for 5yrs longer right now otherwise when he's a FA getting that max contract will be more expensive. It's not Hammond it's the market. If you don't think these guys have crunched the numbers for what they currently have locked up, what they're looking at locking up for the future (Giannis then Parker) then there's nothing else to say as you're free to believe what you want but this is the reality of it. The focal point players will be here long-term and built around. Let's just show you this, and maybe then you can comprehend why this was an idiotic signing: Bucks Salary totals, 2018/2019, when both Giannis and Jabari on on max deals: Giannis: 29M Jabari: 29M Middleton 13M Henson 11M Plumlee 13M ------------------ 95M The cap, right now, is projected to be at 104M. Vaughn's cap hold will be ~3M as will Maker's. They are now paying 24M for mediocre at best C's, 22% of their cap space and this is assuming they can move Monroe. He wouldn't have received a larger contract next year, teams won't all have max cap space to spend next year. The cap is jumping 10% and not 28%. Hence, saving during an off season when spending was ridiculous was a smart thing to do -- deals next year will be cheaper and more in line with normal salary escalation.
  14. It's corporate espionage. That is serious stuff for a 10 billion dollar industry (MLB). I think the punishment fits the crimes (yes, each time he did it, it was a new crime -- the same way that each time you break into a house, it is a new crime). Now, the other crimes... well, no, they clearly did not have proper punishment.
  15. No. They don't have to spend anything. The salary floor rules are simply that the team must pay out that much in contracts. So, if they don't meet the floor, then they just have to pay the players who played for them extra money. This is an idiotic contract, the same as Henson's was the moment he signed it. 16. Giannis and Jabari are the stars. If they aren't, it won't matter for at least 3 years anyway. When everyone has cap space, no star is going to choose Milwaukee to play in.
  17. Hammond has never paid way more than market value instead of waiting for a restricted free agent to sign an offer sheet before and deciding to match. Oh wait. That's all he's done.
  18. Not as morbid as the one I saw last week, (and I'm paraphrasing here) "Donate blood. Don't waste it. Pay attention while driving."
  19. If something is going to be less-than permanent, would it be so bad to spend a couple hours a year setting it up and taking it down? Without actually seeing a layout, I'd think that some sort of awning + mosquito curtains would be the easiest solution.
  20. Breaking them down: 3 at first, 5 at 3rd (!!) and 2 at home. By comparison, Lucroy, Braun and Carter have made a total of 8 outs on the bases. This doesn't take into account how many times his base running added something the other three do not. If for instance he added more runs due to his base running than the other three combined that kind of changes the picture doesn't it? You're absolutely correct. I just pulled the 3 guys who had the most PA's for the Brewers other than Villar and added them together. His speed effects the game and adds runs to the table, however, being stupid and getting thrown out that often is not a good thing. The point is, eliminate the stupid mistakes and he'll be worth even more to the team.
  21. 3 years of not growing and an NBA diet and workout routine can do wonders. http://sports.cbsimg.net/images/visual/whatshot/120213_Giannis.jpghttp://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/dam/assets/160310004108-giannis-antetokounmpo-miami-heat-v-milwaukee-bucks.1200x672.jpeg
  22. If my math is correct, if Wilkins gets 14 days of service time this season, he will qualify for the MLB pension. If they decide to start Davies on the 19th (after an off day) that, I believe, would give him his 14 days.
  23. He's now made 10 outs on the bases, not including the 9 caught stealing and 2 times he's been picked off. Outs on the bases: Breaking them down: 3 at first, 5 at 3rd (!!) and 2 at home. By comparison, Lucroy, Braun and Carter have made a total of 8 outs on the bases.
  24. He'd gotten 4 stitches on his shooting index finger about 4 hours before the first SL game. I'd imagine that effected him quite a bit.
  25. At the game tonight. Learned in the first that Scooter is scared of birds.
