  1. I watched most of the press conference this morning and I truly believe that Ozzie didn't know what he was saying. It was an off the cuff statement that he obviously didn't think would matter anymore than his comments about gays or Hugo Chavez. Sometimes people say things when they don't understand the implications and that's what Ozzie was doing. He's done it in the past and I forgive him because I know he doesn't know what he speaks about. If I were the Marlins I would have gone with a slightly longer suspension, but I think it's punishment enough that Ozzie will never be able to walk the streets of Miami without people referencing these comments.
  2. ESPN showed a few signs at Wrigley specific to Braun including a "Not guilty =/= Innocent". I think the boos will slowly die down as the year moves on.
  3. http://www.millerparkdrunk.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/mat-gamel.jpg What about here?
  4. Gutsy call, but Gamel is safe by a mile and now RR doesn't have to decide if he will PH for Marcum.
  5. I wonder if Morgan wasn't looking away as that ball was hit. A three base error is really inexcusable. EDIT: I guess it's scored a triple, which is crazy.
  6. OK Marcum. One more strikeout and you're an out away from making Nyjer's day.
  7. I think Prince got his fair share of ridicule in the IGT for his defense. He was ripped on for being too short, too slow and bad at scooping the ball. Yuni was mostly hated for his terrible range. A-Gon has better much better range and it should become obvious as the season goes on. The error earlier was a low throw, but it was right on line. An MLB 1st baseman needs to make that play. Gamel knew it, if you saw him cursing at himself after the inning ended.
  8. Marcum is on a 90 pitch limit... He's looked pretty good besides the HRs. He had to throw a few extra pitches because of the error, and he's still only at 42 through 3 innings.
  9. Rickie. Don't blink or you'll miss his homerun. I bet neither of the starters make it to the 6th.
  10. I came here to comment on the wind. There are going to be some runs scored in this game.
  11. Gamel doesn't have the credibility that Hart, Ramirez or Weeks has. Each of those guys is proven on the Major League level as 30 HR players. Gamel hasn't proven anything on the major league level. In the 2 ABs that I saw Gamel today, I'm pretty sure he struck out in the minimum amount of pitches. People shouldn't be getting worked up about Gamel getting pulled as part of a double switch. He's still the everyday starter, it was just a move that made sense today.
  12. Although I've never used it, Orlistat is an OTC product that works by inhibiting the absorption of fat from the diet. Several studies have shown its effectiveness, and of course you would want to use it while making healthy lifestyle adjustments.
  13. This will be the first game of the year I can watch. Go Crew!! Congrats to Prince Fielder who just got his 1,000th hit.
  14. Does anyone know where to get up to closer updates? I hate missing out when a new closer gets named early in the season.
  15. Glacier National Park. End of discussion. I also really like pitchleagues Utah destinations. I'm a very outdoor oriented vacationer. What time of year are you going?
  16. From the perspective of a Brewers fan who has seen a revolving door of catchers since the turn of the millenium (*cough* Johnny Estrada), it's nice to have Lucroy cost controlled for the next 5 years. It certainly wasn't necessary, but if Lucroy turns into Mario Mendoza at the plate tomorrow, losing $11 million over 5 years isn't the end of the world. On the other hand, Lucroy still has the potential to outperform this contract and the fangraphs article points out some of his more hidden talents.
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJqm8ybv4Uw&feature=player_embedded I was hoping it would be more flashy.
  18. It seemed like last year the Brewers had a lot less injuries than the other clubs in the central. Besides Greinke's DL stint at the beginning of the year, the rotation was healthy and productive for the entire year. I could see the Brewers repeating this year, but not without a little good luck in the health department again. I think a lot of sportswriters have a hard time seeing past the loss of Fielder when they are making their predictions.
  19. I would assume he grew up as a Mariner's fan, but I wonder if he had a connection to the Blue Jays too since they've been the only team in Canada for a while now.
