  1. Coulter now has an OPS greater than Michael Reed. Reed is the definition of "Needs a change of scenery". He is likely #40 on our 40 man roster.
  2. I cannot recall in all the years I've watched the Brewers them having as deep of a bench as right now. Aguilar comes off the bench and fills the 3rd spot in the lineup. Sogard needs to find a way into the lineup. Perez has been solid and can fill in anywhere. The two catchers are both killing the ball. Nice problem the brewers have. Counsell can start filling out the lineup card with his eyes closed.
  3. I'm not much of a believer in Sogard and fully expect his stats to fall off, but the Brewers need to find a way to get his bat in the lineup until he cools off. He is on an incredible streak.
  4. I'm ready for some changes. Need some RP's who wont walk so much. Replace Hughes and/or Drake with Espino, Wilkerson, or Archer.
  5. Betancourt has really come on in the last month. His OPS is over 1.000 in the last 28 days and for the season is now at .766. Those numbers are better than Dubon. I know he was a high prospect for a very poor Detroit farm system but what do we really have here. Is his upside a starter or just a very good utility man? That 2015 trade of K-rod for Pina and Betancourt is looking pretty good right now.
  6. We have an 8 man bullpen and a 3 man bench (with Pina out). I'm sure the Brewers wanted to make sure Guerra was ok before they sent an arm down, but I would think a move to get another hitter up is coming soon. Which reliever do you think will be leaving. Is Feliz experiment finally done? I think Hughes has an option left and he gives up too many baserunners Torres, Scahill, and Barnes have pitched well of late. Drake gives up a ton of baserunners (1.7 WHIP!), but I think they want to get a longer look at him. His K numbers are impressive.
  7. Nelson has been very inconsistent this year. Either he gives up 1 or 2 runs or is blown out. I don't know which Nelson will show up. Which is why I have no confidence in him. Garza has been more consistent. Its still early yet.
  8. The only SP I have confidence in right now is Garza... I can't believe I said that.
  9. Hader I totally agree. Woodruff I think needs to stay in the rotation and should be in the MLB rotation sometime this season. I'd say Hader and Lopez. Maybe Taylor Williams although he needs to get his walks down. Hader as well but I give him a pass at CS.
  10. Shaw has been steadily good all year. The offense really has been solid. I really underestimated Perez. Does he have the ability to keep this up? The speed and power he has is impressive.
  11. Its for 10 days. It wont hurt the player or impact service time. I'm just saying there is an argument for calling up a prospect for a short period. He will be going doing when Braun returns but the experience would be useful. I get that the Brewers are going to show patience here. Us fans are less patient. Probably a good thing we are not in charge.
  12. So who is our future closer? Is it Knebel in the near and long term? The Brewers are not grooming anyone in the minors based on stats this year. Will it be a failed starter? Who has the stuff in the minors that would make a good closer? Hader? Taylor Williams? F. Peralta? Supak?
  13. Sogard is just a journeyman fill-in, but he is easy to root for. And having a great game tonight. However, I was hoping to see a 10 day preview of a future prospect. Even if the prospect sat for most of the time, it would have been useful to get the jitters out and a taste of the big leagues.
  14. I do miss Brian Anderson. I was ok with Lepay at the start but he has shown a lack of Brewers knowledge. The Coulter comment was just the latest thing (and no, I really dont think he was just trying to be a homer - I dont think he bothered to look up his stats). Not that Anderson is all that great, just better than Lepay
  15. How much longer do we need to listen to Lepay. He just said what a great prospect Clint Coulter and how well he is doing this year. Said he is now at "AA"! (even though he has been there for three years now). I'm glad Coulter is on a 4 game tear, but to say he is doing "well" is just completely uninformed.
  16. I think it will be Brinson. This is a short term callup. Why not bring up your top prospect? He'll go back down when Braun returns so no issue to his Super 2 status.
  17. How about the $1mil is used for Tommy Millone free parking night. Parking is getting really expensive at MP
  18. All of our relievers have BB/9 rates greater than 4. They have been awful. I wonder how much longer Stearns is going to give these guys. I'd love to see what Lopez could do in the bullpen. Taylor Williams is another guy I think would excel in the bullpen this year.
  19. I have to think that Nick Franklin's days are numbered. They could bring up Cordell and still have flexibility with his ability to play 3b. Of the three AAA OF, I'd be ok putting Cordell on the ML bench with spot starts a few times a week.
  20. Wasn't the PTBNL suppose to be named yesterday? I guess we should hear something today
  21. I would think Harrison, Gatewood, and maybe I.Diaz, Neuhaus would get promotions. Maybe T.Clark, Ray, or Stokes (AA needs some OF help) if they pick it up a bit. The pitchers are really shining though. There are really too many candidates to list. It depends on how many go to the majors to make room for promotions. Hader and Woodruff could (should) go to the rotation. Lopez and T.Williams at AA could jump over AAA and go to the bullpen if there are no more rotation spots. I like the idea of Williams going to the bullpen to limit his innings and then contend for a rotation spot next year.
  22. Stearns is using this last one or two spots in the bullpen differently than we have seen in years past. He is claiming older AAAA relievers without options remaining and using them interchangeably. Goforth gets called up to fill a need for a week and then he gets waived. If someone picks him up or he leaves, oh well. He can find another guy like that. He keeps trying different guys to see what sticks. He did this a lot last year and a few have stuck, like Torres, Marinez. Drake may be one this year (nice K rate but WHIP is terrible). However, if they don't produce, they will be gone. I think Marinez is likely the next one on the chopping block. He'll continue to do this once the prospects, who will have options, start coming up.
  23. I never understood that argument. Was Milone in the minors being stretched out to start? No. He was our long man, who could give us a start in a pinch. Between now and June, Lopez could fill that role. I'm sure he would maintain his "strechiness" for at least a month. If we need a starter after June, we will have Hader, Woodruff, Guerra, Ortiz, T. Williams (or even Wilkerson, Espino, Burgos) that we could use. I think it would be useful to get a few of the lower prospect pitchers to the ML bullpen to see what they can do. If we decide he needs to be stretched out he could always be sent to the minors later once the rest of the crop gets called up. Its been a long time since we have had this many pitching prospects close to the majors. It would be nice to see as many of them as we can. Not all of them will be able to start.
  24. I would have rather they brought up Lopez instead of Scahill. Nothing against Scahill but its time to see what Lopez can do. He has dominated AA and it looks like the Brewers will avoid CS for him so why not bring him up to relieve?
