  1. I thought this was the year that MVP baseball was coming back? Maybe EA is waiting for the next generation consoles. Also, Far Cry 3 is pretty fun. I describe it as Call of Duty meets Assassin's Creed meets Grand Theft Auto in the jungle.
  2. I don't think enough people saw "The Master". Joaquin Phoenix is brilliant in that film. Better than Daniel Day Lewis dare I say. In fact, I think "The Master" is better than all the other best picture nominees and I have seen them all. It should be nominated in a lot more categories. One thing I really like this year, is all the love that Michael Haneke is getting. It is way overdue for him. I can't wait to watch.
  3. I agree that this still isn't enough to suspend Braun, but I wouldn't doubt it if MLB took a "fool me once" approach with Braun at this point. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that he was using PEDs, MLB just needs to tie it all together. I really wouldn't doubt it if Braun ends up suspended to start the year. Clearly new information is still coming out.
  4. I don't have the energy to go through this again. Someone pm me when he is or is not suspended.
  5. I'm 30 and this is the first time I've ever said to myself "I'm finally disconnected with the youth musically". Every post in this thread reads like that. I've tried to listen to various "musicians" producing this style of music and it just doesn't inspire me. I'm happy for the kids who are having a good time listening to it, and I know a lot of people who have converted to this style of music, but for me it just seems funny to be crammed in a room staring at a guy with a laptop waiting for a drop. I remember an older generation saying similar things when I was growing up with grunge and then with hip hop. Now I'm the old guy.
  6. Yes, $48,000 is correct. My brother, who is 24 years old, has gone a long time without brushing, going to a dentist, drinking MASS amounts of Mountain Dew and chewing regularly for 5 years. You have to understand that his teeth are rotted to stubs and he won't get work done unless he is put under, which is additionally expensive. He is going to get a second opinion. Mountain Dew is a terrible product. EDIT: I want to add that I am the exact opposite of my brother in this respect. I won't drink soda unless it's with a fast food meal. I brush and floss twice a day and use whitening products on a regular basis. I was even arrested one time for stealing a tube of Rembrandt Extra Whitening toothpaste from a grocery store because it was $9 a tube and I was a broke college kid (no joke, put it under my avatar). I don't know how two brothers can be so opposite when it comes to dental hygiene.
  7. Are these tacos actually good or is it more for the novelty of the whole thing?
  8. I'm going to quote my post from 2010. I've come to find out that my brother now has $48,000 worth of dental work coming his way. I don't know exactly how much is to blame on his Mountain Dew habit, but you can bet it's a lot. His teeth have almost literally rotted away.
  9. Anything with Norm Macdonald in it. I still don't understand why there is no "Best of Norm Macdonald". It's even hard to find his non-update stuff online. Here he is on Jeopardy: http://www.hulu.com/watch/12203
  10. Last year when Prince didn't ask Justin Upton to be in the HR derby, that was a snub. Ryan Braun is better off not doing the HR derby this year in my opinion. Let him rebuild his reputation a little bit longer.
  11. I really liked the finale. I like the ending that suggested to me that Don might be going back to his man whoring ways. It will be interesting to see where the writers take Peggy's storyline. I would really like to see her competing aggressively against Don. I didn't really like how Pete's affair ended. It seemed like sort of a copout. And I agree with you bullox, what Joan did to become partner is pretty disgraceful and I'm not sure how everyone can just let it go like it was no big deal. Am I overreacting on that? Her character is probably the last one on the show that I would have suspected of agreeing to something like she did.
  12. In my opinion one of the best TV series ever produced. I've watched it through 3 times and I'll probably watch it again at some point. For me it has become sort of a measuring stick for all other TV series, which is almost unfair since it's closer to a really long movie than traditional programming.
  13. The ending to the last episode was really fitting with Don and Sally's friend's dialog in the elevator, and then Don letting him drive his car home. I can't say why, but it really touched me. Two frustrated guys doing everything right, but constantly encountering obstacles. I sort of thought that this was the season finale. I can't wait to see what they have in mind for next week.
  14. Pedroia and Zobrist would still be in arbitrations years if they hadn't signed extensions. And as far as Kinsler goes, get back to me in 2018 when he's 36 and making $12M. I don't see this as more than extended slump in a year where Rickie's numbers were likely to decline anyway. Is there a reason to think that Rickie's numbers so far this season should be predictive of his future performance? I would think that his career numbers would be a better indicator of what's to be expected. Also, it's hard for me to believe that someone else on the roster can put up comparable numbers to Rickie at the position.
  15. I feel like I used to have more tolerance for watching losing baseball. I've been spoiled in recent years. The season is young and our pitching can't stay this bad all year. Can it?
  16. The Brewers have to win tomorrow right, because this sure seems like a low point.
  17. The called strikes against Lawrie from the umpire were just terrible. 4 games seems about right, if not a little low. Helmets are oddly shaped objects that can bounce in any direction. I think Lawrie wanted to startle the umpire to show his frustration, but I don't think he had any intention of hitting him. I hope it's not a continued pattern for him.
  18. Pujols has put up MVP type numbers for 11 straight years and now it's the hitting coach's fault that he's off to a slow start. How can Mickey Hatcher be a scapegoat when there is no one that believes that he has anything to do with Pujols' struggles.
  19. I stumbled upon this "free chorizo" t-shirt while ebay searching for chorizo. Funny stuff.
  20. It's interesting that Yount is #45 and Molitor #46. Who would you vote for if they went head to head?
  21. Does MLB have to cite a reason for firing Das? I would like to hear them try and explain this. I just wonder how much is related to the Eliezer Alfonzo case. Is MLB afraid that Ryan Braun has opened the flood gates for "chain of custody" and other procedural objections. Maybe they think the only way to restore order is to find a new arbiter to set a new precedent.
  22. Did anyone not see that K coming? Brooks Conrad is not a good hitter.
