  1. If top teams were forced to play tougher schedules, they wouldn't always finish with 1 loss. Part of the reason the top teams look so loaded is they are rarely tested. The parity is there, it's just not tested as much. It's tough to say if the current lack of parity is temporary or part of a longer-term trend. I suspect it will continue. The revenue gap continues to grow. And the top programs have gotten really good at poaching coaches from anyone that tries to compete with them. I do agree that a team like Clemson was not tested at all this year. I don't know what you do about that. Leave an undefeated national champion out of the top 4?
  2. As much as more playoff teams would be fun for the fans it isn't fair to the student athletes. It seems highly unlikely that the best team in the country would be left out of the top 4, so if our goal is to find the champion then I'm not sure why we need more teams. 6 just sounds like a recipe to let more SEC teams in. Which by the way, how is Alabama ranked #13? I would rank them ahead of a Georgia team that has a bad loss on their resume and just got throttled by LSU.
  3. The Oregon matchup is a good one, I'm looking forward to the game.
  4. This game further demonstrated the massive talent gap. Wisconsin had a great game plan and in the end they got crushed. If Fields hadn’t missed a couple open receivers early on they would have been down at halftime.
  5. The talent gap is everywhere. They wore us down the same way we do to the dregs of the Big Ten.
  6. It's more fun to be on the other side of these. But OSU is really, really good. Had to play near-perfect to win and they made too many mistakes. I have to say I'm looking forward to Ohio State vs. LSU, that should be a great game.
  7. Wow... just wow. This defense has been out-and-out terrible after the first three games. Congrats on winning worst take of the day
  8. I wouldn't call it a collapse. They just ran out of gas against a good team.
  9. This is going to go down to the wire, isn't it?
  10. Still early. But I'm in shock. Figured WI could get creative but to get a complete half like that is incredible. Long way to go.
  11. Empty the playbook for this one. Could be the game.
  12. Still was about as good as the first half could have possibly gone.
  13. Still early but what a performance by Coan so far!
  14. Almost stopped him but not quite
  15. Apparently the refs missed a 12-man penalty on Ohio State on that punt.
  16. Fields doesn't appear to be fully mobile. Great pass coverage on that drive.
  17. Great move to take the ball and march down the field
  18. The new turf has the mower lines as well. I feel like it is inevitable that all retractable roof stadiums including Miller Park switch over. The benefits for hosting non-baseball events are too good to pass up.
  19. The difference is ultimately that Clemson got lucky against UNC and Wisconsin didn't against Illinois. Although 2 losses to OSU would be disqualifying under any scenario. The high rankings of these mediocre 1-loss Pac-12 teams shows that losses are ultimately what matters. Best case is a good showing against OSU and a Rose Bowl win. The blowout win scenarios are too impossible for me to even comprehend.
  20. https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mlb/miami-marlins/article238030704.html With the Diamondbacks, Rangers, and Marlins now having artificial turf it begs the question of whether the Brewers will eventually make the switch. I honestly had no idea the Diamondbacks had switched...their field looks exactly like real grass.
  21. That's going to be the debate with chalk wins this weekend. Utah or OK. Well I guess Utah or either B12 team. I'd have my money on Utah barring a massive blowout by OU combined with a narrow Utah win. OU has just looked crappy the last several weeks before the solid win vs OK ST last week. Squeaking by some mediocre teams while Utah has been flying under the radar blowing everyone out since their loss other than one road game at Wash. 7/8 games blowouts. So I'd assume Utah remains ahead tonight and barring something drastic in the title games will hold onto it. OU has just looked off. But like you're getting at, since its Oklahoma they'll find a way in. Utah will lose to free up that spot, then boom they're in, yet again. Would just be nice with some fresh blood this year with LSU, Utah, and really I guess OSU hasn't been in several years either. All these borderline teams have approximately the same talent level so it would be great to just let somebody new in. Unfortunately that's not how it works. Rolling through a weak Pac-12 does not give me much confidence in Utah.
  22. I hate it but I think Oklahoma finds a way to get the 4th playoff spot.
  23. MLB has changed since the 90s...guys like Cirillo don't exist anymore. If you are missing power you better draw a ton of walks because nobody makes a career out of hitting for average these days.
