  1. I'm on a cable package out of state and to get MLB Network for me would be an additional $9.95 per month. I just called on it this morning. Maybe come March.
  2. Kraft shredded Mexican style taco cheese is not good. It was on sale.
  3. You have to love a pitcher that can hit a little bit. Wolf is a quality pitcher. He was in the top ten in the NL last year in WHIP (1.10), BAA (.227), OBP (.285), SLG (.375), OPS (.660), and Quality Starts (24). If he can come close to those numbers again this year and avoids injury, he will be a nice addition. I just hope DM isn't done yet and can trade for another SP or sign a high risk/high reward type SP to a 1 year deal.
  4. I would stay away from Giles all together. Corey Hart is 4 years younger than Church, has better numbers against RHP than Church and is a far better baserunner than Church, which wOBA doesn't take into account. I don't think there is a need to bring him in to platoon. Corey just had a down year and is capable of putting up another 20/20 season in 2010. Unless DM is enticed to trade Hart for some pitching I would hang on to him and start him everyday.
  5. He is 64 years old and only a few years removed from a brain aneurysm. Maybe he is just settling into a less stressful position elsewhere. Speaking as someone who doesn't get the MLB Network, he will be missed on Baseball Tonight.
  6. I can't believe that the DBacks would part with Scherzer who is under control for 5 years and developing into a #1 or #2 type starter. He's not worth Jackson and Kennedy in my opinion. Is there anyway to justify this for the Arizona?
  7. It's -18 here in Montana at 10am. And that's without the wind, which is blowing briskly. I'm cold.
  8. I don't fully understand how the seeding works. Can someone explain how England can be ranked #9 and still be a top seed?
  9. Do I understand correctly that if you hit the ball under the seats, it's a homerun, but if you hit it off the front of the bleachers it's still in play? That's going to cause some frustration.
  10. You're not the only one. I tried to show this to several other people and they thanked me for wasting their time. The Girlfriend Experience and Bubble are both arthouse films by Steven Soderbergh where he takes people who normally aren't actors and places them in very real life stories. Watching these films you feel sort of like you are getting an in depth look into another persons private life. They leave it up to the viewer on how to interpret the characters and whether to like them or hate them. Most hollywood movies are very structured with a hero and a villain, a plot, a climax, an end. Soderbergh shows in these movies that you don't need obvious devices to engage the audience. I love both of these films and I'm kind of shocked that they didn't at least get more critical acclaim, but I can understand why people don't like them. Soderbergh is due to release 4 (I think) more of these types of films and I can't wait.
  11. I liked the '90's much better. Here are my favorites from what I've seen and what I can remember....... 1. There Will Be Blood 2. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 3. No Country for Old Men 4. Amelie 5. Cache 6. 4 Months 3 Weeks 2 Days 7. Snatch 8. Royal Tenenbaums 9. Memento 10. Bubble/Girlfriend Experience Runners Up: Adaptation, Cinderella Man, The Lives of Others, The Wrestler, Napoleon Dynamite, Wall-E, Donnie Darko, Punch Drunk Love, City of God
  12. I'm replaying Mass Effect 1 as an Adept in preparation for Mass Effect 2. The decisions that you made in the first game will carry over to the second one (release date 1/26). I forgot how addictive the game is.
  13. If it makes you feel any better it looks like one of the voters didn't vote for Howard at all. It seems that you can never please anybody with the results of the MVP voting..........well maybe Jeremy Affeldt.
  14. Don't forget Manny Ramirez or Brad Hawpe. There are plenty of bad defenders in the NL that would make this list before Braun. Adam Dunn. Here's a link to Braun's snow angel catch in St. Louis.
  15. He makes one good point. I understand being skeptical about some new statistics, for instance fielding metrics, but it baffles me that people so close to the game can't see past wins and losses for a pitcher.
  16. Tube City FTW
  17. I think what hurts Utley is that he doesn't make any really flashy plays that make Sportcenter. Also, he made a couple of nationally televised defensive mistakes early in the playoffs.
  18. http://images.yuku.com/image/png/c9d353e39d8482d662aeccd33714043db48f73b.png
  19. I'm always impressed by your interviews. Great job. It's nice to hear Spivey's high praise for DM. He did build a playoff team for the Crew.
  20. This is what you get when you use Bill James' 2010 projections in the Lineup Analysis tool. Weeks Fielder Salome Braun Gamel Gomez Escobar Hart Pitcher 5.110 Runs
  21. I don't think there is anyway you can trade Gamel without a really good offer. McGehee had a great year this past year and his trade value is probably as high as it's going to be right now. Other GMs might be weary of a fluke season and bad knees, but he is still young and the Brewers have a 3rd baseman in Mat Gamel. Gamel hits left handed and still boasts an .862 career minor league OPS compared to McGehee's .741. If Gamel is not a Brewer, then it makes sense to keep McGehee, but right now there are other utility options. Give Gamel a shot at a full time gig.
  22. Small sample? Also, I think it's smart to pitch away from Howard in most situations when you have Werth on deck, even as good as Werth is. It seems to me like Howard has been striking out swinging a lot on pitches out of the zone.
  23. Deja Vous. I voted excellent for Maui and poor for everyone else. Maui is in 3rd.
  24. Lesson #1 for the Cardinal hitters: Steroids is bad. Don't do 'em.
  25. What's ironic for me is that the NBA is fixing these games to bring in a larger audience, but the 2001 Eastern Conference Finals was when I gave up watching the NBA, because of the blatant fixing.
