  1. Odd pickup. He is 30 and his OPS in the independent league was below 700. And he's another utility IF. Meanwhile the AAA team has no obvious 1B or OF for today's game.
  2. Yah. He does not have a baseball name. I like Kiwi though.
  3. Top prospects struggle all the time. Take Byron Buxton of the Twins. Was a top 10 prospect in all of baseball, killed it in the minors and now is in year 3 and still struggling in the majors. I'll take Broxton at 750 OPS.
  4. Agree. Thank you. Awww. I was hoping for more baby goat videos.
  5. Its surprising to me that Baltimore is not more active in international signing. This is the second trade DS has made with them for international bonus money. Magnifico trade was the first. Keep it up DS!
  6. Cooper is hitting cleanup in AAA so looks like the Cubs broadcasters got it wrong.
  7. Looking forward to the next community list. I was just looking at my list and I am having a hard time keeping it to a top 40 let alone top 25. I don't have any recent draftees past round 3 in the top 40. Impressive depth in the org!
  8. York released? There is a story there that needs to be told. He seemed to have the potential to be a fast mover thru the org.
  9. I think this is an indication that the Brewers are willing to expand the payroll this year. I assume Vogt made it through waivers up to the Brewers because of his remaining salary. $2M is a lot to pay for a backup C who has not hit well this year, but the Brewers can afford it. Maybe they can make some other upgrades without impacting the minors by picking up expensive veterans that other teams don't want. For what its worth, Vogt has 2 more years of control and then is a FA in 2020.
  10. What does everyone think of Wendell Rijo. Out of all these posts, YoungGeezy was the only one to list him. He was a top 20 Red Sox prospect before we got him. He now seems to be fighting Allemand and Ortega for ABs. He has a decent OBP but his AVG and SLG are low but it is hard to rate him based on so few ABs. Has he been hurt? Why cant he get more playing time? P.S. kind of fun re-reading this list from the beginning of the season.
  11. Who holds the record for most K/game at any point during the season, not just from the start of the year?
  12. While the list may seem long, I could easily see 10 players who could be let go at the end of the year to make room for prospects: Cravy, Drake, Espino, Franklin, Garza, Houser, Hughes, Jungman, W.Peralta, and M. Reed. I see us protecting the following: Sure thing: Dubon, F. Peralta, Nottingham (defense has improved) Possible: Archer, Wang, Cooper, A. Ventura, N. Ramirez (the last two to avoid FA) Its still early yet, so some players may improve and show the need for us to protect them. However, It seems reasonable that we can protect whatever prospects we need.
  13. Considering they have Dillard still on the AAA roster, I dont think Peralta would be taking anyone's spot. Heck, I'd rather have Peralta over Goforth or Kohlscheen. I hope this is what they do because I cannot watch Peralta pitch right now.
  14. Maybe Feliz is coming back. I heard he was available.
  15. Monty, Good writeup. I like your perspective. Its easy forget that a full season for a RP can be considered a small sample. 1/3 of a season is really a small sample. So, the question remains, when do you pull the trigger to replace a RP? I think this is where you need to use all the data available: Scouting, secondary / advanced statistics, Manager feedback to evaluate the RP. Its probably why the Brewers have not made rash decisions in the Bullpen. I'm not sure I totally agree with how patient the Brewers have been. The risk is low in losing a player. I'd have to say Torres, Scahill, Drake, Peralta, Hughes are all interchangeable with Blazek, Cravy, Ramsey, Wilkerson, Espino. If you lose a couple due to waivers, so be it. Plus we have prospects that we will need to start making room for.
  16. Likely Espino was up just to make sure we were covered if the game goes into extra innings. I'm assuming he goes right back down to AAA. Suter probably goes down as well for Garza. Maybe they get rid of some of the dead weight in the bullpen but I doubt it.
  17. All of a sudden our AAA pitching depth is depleted. CS is down to 9 pitchers, although Espino or Suter will likely be returned after the doubleheader today. Still, glad we did not release 3-4 ML relievers as some had hoped, otherwise we would be really short staffed. They currently have 21 players on the AAA roster. I would expect Wilkerson and a couple other AA pitchers to be getting the call to AAA soon. Maybe Derby, Snow, Ventura, or Ramsey?
  18. I have to believe the plan was to keep Woodruff up for the rest of the year. Calling him up just to burn an option to send him down does not seem very smart. Now with the hamstring issue, maybe they DL him. We shall see...
  19. I was hoping for a pitcher but they are such high risk so not too upset. If he goes underslot and that allows us to sign someone later, this will be a great move. Is there a Harold Reynolds filter on my TV? I cant listen to that guy.
  20. Espino can. Even though he was just sent down, he can be called up within the 10 days for the 26th man of a doubleheader.
  21. Chase has the 6th best ERA in the NL! Nelson just outside the top 10
  22. Knebel, Barnes, and Torres are tied for the league lead in games. These guys are going to be worn out if this continues. maybe a Wilkerson callup could be used to pitch multiple innings so we dont have to call on these guys so oftern
  23. yeah, its time to make a change. other pitchers to consider for callup are Espino, who can just stay up after his spot start, and Aaron Wilkerson. the bullpen needs some RP who don't walk so many batters.
  24. Using Drake as a lefty specialist is definitely a non-conventional role. Taylor Williams has slowly gotten his BB/9 to below 4. Still has a way to go but he may make for a good setup man for this year. The Brewers are trying to keep his innings down this year after missing the last two to injury. Come late July/August, it might be worth a try to put him on MLB bullpen to keep the innings down. He has the stuff to be a great setup man. He can then go into 2018 with a chance to make the rotation.
  25. Davies now has a sub 5 ERA. The rest of the rotation is sub 4. They just need to shore up middle relief now...
