Beachy is a good pitcher. He Ks 10.4 per 9 innings, so we're going to see a lot of strikeouts today. The Brewers are 1st in the league in HRs and 4th in runs scored. The pitching and defense should be getting a lot more of the blame for the losing record so far, despite the 2-1 loss yesterday. -

They showed him at least 2 other times out on the mound picking at his hand. It doesn't seem to be affecting him today.

I'd be curious to know how often Bourn scores after leading off the inning by getting on base. It's no small feat for Marcum to work out of the inning without giving up that run.

I was thinking the same thing about Ramirez. No, I don't think he could have reached that grounder,but the fact that he just stopped running after it was annoying. He didn't really need to make it back to 3rd base that urgently. I'm having trouble figuring out if he is really, really slow or just lazy.

Gamel has redeemed himself with the basehits and the two defensive plays. Alex Gonzalez gets the ball to second base insanely quick on a double play.

That should have been an easy play for Gamel, it wasn't even that hard hit.

It's still really early, but what I like so far is his hussle. He's running out grounders and stretching that extra inch on defensive putouts to first. He looks more motivated than in the past now that 1st base is all his. Hopefully he keeps it up. -
