Now he has at least 2 chances at another 3-hr game. I would love to turn on the game and see him bat, but instead MLB insists that I can only watch the designated game that doesn't even involve teams in my market. -
Izturis doesn't belong on a major league roster, and the statistics suggest that has been the case for the better part of a decade.

The Marlins' roof has only been open 7 times this year. It is unlikely that it will be opened again this year. The A/C makes a big difference when the humidity is high. There is a slight flaw in the ballpark and the top 5 rows or so of the upper deck are above the A/C vents and are about 15 degrees warmer than the rest of the stadium. There has only been 1 sellout so it isn't a serious problem. At Miller Park, the same problem might occur in portions of the upper deck. I agree that adding A/C is not cost effective, but maybe instead they could just add A/C in the terrace concourse? Or maybe this just isn't that big of a problem since it only affects about 10 summer games per year.

Yep another Brewers nationwide blackout. Seems like it is every Saturday this year. They already got my $120 in March, so I guess it makes no difference to MLB. I wonder if the extra viewers from the game being on over-air TV makes up for the loss of online viewers?

How many more runs will Weeks generate at the top of the order compared to Gomez? Their OBPs are less than 20 points apart. Gomez is faster. There really isn't any difference at all. There is no possible lineup combination that will solve the run scoring problem with this current group of players.

As we all know, Mark A. has spared no expense in keeping Miller Park in great condition. However, the park was still constructed on a limited budget and a few features were left out, the most important of which is air conditioning!!! It has been previously mentioned that the park was designed for a future A/C upgrade. I was just talking to my family and they said they left the game last night in the 6th inning because it was unbearably hot and uncomfortable (I'm sure the score didn't help). Tonight, they refused free tickets because they had no interest in sitting in a sweltering hot ballpark for 3 hours. I know in previous years the topic has come up, especially when the roof has been closed on a hot night due to the threat of rain. The topic is of special interest this week because the temperature is expected to be near or above 90 degrees for the entire home stand. The benefits of A/C speak for themselves, here are some possible concerns: -Cost will probably exceed $10 million (possibly several times that), maybe better to spend that on players? -MP is nicer with the roof open, having A/C will result in more roof closed games, even when it isn't unbearably hot -The terrace level will benefit the most, which is the lowest priced seating option and is often half empty -The lack of A/C doesn't appear to be scaring anyone away Another possible option would be to upgrade the windows above the terrace level to allow them to be opened when the weather is hot. However, that option may lead to unintended changes in the air currents for fly balls. Any thoughts?

Yes, thanks for saying this. It's actually the complete opposite of the national game. The correct term is the "regional and international only game" because nobody else is allowed to watch the game. I also make sure not to watch the Fox game. I had hoped that they get as low of TV ratings as possible, but instead they have just decided to add even more regional games to make up for it.

I suspect the selling plan was initiated as soon as Lucroy went down. Maybe even sooner, it was already looking bleak when half the infield was done for the year.

Is there any evidence that he was caught job searching or that he is a jerk? Or are you guys just posting more unsubstantiated rumors? Also, there are a few posts on this in the Random MLB news thread as well. I guess we can continue the discussion here, as long as it is kept reasonable.

That was bad. I can see how the ump thought he went down with the ball. But he didn't have it in his glove when he got up--in fact some fan got the ball. Nice job selling it though.

I like the Rays' strategy. They have had a different closer every year for 8 years in a row. The position isn't that special, there's no point in glorifying it. For some reason it's a big deal to pull Axford from the closer's role, but the rest of the bullpen roles can get reshuffled all the time.

From what I can tell, Sutton wasn't fired and he is off for an undisclosed personal reason. The D'backs denied the rumor that he was in trouble for criticizing personnel moves. The story does remain a little suspicious though, there could have been some other sort of internal conflict, it doesn't appear that it is a health or family issue. There would be a huge backlash from fans if Sutton was fired for criticizing the team, but then again we all remember what happened to Ulice Payne when he became too critical of ownership... -

That's an interesting opinion and I would say it's the complete opposite of conventional thinking on this issue. Most would say that cruising through quick innings is easy on the arm and that it is the long innings with high pitch counts that are difficult.
