    Definitely the best no-hitter saving catch of all time. As for being great by itself, I'm not that impressed. There have been at least 10-15 home run robbing catches in the last month. The other day there were 2 great ones.

    The Milwaukee NWS office is really jumping on this one. The situation is interesting but as with any severe weather outbreak, lots of factors have to go right (or wrong depending on how you look at it). Basically, a fast moving Alberta Clipper is going to move to the north of the area, but will tap into moist, unstable air from the south. Upper level wind shear favors supercells and the low level shear looks good for high tornado potential. As always, the big question is whether the cells will fire in the afternoon, ahead of the cold front. The storm chasing message have starting going out between the other meteorologists that I know, so I will probably be chasing on Friday if the situation looks good. Two days ahead is still way too early to say anything for certain. In all likelihood we will see thunderstorms with a few being severe, but the potential for multiple tornadoes is there, so stay tuned. Edit: Of course, it doesn't look so potent anymore today. I made my plans to drive to Milwaukee for the Brewers game instead of chasing.

    Why should Melvin be removed? What should he have done differently? Who should replace him? Besides, the season isn't over yet. What are the other teams in the division doing to get better? Mark DeRosa is the only addition to any of our competition.

    This seems to happen with the fan base whenever a manager is with the same team for a few years. Some fans agree with the manager's philosophy and will defend just about every move. An opposition also seems to develop who take every controversial move and use it to justify firing the manager. The dichotomy seems to grow as time progresses. We saw it with Yost, the same thing is happening to the Cubs with Piniella. There are Atlanta Braves fans who dislike Cox and would rather see Yost. If the team is doing well, you will see fan websites dominated by the "pro-manager" groups. When things start to head south, the "fire ____" crowd gains momentum. I'm sure there are people in the middle, but I doubt they go to internet fan sites.

    I'm hoping for about a 5 hour rain delay tomorrow so that it becomes a night game.

    I love a good fight but why the Pirates? This happened months ago and we should have just let it go. It would be nice to brawl with the Cubs or Cardinals, but we have walked over the Pirates for the last 2 years and getting into these altercations is only going to give them more incentive to beat us. The Pirates have good reason to be angry at us for something that should have been over months ago.

    The storms are moving north because the moisture is originating from the tropics (southerly flow). Looks like the rain is ending and they should start by 8 PM.

    Looks like the rain will lighten up shortly but I doubt they will play until about 8 CDT.

    Wow, we actually plated the walks with hits from the bottom of the order. Impressive.

    Considering the way the bottom of the order has been hitting lately, walking both Braun and Fielder with no outs will probably yield less runs than pitching to both of them.

    I don't see how we can compete for a playoff spot with Bush gone.

    I used to be into bowling but haven't had the time recently. I've picked up running in the last few years, I guess that qualifies. I would like to get better at storm chasing/weather photography.

    I'm not sure how others feel, but to me, the thought of Prince Fielder in a Red Sox or Yankees jersey is just sickening. It was easy enough to get over CC since he was only around for a few months, but I remember Prince when he was wearing a Beloit Snappers jersey. From there, it's been amazing to watch his career progression as he continues to prove his critics wrong. He accomplished a 50 HR season, a walkoff HR during the last week of a pennant race, and now has won the HR derby which is guaranteed to send his stardom to its highest level yet. Of course, this has its consequences for Brewers fans. Many skeptics were converted last night and now want to keep Prince. However, the fans/management of the other 29 teams also witnessed the show and are well aware that players of his caliber rarely stay in a small market like Milwaukee. That being said, Prince is also a witness to crowds of 35,000 + every night at Miller Park. I'm sure he remembers the standing ovations that he got after he started slow in 2006. He appears comfortable with his teammates--especially Ryan Braun--and of course Ryan adds protection in the lineup as well. Having Gamel bat behind Fielder will eventually help as well. Prince is also soft spoken and may not be comfortable with the media circus that often occurs in the big markets. But in the end, money talks. As long as Mark A. owns the team, the Brewers will be able to pay Fielder and will be able to field a competitive team. We offered $100 million to CC, so we know they are willing to put money on the table. I will be very disappointed if Fielder is not signed to a long term extension.

    Excellent. I wonder if they will print Hoffman all-star jersey shirts. I really want one.

    Yeah, the roof was closed (and it eventually stormed) but the side panels were open. There were apparently major issues with roof leakage during the HR derby.

    The reason this keeps coming up is because the hotel enjoys the publicity and refuses to deny that the hotel is haunted. I highly doubt the number of clients scared away by "ghosts" is enough to allow common sense to prevail.
