  1. At the pace the Cardinals are going, the Brewers could end up with a 10-0 road trip and still be 2 games back.
  2. We know what the logic of Giants' fans will be: Cabrera cheated -> rescinded batting title Braun "cheated" -> should have rescinded 2011 MVP.
  3. Pirates' playoff odds drop to 0.4%. The dream is over for them, although I do hope they can salvage .500 now that we are done with them. Brewers only up to 16.9%. The Cardinals should be thankful for the easy schedule or else the Brewers might be ahead of them already. The Washington series will be more challenging, hopefully the Crew can keep pace and maybe gain a game.
  4. Could have gotten more, hopefully Fiers is ok after sitting for 20 minutes.
  5. Well to their credit, Pittsburgh has come a long way since they were the Cubs' AAA affiliate in the early 2000s.
  6. That was about a foot from making it 5-0. Nice work by the offense already today.
  7. At least the Brewers game is going well so far. 3-0 with that Ramirez bomb.
  8. At least the 'stros got one back, now 5-4 Cardinals with 2 on, 1 out. The Brewers could really, really use a Cards loss today. If the Cards keep up this pace, the Brewers would almost have to win out to catch them.
  9. The Pirates have been terrible for so long that a whole generation of fans grew up not caring about baseball. The ones who did probably like other teams instead. So the fans might not necessarily come back because they don't exist in the first place. Even if the Pirates have success, it will take a long time to solve their attendance problems.
  10. The Cardinals' magic number is 13, the Brewers' number is higher than that, I think it's 18. After the Cardinals finish the win, the Cards' magic number will be 12.
  11. Arrrrrrrrgh, I be moving this to the off topic forum.
  12. It's hard to quantify it, but all the movement on the bases distracts the opposing pitcher and catcher. Under Macha, the opponents knew that the Brewers weren't going to run. Now the base stealing is constant, it's at the top and bottom of the order, and they have continued to get better at avoiding stupid baserunning mistakes. For whatever reason, opponents are not intentionally walking Braun much this year, so they have been stealing when he bats as well. I agree that Aoki is a huge part of the offense, it is too bad he is 30 years old already. The resurgence of Rickie Weeks in the #2 spot is equally as important. And they are getting RBIs from the 1-2 spots as well when the bottom of the order gets on. Even Segura gets on base more than Yuni did and Segura is 5/5 in stolen bases.
  13. Wow, the playoff odds (temporarily) spiked to 13.2%. That's the highest since May.
  14. Looks like the Astros aren't going to give us any help tonight. At least the Pirates will be in the rear view mirror (at least temporarily). Lots of doubleheaders coming up this week after the weather today.
  15. Haha, 6 steals tonight. I guess this is what Melvin wanted when he hired Runnin' Ron.
  16. Even better, they are going to play the game and the projected start time is 10:40 CDT.
  17. The Brewers still have a lot of work left to do. I agree with rluzinski, they really need to go 7-3 on this road trip to have a legitimate shot. Anything lower and they will probably stay even with the Cardinals or lose ground, which will still leave them with playoff odds of 10% or less going into the final 6 games. The only team that the Brewers can take care of themselves is the Pirates, and most do not consider them to be a threat anyway. The Brewers don't control their own destiny and are highly dependent on the Cardinals to lose some easy games that they should win. They also need to hope that the Dodgers continue to play at or below .500 ball. The more optimistic perspective is that if the Brewers keep at the pace they have been going at for the last month (winning 3 out of every 4 games), they will get to 85 or 86 wins and have a decent shot at forcing a 1-game playoff.
