  1. Quentin is so unpredictable with his injuries, I don't blame the Sox for getting a return on him with one year of control left. They have a few young options to take over RF.
  2. Skyrim has taken over my life. I did 120 hours on my first character and now I'm on my second. The game is addictive.
  3. That's not going to be enough to bring him over. How much was he earning in Japan?
  4. Huh, I was living in Billings while he was calling Mustang games, but I never tuned in. Congrats Mr. Block and good luck. I trust the Brewers to pick the right guy.
  5. Yes use it. I lost my Sony mp3 a few months ago. I didn't have any identifying marks on it to let anyone know it was mine, so I didn't really expect to get it back. If I knew that the person who found my Sony mp3 did everything that you did to try and find me, I would be very impressed and be happy to them keep it. I would suggest posting in the craiglist lost and found section, but after 2 and 1/2 months, I doubt the owner is even still looking for it. BTW - Everyone should remember to put their information on all their personal devices. That's the lesson I learned.
  6. It seems like when Nolan Ryan says something to the media he usually means it.
  7. That's more money than they offered CJ Wilson for a FA contract. The Rangers must be really sure of Yu's ability or really sure of Wilson's decline.
  8. I think you're kidding yourself if you think juiced balls had more of an impact on baseball numbers than steroids. How do you explain guys with 1 or 2 standout years towards the end of their careers, the Brady Andersons out there? How do explain Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds? All you have to do is look at their physique. And what about the anomalous pitching performance during these years (Gagne)? I don't think steroids ever really left baseball, I just think the players started getting smarter about using and about not looking overly built. I don't want to get too opinionated on Braun specifically without knowing exactly what happened, but it wouldn't surprise me if he had been using his whole career. People continue to post about how Braun had nothing to gain by juicing and I think this is way off base. Baseball players have everything to gain by bettering their performance. Records, MVPs, and multi-million dollar contracts. This is why you can't put too much blame on the players. If you could take an illegal drug and perform better at your job, would you do it? Would you do it if it meant you could make $100 million dollars? The thing that really bothers me the most about steroids is that it takes away the level playing field.

  10. Yeah right. I don't have the banned substance list in front of me, but I highly doubt any anti-viral meds are on the list. I also doubt having the herpes virus would cause a positive test.
  11. I agree with your most plausible explanation, but a lot of information still has yet to come out. Braun's people might be saying that Braun inadvertently used a product that was a banned substance, which caused these "insanely high" testosterone measurements. (They have hinted that he used something) Then upon shipment to WADA the "chain of custody" defense could be used to argue that someone may have spiked the sample with an exogenous testosterone. It all sounds far fetched, because it is, but it does fit together with almost all of these random statements that have come out.
  12. Between Braun's test, Greinke's agent and 3 years of A-Ram, this news makes me the happy. I love Casey like the rest of you and wish him well, but there was just too much going on at 3rd base and I can't really see McGehee in for much of a bounce back season. Veras is someone and that's usually better than no one.
  13. Even if Braun is super, highest testosterone ever guilty, I still can't wrap my head around him wanting this to be public information if there is even a slight chance that something with the samples would exonerate him. If he wanted to expose a bad testing system, why not just wait for MLB's decision and then lay out your defense to the public. At this point Braun's quote for the newspapers is, "It's BS". The details are very murky and he's not coming off looking very good.
  14. Funny, I was just thinking the same thing. If you take a step back, that seems a lot more likely considering MLB has never leaked one before. It would be a terrible idea for Braun's people to leak this story. Once it becomes public, it becomes that much harder for MLB to overturn it. As someone mentioned earlier, it becomes a slippery slope once MLB overturns even one case of a positive test. If they overturn this, then people can start going back and looking at other failed tests and questioning them. In a lot (if not most) of the previous positive tests, the accused have claimed innocence. As Jimmy Rollins hinted, there may have been overturned results in the past that MLB has kept quiet. As soon as these results became public, Braun loses a big chance of getting them overturned.
  15. So the whole ESPN story about elevated and exogenous testosterone is now false? I'm confused.
  16. If you are going to use the "It wasn't supposed to be in the supplement" argument, there is a lot to prove The excuse Palmeiro used when he was caught was that he never intentionally took any product that he knew was a banned substance. The MLB along with NSF has an ever growing list of supplements that the players need to stay away from because of the risk of a false positive. NSF also certifies and sells products to teams which they have approved as not triggering a false positive. If a player finds a supplement that is not approved by NSF and is not on the list of banned supplements, it is up to the player to get approval through NSF before taking the supplement. In other words, there is almost no wiggle room for the "I unknowingly ingested a product that contained an exogenous testosterone" excuse. If Braun did take an NSF approved supplement with synthetic testosterone, he would need to have that supplement LOT number tested and come back positive in order to be exonerated. This would have surely already been done if that was the suspicion. There are too many conflicting reports to figure out what is really going on with Braun's samples at this point. Was it Braun's "B" sample that came back negative, or was it a completely different sample that came back negative. And if it was a new sample, what are the reasons for needing that second sample? Why has it taken so long to complete this process? When McGwire said he wasn't prepared to talk about the past, I laughed. When Sammy Sosa forgot english, I laughed. When Manny Ramirez took his vacation to Spain after the second failed test, I laughed. Now that Braun is put in a similar awkward position I can only hope that he is proven not guilty, but it certainly doesn't look good.
  17. Does anyone know why CAA can't divulge the specifics of Braun's test, which they clearly know? If Braun really is innocent, wouldn't it be in his best interest for his agent to come out and explain in full detail what exactly is going on as soon as possible? obsessedwithbrewcrew - You have to step off the ledge buddy. Even if the worst is true, the Brewers will be Braunless for only 50 games. The franchise will go on. He's just an athlete trying to be the best, like all the rest.
  18. The better question is how do you get synthetic testosterone into your body? It sounds like he tested at more than 4 times the average level and then subsequent tests revealed that the testosterone was synthetic. No OTC product on the market is proven to elevate testosterone and there is certainly no OTC product which provides synthetic testosterone. He would have to have been prescribed a product such as Androgel, and to legally be taking a synthetic hormone requires league approval before use. Needless to say, this doesn't look good for Braun or the Brewers.
  19. This obviously looks really bad for Braun and is terrible for the team. I hope he takes a page out of his own book and comes clean. I wonder if this doesn't stem from working out with Gabe Kapler.
  20. Don't most dental procedures that require antibiotics usually use an oral Amoxicillin? A prescription for 28 Amoxicillin will run you about $10. What is special about the procedure that you need an injection of anitbiotics? Fluoride is not present in all tap water, only water which is fluoridated. Fluoride is most critical in children under 16 years of age to prevent dental caries. Adults usually get enough fluoride from toothpaste and mouth rinses. If you need additional fluoride, consider buying an OTC rinse or gel.
  21. According to Tim Kurkjian on ESPN it sounds like the Red Sox really want Sveum too and might try and better the Cubs offer. I really like Sveum and I'll be sad to see him go, but I never thought he had a chance as a 1st year manager of these big market teams. Is there finally a shift away from the good 'ol boys/old school managers?
  22. Yup. I don't have time for any game right now and especially Skyrim. I'm going to wait until Christmas time when I have a few weeks off. I'm excited for it and I'll be watching a lot of reviews.....if they ever come out.
  23. Have you ever seen the unedited cut of Mallrats? Kevin Smith was forced to cut out about 30 minutes of footage that he wanted to keep in the movie. While it makes sense for the plot, the full length version of Mallrats is almost unwatchably boring and a lot less funny. You have to keep the jokes flowing fast, especially in more shallow comedy movies or it just doesn't work.
  24. That HR carousel is amazing. I can't help but look at it with a huge grin on my face. It's simply entrancing. I can't wait to see it go off on opening day. But I still refuse to believe that those are actually the uniforms. They are so terrible and the old logo was bad enough. Where do Marlins fans need to turn to get a hat that they can wear in public? EDIT: Here is a link to the webcam of the stadium build.
  25. That's pretty funny. Maybe if he changed his batting stance.....
