  1. I know we're going to have some empty seats tonight but this crowd at Tropicana Field is really small for a playoff game. Maybe we shouldn't be doing playoff games on a weekday afternoon while school is in session?
  2. If we win this series, I think we ride the momentum to a deep postseason run. If we lose this series, the Counsell era is going to largely be remembered for regular season success and postseason failure.
  3. As long as we don't 4D chess our way into another Mark Kotsay in CF moment.
  4. And the thing about FA $/WAR is that you really can't calculate it on a 1-year basis because you are knowingly buying out low production years at the end of the contract. So those 2023 FA $/WAR numbers for the Rangers are probably the best that they will ever be over the life of those 7+ year contracts.
  5. Did we bring him back too soon? We didn't need him to win the division.
  6. Given the latest news... Dbacks in 3 Phillies in 3 Jays in 2 Rays in 3
  7. I live in Seattle and cheer equally for the Brewers and Mariners so you can imagine how I feel about how it turned out.
  8. When it works...it works. A lot of teams would love to have that 12 WAR acquired through free agency at the top of the Rangers' lineup. They paid $500M for it...similar to what Ohtani is likely to get. (plus they threw money at deGrom as well LOL...and all of that for a wild card spot)
  9. This might be the most lopsided pitching matchup in the history of the wild card round (either single elimination or the new format). I’m still terrified.
  10. The D’backs look awful. I would rather face them than the Marlins.
  11. The Cubs’ playoff odds have fallen to 4%. An incredible collapse.
  12. The Cardinals are ready to go golfing in Arizona.
  13. For the WC round you can pick up a free 7-day Fubo TV trial to get ESPN/ESPN2. If they make the NLDS I think that will be on TBS, I think that's on sling so you could switch to a Sling trial. Or I think you can get TBS with Hulu?
  14. Last I checked it looked like there were about 35,000 tickets sold and what was left was all in the terrace. If I was going to go I would wait for the resale market at this point, as soon as they announce the games will be at like 1 PM on a weekday it will be easy to get better seats for cheap.
  15. And whenever we decide the run is over we'll blow it up and get a bunch of draft picks in return.
  16. I'm 100% convinced that Yadi made the last 4 Cards managers look like geniuses. It's tough to admit that because I don't like the guy, but their pitching results speak for themselves.
  17. It's huge as an acquisition and twice as huge to keep him away from the competition. Miami in particular.
  18. Other than correctly predicting that Winker would be a failure, my predictions were pretty awful. Although I still think Woodruff would have outperformed Burnes if he would have been healthy the whole year. At least I had us in a playoff spot (behind the Cards LOL). The bullpen has been much better than I expected, I underestimated our ability to cobble together some serviceable arms behind Williams.
  19. I am so pumped about this. Dame is going to come in hungry. No offense to Jrue but we’re adding a true superstar.
  20. And this is the same media that is arrogant enough to think that Craig Counsell might want to come to New York.
  21. https://newstalk1130.iheart.com/featured/common-sense-central/content/2023-09-26-exclusive-not-an-accident-brewers-owner-leading-as-relocation-committee/ I'm pretty sure Manfred would move the Yankees if he thought there was a better revenue opportunity elsewhere.
  22. Looks like Wainwright decided to go out on a high note.
  23. Honestly this "controversy" is hilarious. So Donaldson walks in and his buddy immediately starts messing with him. And everyone gets a laugh about it? One needs to be careful with fan-created media that is trying to draw clicks... (which I am writing on a fan-created media site LOL).
  24. Pressure and expectations really mess with baseball players, plus these 80-something win teams would have historically been eliminated by now. The Padres and Mariners are incredibly un-clutch this year. Seattle's young pitching seems to have run out of gas. The Rangers had those epic bullpen meltdowns when their bats went cold, they got lucky they had a big cushion and slumped early enough to have time to get over it. The Blue Jays had the injury bug and clubhouse issues. The Astros are a classic case of championship hangover. The NL has all these young, flawed teams overachieving with little expectations...until the pressure ramped up in September and suddenly none of them can keep it together.
