  1. I hope they can swing a trade to get some value for Nottingham as he has no spot on this club. With Narvaez/Pina one of the best tandems in the majors and Feliciano in the high minors, they seem to be set. They have six C in thier top 25 prospect list as well. They look to be covered for a while now.
  2. This is a good post on an interesting topic. I have been wondering this myself. The Brewers have a ton of middle infielders/3B in the lower minors but are really barren at AAA/AA. They could have easily signed minor league FA to fill SS but they never did. My guess is they plan to push a lot of these college guys quickly through the minors. I had guessed Holt would pair with Turang due to age, but I did not realize how old Devanney was. He was really good at adv rookie ball in '19 too. Hamilton is also older but I assumed the injury would hold him back. Hopefully he is fully recovered. Another thing to consider is that the Latin players (D. Castillo, E.Garcia, Parra, and Jaraba) are all stateside so they will need to get AB/innings at those same crowded positions.
  3. He has been hit by the Brewers 2x in 2019, 4x in 2020, and now 3x in 2021. He season totals are 9, 14, and 5 (48 total in his 6 year career but we play against him often so those are not huge outliers. He gets hits a lot, primarily because he crowds the plate and actively tries to get hit. To complain about it and then retaliate against it is immature and unprofesional. As for Tepera's comments, that could be grounds for additional suspensions. To paraphrase, he's seeking justice his own way, on the field. Hard to beleive MLB should tolerate that behavior. His later comment implies he meant no harm, just wanted to send a message. Throwing behind the legs is one things, but f he had gone for the head, it would be a different story. All is this is just stupid behavior especially since there is no indication the Brewers are doing this intentionally.
  4. There are a handful of latin players that surprised me that they are stateside. Hedbert, I guess, should be no surprise since he was at the alt training site last year. Others like J. Quero, L. Medina, J.Parra, E. Fernandez, E. Garcia are all stateside and I would have expected them to be in DSL. Other signings like J. Chourio and E. Bautista are not stateside so it would be interesting to know why. Chourio is our 15th best prospect per MLB, but maybe because he is only 17 they are holding him back.
  5. For those of us who dont have an Athletic account and dont know what the double-hook rule is, see this link https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/04/mlb-move-mound-back-double-hook-dh-atlantic-league.html I agree with this and it would make it easier for the NL to adopt the DH but still keep the manager strategery that we like in the later innings.
  6. Awesome inning! All from a bunch of guys who have really been scraping. Infield defense will get shuffled with the Urias PH, but will be much better after all this. I predict Urias = ss, Hiura = 1b, Robertson = 2b
  7. If Wong needs to go on the IL, I would think Pablo Reyes would get called up first. But it is good to have Dee as some depth and at least now they have someone to play SS at AAA.Don't forget, that Huira guy has played a little 2B as well. I'm sure they dont want to shuffle him back and forth between positions, but this would be a way to get Vogelbach into the lineup along with Huira. Let's hope Wong is ok.
  8. Topa had a grand total of 7.2 IP last year. I agree he looked great but clearly small sample alert. This spring, he has a 8.31 ERA with a 2.0 WHIP in 4.1 IP. Again small sample alert, but can you truly say he "clearly much better than the competition". If its Zimmerman over Topa then Blah, I agree. But H. Milner or Blain Hardy would be acceptable alternatives. I think I would still prefer Topa but I'm not sure its all that clear cut.
  9. The Brewers really had no true SS for AAA this year. In the short term, Turang will likely play SS for Alternate training camp. When AAA starts it could be a rotation of Reyes and Jace though that would be pretty ugly. It would not surprise me for them to pick up a true SS for AAA.
  10. This is code for "we have discussed him and he is not going to make the team." Of course they discussed him but they don't want to trash him in the media.
  11. I just got a flyer in the mail for this today. This is not too bad of an option. Adambr2: If I may ask, it looks like there is a box/remote that you need to buy with this. $120 to buy or $5/month for 24months. It also says you can have 3 concurrent streams at one time. So I dont understand, Do you need a box for each Tv you want to watch it on? Are there any other hidden fees. Sorry for the questions. Just am very careful after my experience with Spectrum over the years.
  12. https://twitter.com/JMontana41/with_repliesPer his twitter account, he is blaming Josh Kusnick
  13. Wahl has 1 option left. He has looked good so far but I doubt he makes the OD roster. He will be up this year plenty though.
  14. Let me see if I can sum up the offseason. Our biggest need was a 1B and 3B. So naturally we instead signed a second 2B and moved our first 2B to 1B. Then signed a second gold glove CF and will not play him every day but instead will rotate him among the three other OFs. Which leaves us to 3B, which will likely be filled by our second SS. Makes sense. Stearns is definitely an orignal.
  15. Well, this is an upgrade over McKinney or Fischer on the roster for sure. That just seems like a lot of money for our 4th starting OF. I would have preferred a guy like LaStella instead as he would make a greater impact on the lineup (replacing Shaw or Urias against righties is a better than replacing Cain or Garcia). I see no need for McKinney or Fischer now so one of the two will likely be cleared to make room for Bradley. Not sure how Taylor makes OD now either. I am really pulling for him as he could be a good bench bat.

  17. Sorry. Edited my post. Detroit signed him. Yea, the Brewers signing him would be much worse
  18. Wily Peralta gets a minor league contract with Detroit worth $1.5M & $300k of incentives. How does a guy with his poor track record get that kind of money?
  19. Agreed, why do people think that the Brewers cannot do a contract like this? They literally just did this last year with Yelich. 9 years and $215M is an average of $24M/year and locks him up until he is 37. Tatis has an AAV of $24M and is locked up until he is 36. I get its overall more $ but that's because he's younger... Its still locking them both up until their late 30s. The Brewers have shown they can offer contracts like this.
  20. What I like about this bullpen construction is the number of players that can be optioned to create flexibility. Bettinger, Bickford, Feyereisen, File, Lauer, Peralta, Perdomo, Rassmussen, Suter, Topa, Wahl, Wiliams, and Yardley. Even with the longer required stay in the minors rule, they have a lot of players they can shuffle.
