  1. Concerning Guillen, it could have something to do with the fact that Posnanski sees Guillen play a lot more often than other players on his list. Similar to how us Brewer fans want to see Suppan or Soriano higher on the list. It stings a little more when you have to witness Suppan throwing up meatballs every 5th game first hand.
  2. Haha. He ruined 3 years of MNF for me that I can never have back. I like him in other formats though and will be checking out his podcast.
  3. You guys won yesterday, so that's two in a row. If you win again tomorrow, that's called a winning streak. IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.
  4. Bosio was interviewed pre-game and asked to comment on Gallardo's pitch count. He said, "Ideally we would like Yo to go 7 innings on 90 pitches." I assumed that meant that they were limiting Yo to 90 pitches, but apparently that's not the case.
  5. The Brewers have 6 runs on 7 hits thus far. 3 from Counsell, 2 from Kendall, and 1 from Escobar and Gerut.
  6. As an announcer Dibble is not that great, but I enjoyed him while he was on MLB XM 175 with Kevin Kennedy. Both of them are not at all statistically versed, but when it came to behind the scenes baseball information or old baseball stories they were great.
  7. This is what I was thinking as well. He is the only reliable piece of the rotation right now. Maybe give him 2-3 more starts with a strict pitch count and then end his season. This is the best way to ensure that we have a healthy #1 starter for next year. I don't think there would be much outrage from the fans or media considering how few pitches he threw last year.
  8. I think what you mean to say is Hall goes 2-3 including a single off of a rookie lefty with a 6.80 ERA and a double off of Toma Ohka (6.08 ERA). Hall had a few 2 and 3 hit games for the Brewers this year too. I'm not convinced yet.
  9. Right on. All you have to do is listen to Buck Showalter talk baseball on BBTN and wonder how in the world he ever won Manager of the Year.....twice!!
  10. How does Sheffield have ANY leverage to negotiate a contract? He just got released by a team owing him $14 million and signed with the Mets where the only reason he is even getting playing time is because their entire team is on the DL. He's a known clubhouse cancer, a known BALCO doser, and hated by half of cities in the big leagues. Get real Gary.
  11. A few years ago I remember Lyle Overbay saying something along the lines of, "The Brewers getting to .500 would be like winning the World Series for this city." I don't think it's terribly hard to watch the Brewers play losing baseball. It's difficult to be coming off such a successful season and be where we are, but it's still easier than watching 101 losses.
  12. I would think DM's first plan of action for this offseason is to try and acquire pitching through FA and making a trade for Hardy/Hart/McGehee. If there is a can't miss deal on the table for Prince, you have to think he will go that route, but I would think he would want to wait another year before dealing. Even with his defensive woahs, you can't just replace a guy like Prince. He's a top 5 offensive power in the league. Also, DM is not known for acquiring pitching, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened before.......Coco Cordero, Justin Duchscherer (TX), Capuano, De La Rosa, Bush, Cody, Torres last year.
  13. My guess is that DM wanted at least some cash for Billy and $1.3 million is no small chunk of change considering most Major League teams have Bill Hall type "talent" in AAA for league minimum salary.
  14. Versus Oswalt...... Jason Kendall - 44 AB, .438/.455/.892 OPS Prince Fielder - 31 AB, .156/.161/.318 OPS Hopefully we get the Oswalt that gave up 6 ER in 5 IP to the Marlins his last time out.
  15. The other night on BBTN Steve Phillips called Alcides Escobar a second baseman. Of course they also showed highlights of Corey Hart while talking about JJ Hardy. And none of this surprised me in the least.

  17. Right. Even if the Brewers are still in the playoff race, why is Macha afraid of Gamel, Escobar and other replacement minor leaguers? He makes the assumption that they can't perform to the level of Counsell, Hall, or Catt, but until they are in the lineup everyday, you won't know. Look at the White Sox and Gordon Beckham or Coghlan in Florida. Take a chance Mr. Macha.
  18. Does anyone really care that David Ortiz used steroids in 2003? If he had just come out and admitted that he did indeed test positive because he was using steroids back in 2003, I think the media and the public would have been understanding. It makes my blood boil every time a player tests positive and then confesses that he never took steroids. We know what happened Papi. Everyone was doing it and you wanted to become the best player you could be, so you injected yourself with roids at a time when MLB wasn't testing. A hundred positive tests and a hundred players taking unknown OTC supplements and vtamins.
  19. Here are the lineups: Brewers 2B Felipe Lopez CF Mike Cameron LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder 3B Casey McGehee RF Bill Hall SS J.J. Hardy C Mike Rivera LHP Manny Parra Astros 2B Kaz Matsui 3B Jeff Keppinger RF Hunter Pence LF Carlos Lee SS Miguel Tejada C Ivan Rodriguez CF Jason Michaels 1B Chris Coste LHP Mike Hampton My prediction: With Rivera at catcher, Parra will get a "quality start"
  20. I don't know what kind of a profit Upper Deck was making in this business, but this is obviuolsy a huge blow to them. I think they will have a hard time convincing kids to buy a "Prince Fielder - Milwaukee" card with Prince in a generic looking uniform. Eisner seems to think that kids were confused with all of the choices in cards, but when I was younger I would collect cards from Bowmen, Fleer, UD, Topps, and Donruss. Now when you collect every Topps card for 2010, you are done for the year? I think if MLB really wants kids to get back into baseball cards, they should do the right thing and force Topps to price them at $0.25 a pack and include a hard stick of gum.
