  1. Sometimes I wonder who does compile Vin Scully's information......."And here's Bill Hall. Born in Mississippi, he now lives in Phoenix. His favorite food is Peanut Butter and he builds model trains in the off-season."
  2. The game is on MLB.TV if you're out of the blackout area. I'm sure the chat room will be packed come the regular season, I'm only half paying attention to this game.
  3. I was wondering if that was the happy youngster. Daron Sutton was calling the game for the D-backs and he made no mention of the HY even after several replays of the catch and close-ups of his bright yellow t-shirt.
  4. It's a right thumb contusion (aka bruise) for Braun. Maybe Braun should sit until opening day http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  5. The play in which Braun was "injured" was kind of weird. It looked like he misjudged a line drive as it bounced off of his left wrist, but after the play he was holding his right thumb, which I think was where the injury occurred. There was no dive for the ball and the throw back to the infield was routine enough so I'm not sure how it happened. EDIT: They just replayed it again and it did hit his right arm not his left arm, but closer to the elbow than the hand. I'm guessing he never saw the ball because he was moving to his left, yet it hits his right arm. The Padres announcers saying that he is currently getting X-rayed.
  6. I will cut you off no problem, but I only shop with a basket and I pay with cash, so I'm out of your way in no time. When choosing a checkout line try to get in a line with a young to middle aged male cashiers, they talk the least and scan the fastest. Middle aged women also scan quickly, but often like to chit chat about the weather. Never get in line behind older women, keeping an eye out for coupons in hand and a checkbook. Get in line behind pathetic looking single men. They are likely to pay with cash and not talk at all. This can however backfire when they don't have their rewards savings card with them. Watch out for young people buying alcohol, especially combined with elderly women cashiers who can't read Idaho driver's licenses. Also avoid blue collar workers on their lunch break, since they are going to want to have the cashier walk all the way across the store to get a pack of Camel non-filters for them from the customer service desk. And children always slows things down. Remember to look for the bag boy, if he's at the end of your line, things tend to move faster. I got a lot of this from the Simpsons and American Splendor. Hope it helps.
  7. Robert, I read today that Chris Perez has been sent down to AAA and Motte is LaRussa's unofficial closer to start the season.
  8. Maybe it's been mentioned already, but Jerry Smith (34) of Louisville has a giant Brewers ball and glove logo tattooed on his right bicep over the state of Wisconsin. Pretty cool. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/b8e152958769cc3e7d812e14a59a7fdeb805584.jpg EDIT: You can kind of make it out in this pic.
  9. "And just like that, as mysteriously as he arrived, he was gone." That one from Oscar had me cracking up.
  10. Pretend that you've moved to Greenland which is 3 timezones to the east of Central Standard. The great thing about this is that you can continue to sleep in until 10am, except that it actually happens at 7am CST. This way you can be awake and participate with the rest of society early in the morning, plus you don't actually have to move to Greenland. That's two perks to this scenario.
  11. I think what happened was that Oklahoma originally tried to become two separate states, one half being strictly Indian territories. The government didn't want the Native Americans to possess an entire state to themselves and would only admit Oklahoma to statehood if they merged with the other territory forming the Oklahoma we know today. At least that's how I remember it from history class.
  12. Buster Olney just said on BBTN that McClung will close out games until Hoffman comes back. I wonder how much truth there is to that.
  13. I don't think I've ever seen Bill Hall not upset with a HP umpire about a called third strike.
  14. My channel guide says that this game is supposed to be on, but it's an infomercial with a guy golfing in a tub of popcorn. I guess MLB.TV will do.
  15. That botched throw from Jeter cost the USA 3 runs. He's leading off the 9th, let's hope he can get a rally going.
  16. I am still currently employed by my company, but I have not worked since mid January because the only jobs that I could fill would have me take a 60% paycut. We have about 80 employees and 20 of them are currently earning pay. In order to take one of these 20 jobs I need to take a significant paycut. Some of my co-workers initially earn less than I do, so their paycut is not as severe if they take these jobs and others are simply desperate for work and they are filling these jobs. The only reason I am sticking with the company is that I know I will again earn my full pay come mid April. I think I would draw the line at about a 15% paycut, but of course this all depends on the individual, their cost of living and their line of work.
  17. Great game by the US team to battle back after being mercy ruled by this same team. I'm excited for the final round. Hopefully this will bring more US fans on board with the WBC.
  18. I don't get ESPN Deportes, but this game looks excellent in HD on MLB.TV. Awesome catch by Beltran to rob a HR, BTW.
  19. Uecker is great today. Good to see Bill Hall with the hit, the steal and a good defensive stop on his first day back.
  20. I'll give Suppan the benefit for now. His last outing was pretty solid and it's only spring.
  21. Haha. This reminds me of when a friend of mine in the dorms in college left for Thanksgiving break and accidentally left "Son of a Preacher Man" on loop the entire time he was gone. This earned him the nickname Idiot.
  22. It's good to hear that Bill Hall will probably be back by this weekend.
  23. This show is really funny. I'd consider it more crude than dark humor. It's a great compliment to Flight of the Conchords and Big Love on the best night of TV. Sad to hear that it's only a six episode season. He reminds me of Mitch Williams meets David Wells, but his pitching mechanics are absolutely horrible and hilarious.
