  1. Excellent. Not a surprise at all and I hope this report is true.
  2. I don't see them doing anything and it shouldn't change attendance numbers much. They already sold 2.7-2.8 million tickets this year so the only way they miss 3 million will be if they completely fall out of the race. I don't see why we would rush a deal now when there will be free agents available to sign in the off-season and several months of trade possibilities. The offense should be fine for next year, so the average fan will probably make their decision based on the pitching staff that we acquire. There will automatically be a drop-off since we will probably miss the playoffs, but I think most fans are smart enough to realize that you can't make the postseason every year and trading prospects now does not make any sense.
  3. It feels really good to get a win!!! Now lets get that second win in a row for the first time this month.
  4. Nice to see us using our best reliever in a close game for a change.
  5. ESPN basically took one look at our pitching staff back in March and decided to ignore us for the whole year. Considering the extra wins we would have with Parra pitching like last year, Bush being healthy, and Rickie Weeks playing full time, we could easily have been right there.
  6. Casey!!! Brewers lead!!! If this was 2008, I would give us about a 80% chance of winning the game. This year, with this bullpen, I put us at about 50%.
  7. I found a high resolution picture of the terrace and counted the rows. The inner sections (about 415-430) have 19-21 rows. The outer sections have 21-24 rows. Rows 1-7 are terrace box, but the sections with entrances are missing rows 4-7. Our 9-pack is in row 3 of TB 418. They are excellent seats for the money. There is nobody sitting behind us and only 2 rows in front. It is extremely quick getting out to the bathrooms/concessions/leaving the ballpark after the game. One issue that we had in the past with the terrace was obstructed view seating in rows 8-10 or so due to the railings, so keep that in mind.
  8. If the Brewers finish ahead of St. Louis in the standings, Prince could get MVP. Bonds did steal a few MVPs from Pujols, so I can get over it.
  9. It came out a little too orange, but that was how they looked. I'm still holding out to see something like this though.
  10. Why do people want Washburn? We have a rotation filled with mediocre pitchers, so lets trade/sign another mediocre pitcher. Makes sense to me.
  11. I thought this post from the JS Brewers blog was excellent: "Sounds like a back problem to me, maybe whiplash. Snapping the head around tracking home run balls can put a strain on the spine! Send him to the chiropractor!"
  12. I guess I don't see what the big deal with reinstating him is. It's not like he's going to get into the HOF, and even in the unlikely event that he could get the votes, it's not like his numbers are tainted by steroids like everyone else from 1990 on. Rose is one of the all time greats and he loves baseball. He's paid a steep price and he deserves to be part of the game again. It's not like he actually is a murderer, he just had a gambling problem. I would sign him as a hitting coach, he's been working with A-rod for awhile.
  13. I didn't go storm chasing, but cool mammatus clouds came to me in Madison!!! http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/e361511b8e6b443c271e4b242c3cba8225a550c.jpg
  14. I'm stuck at work today unfortunately. Probably wouldn't have chased anyway since there are too many hills/trees in SW Wisconsin. There was a great multicellular cluster out there for awhile--likely will be at least 2 confirmed tornadoes, maybe more. Madison probably won't even see a drop of rain, with maybe some light rain in the Milwaukee area. Also of note is that Madison has virtually clinched the coldest July ever and Milwaukee is still sitting at the 4th driest July ever.
  15. Even if we win 7 in a row by sweeping the Nationals and Padres, it doesn't change the seriously flawed roster. There's still way too many games left against contenders and we appear capable of only winning 1/3 games when we get a good pitching performance or the offense wakes up for a day. We've been talking about the same flaws on this team since the 4-9 start to the season and now we are worse off than April due to injuries. I would like them get a starting pitcher or a reliever, but only if they are signed for 2010 also, since we will need to be filling these holes in the off-season anyway.
  16. Diamondbacks fans did not like Lopez. He had a reputation for poor defense and general laziness. That's not the kind of player we should be signing. Let someone else get suckered into giving him a multi-year deal.
  17. We can sign Jesus, Mohammed, and Gandhi, but it still won't make up for losing Sheets and Sabathia.
  18. The sad part is that I'm no longer surprised when they get blown out.
  19. You can't sell with 2.7 million+ tickets sold. Plus, we don't really have anything worth selling. I'm sure there are some contenders out there that would really like to get their hands on Hall, Hardy, Hart, etc...
  20. And boom goes the dynamite. Uggh. This team can't put together any kind of consistency.
  21. Once again, I have absolutely no confidence in the Brewers winning a day game to take the series.
  22. I also managed to catch Parra fire his glove into the dugout. I wonder if he was mad about the questionable umpiring or that he wasn't pitching well (although he had just gotten out of a big jam). As for McClung, I was wondering why nobody went to check on him after the pitch hit the backstop. Dave Bush shouldn't have been allowed to continue in Florida and McClung got away with throwing about 5-10 more pitches than he should have. The bullpen is horrible right now. Last year if the score was 4-4 in the middle innings, I would expect it to stay close until the Brewers took the lead. The Braves didn't have a 1-2-3 inning last night and could have easily scored 12-15 runs if a few line drives weren't hit right at the outfielders.
  23. The Cardinals have improved, but I still consider the Cubs to be the division favorites.
